This position serves as a VISN 22 Veterans Transportation Program Manager within the VISN Office. Provides management, support, and required oversight to assist VA transportation providers and key business staff to medical centers across the VISN. The position manages the VISN VTP including Veterans Transportation Service, Beneficiary Travel, the Highly Rural Transportation Grant Programs.

Major duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

This position reports directly to the Assistant Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the VA Northern California Healthcare System. The Pain Section Chief, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service (PM&R), is responsible for the administrative supervision, management, and direction of the PM&R Pain programs, including the Interventional Pain and Chronic Pain programs.

The principal duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Administration:

The PM&R Pain is responsible for delivery of pain and rehabilitative care for outpatient PM&R Pain clinics including medication management and interventional management. This position is Pain Management, Opioid Safety and Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PMOP) funded position.

The principal duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provides comprehensive pain and rehabilitation care to veterans through clinical evaluation and treatment within the outpatient Pain Program, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) clinics and inpatient care as needed.
• Performs medication management including opioids, spine and other pain procedures, ultrasounds, non-medication management of pain including physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic, etc. and conducts Pain and PM&R clinics as needed and comply by all PMOP requirements.

Incumbent serves as an Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) in the Community Care Division at the VA Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS). Incumbent is directly responsible to the Supervisory Medical Support Assistant, Community Care Division, but works very closely with the Lead MSA, who also reports to the Community Care Division
Supervisor.
This position serves as the liaison between patients, nursing staff, medical staff, outside agencies, and other VA Medical Centers in their assigned area and serves customers internally and externally.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

• Processes incoming patient secure messaging through My HealtheVet and coordinates with care team as appropriate.
• Participates in team huddles and team meetings to manage, plan, problem solve, and follow-up with patient care by sharing information and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
• Identifies incomplete encounters and communicates findings to providers.
• Assists the team to reinforce the plan of care and self-help solutions.
• Enters appropriate information into the electronic record; monitors pre-appointment information and/or requirements to assure readiness for patient visit/procedure.
• Manages patient systems to verify and validate accuracy and resolve issues.
• Evaluates patient information and clinic schedule lists to determine whether the patient requires an immediate appointment.
• Informs team members about shared patients (i.e., those who receive their care at multiple VA centers or those who receive care in the community).

This position serves as the Security Assistant for Police Service within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) with a primary purpose to monitor physical security equipment and systems. Major duties and responsibilities include:

• Physical Security Support: monitors and responds to alarms; traces access patterns, programming, assigns or removes user permissions, and remotely opens and secures doors during routine and emergency operations; determines when to dispatch law enforcement or other personnel to investigate; maintains radio/alarm activity records/logs to include dates, times, and results of communications and activities; prepares completed reports; issues and retrieves government issued keys and/or identification cards; and maintains accountability of Police Officer badges issued and all associated logs.
• Communications: monitors and receives routine and emergency calls from a variety of sources that need police, fire, medical or other emergency services; maintains contact with law enforcement units; monitors and directs responses to security and life safety communications, radio dispatches, telephone calls, and other emergency communication circuits; coordinates with various federal, state and local law enforcement officials for coordination of emergency situations; and operates a variety of communications equipment, telephones and computer systems to support both routine and emergency operations.
• Operations Support: performs system checks on a variety of equipment used in the dispatch center; troubleshoots systems when problems arise and resolves issues whenever possible; conducts equipment inventories and completes records and other logs; enters, updates and retrieves information from a variety of computer systems/databases; uses state and the National Crime Information Computer (NCIC) to access sensitive law enforcement information to support field operations and investigations; enters or updates regional and national records; compiles and prepares reports related to events occurring in the operation of the police control center; completes vehicle registration tasks and issues decals and permits.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Major duties include but not limited to:

Supervisory Duties The incumbent is the supervisor of the Transportation Unit which consists of 6 employees, providing technical and administrative supervision to a unit of 4 WG-7 Motor Vehicle Operators, 1 WL-7 Lead Motor Vehicle Operator and 1 GS-5 Motor Vehicle Dispatcher. The incumbent shall ensure that his/her employees conduct themselves in a manner that is compliant with the standards of the M&O Section, Engineering Service and the Veterans Administration.
Transportation Administration, Development and Fleet Management Supervises and oversees the Transportation Unit by providing administrative duties and serving as the facility Fleet Manager for over 150 motor vehicles and managing the transportation services provided at the VA Long Beach Health Care System.
Budgetary and Fiscal Management Analysis Works closely and frequently with the Fiscal Service to effectively and efficiently manage the VALBHCS Transportation budget, expenditures and obligations and analysis of the Transportation budget, and provides information and recommendations to VA Long Beach Health Care System leadership.
Performance Improvement Programs The Supervisory Transportations Specialist manages the VALBHCS transportation program quality assurance processes. Conducts and/or participates in studies, analyzes findings, and makes recommendations for performance improvement programs related to the VALBHCS' transportation.
Quality and Productivity Goals Assures VA performance measures and standards issued by various accrediting, regulatory and higher agency authorities pertaining to the VALBHCS' transportation are met. Actively participates in various surveys conducted by Joint Commission; Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and audits from investigations by the Office of Inspector General Improper Payments Elimination and Recovery Act (IPERA).
