This is a key role within the Communities team as we enter an exciting period developing our approach to sport and physical activity across West Lindsey.

Our Communities Team are involved in a wide range of work including community grants, social regeneration projects, green space management, skills development, and community & voluntary sector support. This is a new role within this team, helping us enhance our ability to support sport and physical activity work.

We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, with experience of developing positive relationships and excels in partnership working, whilst at the same time is also able to manage projects in an efficient and effective manner.

The officer will work on a place-based approach to promoting health and wellbeing alongside tackling levels of inactivity across West Lindsey, with partners such as Everyone Active, Active Lincolnshire, local Sports Clubs, and Social Prescribers.

A key responsibility will be to help develop and implement a new Sports & Leisure Strategy for the Council. The Council is looking to appoint a motivated and confident individual who will play a key role in improving the environment for residents within the district.

The role will be largely based out in the field and the successful applicant will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the Council uses its legislative powers to tackle and prevent issues such as littering, dog fouling, fly-tipping, early presentation of waste and anti-social behaviour. This will involve the issuing of fixed penalty notices and warnings.

The role is fixed term for a two-year period and the successful applicant will be provided with all of the relevant training and support to develop their skills and knowledge so that they can be as effective as possible within that time period.

West Lindsey is one of the largest districts in England, covering 1,156km2 and with a population of around 95,000 people. We are a predominantly rural district, with an administrative centre in Gainsborough on the River Trent, and the historic market towns of Market Rasen and Caistor to the east, nestling into the Lincolnshire Wolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The Development Management Team receives over 1,500 applications a year for planning permission, listed building consent, advertisement consent and other related applications.

We are now looking for an enthusiastic person to join our Development Management team, where you will be responsible for taking on a diverse caseload of planning and other development-related applications. Whether recently qualified, or an experienced officer, to succeed in this role it is essential that you are outcome-focused and dedicated to achieving high-quality development.
