What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $138,841 - $236,030/year. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which includes but is not limited to:

Location
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.
What You’ll Do
The Department of Finance manages the city’s investing, fiscal analysis, budgeting, debt and asset management, tax assessment and collection, accounting functions, and fiscal policies for the entire City and County of Denver. The Department commits to Denver residents the delivery of these services through a financial structure that mirrors the best practices of both the public and private sectors. This commitment promotes better service, enhanced performance measures, maximum accountability, and improved business processes.
The City and County of Denver's Department of Finance unifies the city's accounting and financial functions under the Chief Financial Officer. As the Budget and Management Director of the Department of Finance (DOF), you will support the Chief Financial Officer and the Deputy Chief Financial Officer on a variety of complex projects and leadership of the agency.
Specifically, as the Budget and Management Director, you will:
Decide and Initiate Action: Manage the City's budget process, policy development, and financial analysis in accordance with the City's financial policies. Develop recommendations based upon financial and operational analysis in executive level policy discussions and development.
Think Strategically: Provide leadership to ensure a high performance, customer-oriented work environment that supports achieving the department's and the City's mission. Plan, organize, supervise and evaluate the work of staff who are responsible for budget development, fiscal analysis, and performance management for the City.
Persuade and Politically Influence: Regularly represent the City on fiscal/budget matters and present analysis and recommendations to executive leaders, City Council, citizen groups, and peer groups in the metro-area. Address unbudgeted expenditures throughout the year including participating in the legislative process which requires approval by City Council.
Provide Excellent Technical Expertise: Oversee citywide revenue forecasting, and fiscal impact and ordinance administration. Understanding of government finances is critical to success and familiarity with the City’s financial systems, finance rules, revised code and City Charter are desirable.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field based on a specific position(s)
Experience: Five (5) years of experience directing a financial division or agency including strategic, functional, and operational areas and supervising subordinate supervisors or managers in disciplines including accounting, budget, assessment, treasury, cash management, debt, investments, real estate, internal control and compliance, risk management, or a related discipline
Education and Experience Equivalency: Two (2) years of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
Location Flexibility
The City and County of Denver utilizes a hybrid model workplace that balances the responsibilities of public service with the benefits of a flexible work environment. Employees work where needed, at a city site and/or in the field several days a week and telecommute at a designated workplace within the State of Colorado the remaining days.

Although our full pay range is included above, the budgeted hiring range for this position is $180,000 - $220,000 based on experience and education.
