The Lead Medical Technologist facilitates a team or unit processes by working in collaboration with a team to ensure that task, priorities, goals, and achievements are coordinated with management. Board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to provide comprehensive oral maxillofacial surgery examination, consultation, treatment planning, history and physical examination, and hospital admission. • Monitors (BMS) for bed readiness relative to patient tracking through-put information on the computerized bed board. Monitoring allows the (BFC) to know bed capacity and available bed locations for making informed decisions about the hospital's census based on EMS bed cleaning data. (BMS) streamlines bed turnover, improves through-put, and provides a clear picture of the hospital's capacity in real time.
• Ensures that bed turnover (the time a bed is vacated) to the time it is cleaned, and pull times (the time between a patient being admitted to the hospital and reaching a bed).
• Communicates EMS work in progress for knowing capacity constraints that lead to increased diversions, longer waiting periods, as well as holds and other throughput challenges.
• Monitors the timeliness of notification of patient discharges, timely turn around of discharge beds, timely assignment of ready beds, and timely movement of patients to ready beds for allowing the (BFC) to coordinate patient through-put.

The MVO operates a 30-passenger bus and small Dual Use Vehicles (DUV's) with air brakes that weigh up to 26,000 GVWR and carry up to 15 passengers.

Duties: The MVO operates gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles to transport passengers at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center between the main hospital and its associated outpatient clinics. Vehicle types include passenger cars, vans, station wagons, cargo van, and 30 passenger buses. Vehicles are driven in and out of state, over roads and streets, through all kinds of traffic and weather conditions.

Duties Include:
-Perform duties over pre-determined routes and in accordance with a pre-determined schedule, over public roads at highway speeds.

The position participates in planning deliberations and contributes significantly to the management decision-making process through teamwork, innovation, coordination, and collaboration with other senior members and stakeholders to ensure objectives are met toward meeting the healthcare system's overall strategic plan goals.

The position maintains COR certification to oversee the administration of Facility Engineering Service's Architect/Engineer and Construction Contracts.

The position supports and advances patient care by applying engineering and managerial skills to healthcare engineering as demonstrated by the following major responsibilities:

1. Conducts capital asset and infrastructure planning and design for the medical facility spanning initial strategic planning, concept development, design, construction, and effective implementation of complex buildings, utilities, and medical support systems.
2. Manages healthcare engineering project design and administers construction in accordance with VA policies and procedures, VA Design Guides, VA Design Manuals, VA Master Specifications and related industry codes and standards.
3. Performs healthcare engineering project construction management and post project activities while ensuring continuity of building and utility services for medical facility operations.
4. Assists in the provision of a continuing education program for clinical staff and maintenance personnel addressing the principles and application of building and utility systems in the delivery of health care. This includes a curriculum that addresses the safe and effective use of medical gases, emergency power, ventilation, and other healthcare infrastructure related technology. This requires skill to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of individuals, including technical and professional clinical staff, to communicate technical information.
5. Assists in development and implementation of the environment of care program that meets current Joint Commission, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), NFPA, and VA requirements, particularly as it relates to construction safety and infection control.
