Major duties include, but may not be limited to:

• Receives telephone calls from Veterans through the automated call distribution system. Answers Veteran inquiries related to process questions.
• Documents all Veteran interactions using progress notes and other reports as needed.
• Uses the highest level of customer service at all times to provide patient education via telephone on the medication refill process.
• Follows-through on all prescription problems by phone or EHR progress note to the provider to avoid Veterans being out of medications.
• Participates in telephone notification of class 1 medication recalls as necessary.
• Guides Veterans on how to return medicine to the pharmacy if needed and how to obtain replacement medications.
• Seeks to solve Veteran's concerns at first contact.
• Independently inputs refill prescriptions into EHR computer system for immediate or mail-out processing.
• Processes batch refill prescription ordering for mail-out processing and ultimate fulfillment of Veteran requests.
• Interacts personally with Veterans or their representatives to assure medication profiles are updated, reviewed, and needed prescriptions items or prosthetics supplies are appropriately processed.
• Accurately fills prescriptions orders by selecting correct product based on label requirements and assures each item is filled and labeled according to all applicable standards.
• Answers questions from pharmacy and non-pharmacy personnel regarding outpatient procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Provide general adult psychiatric care,
• Conduct diagnostic evaluations, psychiatric consults, medication management, and individual or group psychotherapy.
• Provide direct clinical supervision of advanced practice nurses or physician assistants and other staff as appropriate.
• Establish professional working relationships with other clinical service providers within the medical center and outlying clinics.
• Provide telephone and e-consult consultations as needed.
• Expected to cooperate with and participate in medical duties or functions related to quality of care, peer review and with other performance improvement activities as directed.

Major duties include but are not limited to:

• Contributes to the development of a leadership development program for VCL.
• Develops assigned program content based on identified learning needs and individual development plans, formal and informal surveys and assessments, feedback from supervisors, peers, and employees, and other feedback mechanisms.
• Participates actively in the development of career mentoring for leadership development.
• Analyzes employee's career goals, skills, and knowledge gaps, and matches individuals with appropriate mentors. Extends mentoring program to other VCL employees as needed.
• Applies knowledge of coaching and mentoring techniques to provide training as part of formal programs and to train other employees on becoming qualified coaches and mentors in VCL.
• Researches, interprets, and applies Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and VA handbooks, directives, policies, and regulations in the areas of leadership and employee development to participate actively in the development of a leadership, mentoring, and other formal and informal educational programs for VCL employees.
• Recommends and develops policies and procedures for VCL's leadership, mentoring, and other formal and informal educational programs for VCL employees.
• Advises employee, supervisors and managers on policy, instructions and procedures governing the overall management of the leadership, mentoring, and employee development programs.
• Writes regular communications concerning program data and accomplishments. Prepares and/or assists supervisor in preparing strategic documents, reports, formal briefings, presentations, memorandum, and other communications designed to keep senior leaders informed regarding educational and HR data, workforce analysis, trends, and concerns, succession planning, program results and improvements, emerging insights, program recommendations, and proposed action plans.

• Maintaining uniform organizational design and position structures.

The ICC Health System Specialist for Diagnostics is responsible for supporting VISN 19 clinical leadership in coordinating, planning, implementing, and monitoring activities to ensure the rapid information exchange and performance improvement which enables the attainment of data-driven clinical goals and improved access to high quality care in VISN 19 Diagnostic Programs.

Major duties of the Health Systems Specialist for the Diagnostics ICC position include, but are not limited to:

• Develops and manages programs and projects for the VISN 19 Diagnostics Integrated Clinical Community (ICC) that will strengthen vertical and horizontal linkages to improve the quality and consistency of leadership, communication, and data essential for transformation to a High Reliability Organization and to support vital systems improvements.
• Responsible for working collaboratively with local and national clinical and non-clinical Diagnostic ICC leaders to develop and implement strategies for standardizing and improving patient care across the VISN and VHA including, but not limited to: monitoring progress, success, barriers and needs for improvement; identifying focused improvement efforts across the VISN and VHA; supporting the development of a robust learning organization through sharing and spreading strong practices; ensuring regular meetings of the VHA, VISN, and facility workgroups; implementing key elements of ICC guidance and policy; and providing regular guidance and oversight to facility-based ICC teams and workgroups.
• ICC-related program planning, organizing, evaluating, coordinating, and implementation.
• Recognized by the medical staff and senior leadership as a specialist in Diagnostics health care administration and policy/procedure formation.
• Functions as a valuable resource in areas of data analysis, quality assessment, performance improvement, interdisciplinary issues, utilization management, risk management, and health care system investigations.
• Belongs to a national community of practice focused on implementing VHA Modernization's Reduce Unwarranted Variation Across Integrated Clinical & Operational Service Lines Lane of Effort and improving the quality care throughout VHA.
• Develops and/or maintains proficiency and supports administrative activities with various computer applications including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, graphic generation and desktop publishing programs.
• Responsible for and oversees resource allocation and management to include funds, equipment, space, staffing, and contracts.
• May be tasked with managing VISN-wide equipment purchases and large-scale contracts.
