If so, then a Social Work Apprenticeship in Tameside’s Children’s Services could be for you.
If you’re someone that is kind, compassionate, patient, and are committed to improving the lives of the children and young people in our borough, then we want to hear from you.
This programme will train and qualify you as a resilient, knowledgeable, and compassionate social worker, by successfully completing a Social Work degree (BSc) through the Social Work Apprenticeship Programme. And you’ll be able to do all of this whilst being supported in your role as a Trainee Social Worker.
All successful graduates are awarded a BA (Hons) or PgDip (dependent on previous qualifications) Social Work degree from Manchester Metropolitan University, as well as a Level 6 apprenticeship qualification approved by Social Work England.
This role sits in our new Social Work Academy, which has been created to help increase the quality of support that is offered to families in the borough, ensuring children are at the heart of everything.
About You
To be eligible for the apprenticeship programme you must:
- Be aged 18 or over
- Have the right to live and work in England
- Have eligible residency status (more information outlined in Annex A of Apprenticeship funding rules Apprenticeship funding rules - GOV.UK)
- Not hold a prior qualification at the same or higher level which is similar to the apprenticeship.
Please note, all applicants will need to evidence GCSE Mathematics and English (grade A*-C / 9-4), or equivalent. If you already have a 2:2 grade degree or above in any subject, as well as evidence of this, you may be eligible for a post-graduate diploma pathway which will reduce the duration of the apprenticeship to approximately 18 months.
Assessment Process
If successful at interview, you will need to complete an online comprehension test with Manchester Metropolitan University on 8th January 2025 at 10am.
Please note that due to the university programme start dates, all successful candidates must be in post by Monday 3rd March 2025.
