Responsibilities include implementing a comprehensive environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001 ensuring that the station is in compliance with Federal, State and local environmental regulations. The station consists of approximately 180 acres of mixed use: medical administration, rehabilitation residential and facility maintenance activities which include but are not limited to: well-water pumping, treating, and distribution; industrial waste water discharge to the county; storm water management; air discharges requiring permits; boiler operations; electrical power generators for backup power and associated permits; new construction and renovations; hazardous waste generation; medical/infectious waste; regulated waste; and universal waste.Major Duties Include but are not Limited to:

This position is located in the Health Information Management (HIM) section at the White River Junction, VT VA Medical Center. MRTs (Coder) are skilled in classifying medical data from patient health records in the hospital setting, and/or physician-based settings, such as physician offices, group practices, multi-specialty clinics, and specialty centers. These coding practitioners analyze and abstract patients' health records and assign alpha-numeric codes for each diagnosis and procedure. To perform this task, they must possess expertise in International Classification of Diseases (ICD), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), and the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS). The Associate Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Quality and Patient Safety (Associate DUSH for QPS) is a direct report to the Deputy Under Secretary for Health (DUSH) and supports the overall work of the Office of the Under Secretary for Health (USH). The Associate DUSH for QPS provides national leadership in the formulation and establishment of effective health care policies, programs, and initiatives that fulfill the VHA's mission to provide personalized, pro-active, high quality, safe, reliable care for Veterans. The Associate DUSH for QPS is responsible for leading VHA on its journey toward becoming a high reliability organization and has oversight of VHA's performance measurement, quality and process improvement, safety, clinical risk management, systems redesign, accreditation, and data analytics and reporting programs. • Supports national and VISN level activities and field facilities by providing clinical program and policy guidance and assistance with the development of interdisciplinary approaches to the accomplishment of strategic plans and initiatives related to the Skilled Home Care programs.

Major duties/functions include, but are not limited to:

• The nurse is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care.
• Delivers safe care to assigned patients, while developing technical competencies.
• Safely and effectively uses patient care equipment.
• Correctly and safely performs nursing procedures.
• Recognizes overt abnormal signs and symptoms and/or changes in patients' condition and responds appropriately.
• Implements physician's/provider's orders in a timely and complete manner.
• Implements nursing interventions/orders in a timely and complete manner
• Requests assistance from co-workers when needed; knows when to ask for help.
• Formulates a plan of care based on nursing assessments, using the nursing process, based on the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice.
• Completes initial assessment of patient condition and response to treatment and initiates follow-up as needed.
• Includes the patient and family/significant other in developing the initial plan of care and establishing goals.
• Updates plan of care with assistance as needed.
• Assesses patient's learning needs, learning preference and readiness to learn.
• Develops and implements a plan to meet learning needs, instructing patients and families in basic health teaching and discharge planning.
• Documents the nursing process.
• Documentation is consistent, accurate, concise, and timely.
• Evaluates and documents patient response to interventions and progress towards attainment of goals and expected outcomes.
• Revises plan of care according to evaluations of patient's responses and outcomes.
• Uses the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS), Eccentric Clinical Procedures, and Bar Coded Medication Administration (BCMA) software per policy, as well as any future patient documentation programs.
