As a Social Worker within a busy community team, your role will involve working with young people and / or adults from 16 years and upwards (depending on which team you are part of) with lifelong disabilities, including physical and learning disability and autism.

You will be responsible for achieving positive change and improved outcomes for young people. You will have a varied, complex caseload, and provide an accountable social care service to those people who access or need the service.
You will be undertaking high quality assessments and reviews including mental capacity act assessments, responding to safeguarding enquiries, and working as part of a team. Qualifications and/or experience:

* Advanced theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge of social work. Good, up-to-date working knowledge of legislation relevant to the specialist area of the post e.g. The Care Act and the Mental Capacity Act.
* Good understanding of the necessity of working with partnership agencies including health, housing, learning, statutory, voluntary and independent sector.
* Experience of forming effective working relationships within a multi-agency/ multidisciplinary setting.
* Valid, full driving licence.
* Experience of working in partnership with those who access or need the service and maintaining a focus on the needs of the individual whilst handling conflict and disagreement.
* Experience of effectively coaching and supervising others, acting as practice

Training and Qualification information

Our Trainee Mental Health Practitioner positions training starts in January 2025. This is split with 2.5 days a week for academic work (teaching and personal study), and 2.5 days based at the service seeing clients related to training assignments.

You will attend UCL (London's Global University) and work towards a UCL Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Practitioner.

Whilst on assignment you will work within a multidisciplinary team, being responsible for supporting development and embedding services in educational settings.

You will either need a minimum second-class bachelor's degree (or equivalent in a relevant subject), OR if you do not hold the academic criteria but you have relevant professional experience, we would love to hear from you.

Please note: you will be trained in how to adapt interventions, but you will need a good level of experience in offering CBT informed assessments and interventions as this is not taught.

The government has announced new funding to support current smokers to quit smoking, with £70 million additional funding per year for local authority-led stop smoking services (SSS) and support.

West Sussex County Council Public Health (WSCC PH) will be receiving approximately £1.075 million for 2024/25, ring-fenced for smoking cessation. Although the exact amount for each subsequent year is yet to be determined, this funding will continue until 2028/29.

We are seeking multiple Smoking Cessation Advisors to join the team. You will be a key member of the in-house smoking cessation service, supporting individuals to quit smoking tobacco. This will include providing support in a variety of different ways, including via telephone and face to face, in a range of venues including community settings and workplaces.

Salary: £30,296 to £33,024 per annum (£12,118 to £13,209 per annum, pro rata)

As a Smoking Cessation Advisor, the support you provide will include the facilitation of a range of smoking cessation medications, including e-cigarettes, combined with appropriate behavioural support to enable residents to stop smoking tobacco. Early Help ensures that children and families receive accessible and co-ordinated support when they need it. This support ranges across a continuum from early identification and preventative approaches through to more targeted help where families are experiencing more complex or multiple difficulties. At every level support is designed to address and reduce the problems or challenges and prevent them getting worse.

As a Team Manager, you will be expected to lead, supervise and provide oversight of a team that provides direct intervention to children, young people and families through targeted support, partnership working within the dedicated schools team, or lead a team that provides support to the Early Help Hub. There is an expectation for you to be flexible and can lead on any of the three teams dependent on business need.

You will play a key role in the Early Help leadership team in bringing your knowledge and expertise into the development of services. You will be responsible for ensuring policies and practice are adhered to through a number of quality assurance processes. You will work alongside peers across the directorate to work collaboratively to ensure the needs of children are met.
