Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30 am to 3:30 pm)
Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Ely, Cardiff, who are committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for their students. We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team and support a pupil in year 2 with behavioural issues. This pupil has been diagnosed with ADHD and requires one-to-one support throughout the day, encompassing emotional, social support, and academic guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one support to the pupil throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Assist the pupil in managing their behaviour and emotions effectively.
- Foster positive relationships with the pupil, promoting their social and emotional development.
- Support the pupil in their academic work, ensuring they have a comprehensive understanding of the curriculum.
- Collaborate with the class teacher to implement individualized strategies and interventions tailored to the pupil's needs.
- Monitor and record the pupil's progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and school leadership as necessary.
- Work closely with other support staff and external professionals involved in the pupil's care to ensure consistency and effective communication.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils in the classroom.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with behavioural difficulties and/or ADHD is essential.
- A patient and empathetic approach when supporting children in their emotional and social development.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
- An understanding of current educational practices and strategies for supporting children with behavioural issues.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, adhering to all school policies and procedures.
- A positive and proactive attitude, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in Teaching Support or Childcare will be an advantage.
- Have an enhanced child workforce DBS (or be willing to apply for one)
- Register with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- Provide successful references which cover a 2 year period.
