Duties:
Clinical Responsibilities
a. Provides immediate access to clinical assessment and appropriate collaborative care and treatment for those experiencing mental health symptoms or behavioral health issues.

Academic/Teaching/Training
a. Provides consultation and training to Primary Care Service Line staff in the identification and management of common mental and behavioral health disorders that present in a primary care setting.
b. Develops programs together with other staff members for teaching and/or improving the PCP's core behavioral health skills.
c. Develops and/or makes available relevant education and training programs for all Primary Core providers to ensure that culturally competent care is provided.
d. Serves as a consultant to other medical center staff on issues related to the function of the team and may provide in-service in areas directly related to the mission of the team.
e. Involved in Psychology Training Program and Training Committees as appropriate.
f. May provide clinical supervision to Psychology trainees at all levels of training or unlicensed staff as needed.
g. May be asked to prepare and teach seminars/workshops for Hampton VA trainees or staff on topics within interest or competency area.
h. Assume responsibility for professional development by attending relevant training and regularly reviewing the literature to improve clinical competencies and meeting professional continuing education requirements to maintaining competence and licensure.

Program Evaluation/Research
a. Oversees the establishment of program monitors and outcome measurements within programs assigned using a data-driven quality assurance process.
b. Is responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center or healthcare system, as appropriate.

Provides treatment to patients with a wide variety of problems, including PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, and personality disorders, among others.
2. Conducts bio-psychosocial assessments of Veterans and their identified significant others. Schedules and dispatches drivers and vehicles for patient transportation. Schedules and dispatches vehicles for medical center staff to include assigning vehicles based on length and purpose of trip, and passenger requirements; checking driver credentials; issuing keys and record sheets; ensuring trip information is recorded; and investigates overdue vehicles.

Performs duties as a Government Purchase Card Holder to include complying with Federal and VA acquisition regulations; inputting purchase card orders into the V A's Integrated Funds Distribution, Control Point Activity, Accounting and Procurement (IFCAP) system; reconciling charges within established time limits; resolving disputed charges; and maintaining necessary documentation.

Controls and maintains record keeping for GSA Credit Cards, and reconciles accounts for cards assigned to all vehicles. Performs semi-annual inventories to ensure all cards are accounted for.

Operates a computer, peripheral equipment and appropriate software to perform various computer operations in support of office operations.

Types, edits and prints a variety of correspondence, technical reports and similar material in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.

Consistently communicates and treats customers (e.g., Veterans, their representatives, visitors and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful and respectful manner.

Must posses a valid state driver's license.

The Peer Specialist functions as an interdisciplinary team member, assisting physicians and other professional/non-professional personnel in a rehabilitation treatment program. Peer specialists perform a variety of therapeutic and supportive tasks that include assisting Veterans in articulating their goals for recovery and personal wellness, learning, and practicing new skills, helping them monitor their progress, assisting them in their treatment, modeling effective coping techniques and self-help strategies based on the peer specialist's own recovery experience, and supporting them in advocating for themselves to obtain effective services.
Duties include, but not limited to the following:

• Participates in the service, training, consultation, and other professional activities of VA health care services and functions as a fully vested member of the multidisciplinary team.
• Uses personal recovery experiences to model coping techniques and recovery tolls to coach Veterans to relevant skills need for self-management of their health condition(s) and pursuit of their personal wellness.
• Observes behaviors that might indicate difficulty adapting or responding to treatment (e.g., missed assessment appointments, failure to attend or maintain abstinence, risk to self or others, disruptive behavior), completes appropriate documentation, and reports concerns to the treatment team in a timely manner.
• Uses ongoing individual and group meetings to teach Veterans how to identify and combat negative self-talk and overcome fears by providing a forum that allows Veteran to share their experiences.
• As necessary, handles crisis interventions for Veterans and addresses other emergent situations without the benefit of specific instructions.
• Informs Veterans about VA and community supports and resources, including how to effectively utilize them in the recovery and wellness process.
• Maintains a working knowledge of current trends and developments in holistic approaches in wellness and recovery by reading books, journals, and other relevant materials.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to assigned residents and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the setting. Duties listed below but not limited to:

• The Registered Nurse will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization consultation.
• Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.
• Responsible for coding the sections of the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI)/MDS Assessment and the Care Area Assessments (CAAs) that are assigned to nursing, adhering to current Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Veterans Health Administration (VHA) timeframes of assessment completion.
• Collaborating with the CLC Resident Assessment Coordinator (RAC) to educate CLC staff on the completion of the RAI/MDS process.
• Participating in ongoing survey readiness activities in the CLC. Documenting and taking corrective action when notified by the CLC management team, charge nurse, or designee of any discrepancies in coding or documentation of RAI/MDS assessments and CAAs reported during the interrater reliability review.
