Incumbent is responsible for assuring that various aspects of staffing, training, compliance, reporting, quality assurance, and budgetary initiatives are met. These activities directly affect the revenue cycle, patient access to care, hospital performance goals and objectives, as well as VHA public image. The incumbent plays an integral role in identifying and developing ways to resolve problems with the administrative and clinical staff on access, customer service, patient flow, revenue, and data validation issues. Their work also impacts processes, action plans, monitoring, and reporting. Failure to perform these duties properly could result in the Veteran not receiving the treatment to which they are entitled or priority access to care to which they are entitled. The lack of coordination provided by this employee could have a negative impact upon clinical and/or administrative functions. The Mobile Provider iPad Program provides iPads to Clinicians to use in the day-to-day patient care activities. The Digital Divide Program provides electronic devices to veterans in need, assisting them in communicating with their care providers;

The AMSA:

Major Duties:
The Program Support Assistant (MHV) will assist in providing critical, timely and effective communication in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs On-line Personal Health Record, My HealtheVet (MHV), Social Networking Media and Secure Messaging (SM) components. You will serve as the facility champion supporting existing and future veteran communication initiatives. You will execute local program implementation, providing training and outreach to Veterans and their families with the goal of optimizing Veterans' healthcare management.

Outreach: Promotes the use of MyHealtheVet (MHV) by advertising the program, promoting MHV through interaction with Veterans and with employees, and attending community events. The incumbent conducts extensive communications with Veterans in person, telephonically, over email, and by letter to comply with technical requirements, program parameters, national and local policies, and assist with enrollment outreach efforts. The incumbent will assist with My HealtheVet enrollment drives in the community, at town halls, at new patient orientation, and nursing homes. The incumbent also serves as a Marketing and Advertising representative knowledgeable about MHV and will assist Veterans with general enrollment and use issues consistent with written guidelines and policy. The incumbent completes face-to-face communications, training, demonstration of MHV uses with Veterans, family members, and employees. The incumbent assists Veterans for enrollment, authenticates accounts, and demonstrates the platform functionality and uses with the Veteran, family members, and employees. Demonstrates this technology such as secure messaging, remote monitoring, medication refills, medical record management. Verifies qualifications and credentials of Veterans enrolling onto the MHV web portal including authentication and online patient education resource sites both on the local intranet page and the Internet. Ensures that veterans are enrolled in the system correctly and follows up with Veterans who did not enroll correctly. Training: The MHV Assistant participates in New Employee Orientation and New Patient Orientation and is a Subject Matter Expert for all MHV related activities. On a day-to-day basis, the MHV Assistant trains employees on MHV and Secure Messaging and adds them to the MHV system. Incumbent acts as the local "help desk" for both employees and Veterans who have operational questions regarding MHV, educates patients on the
benefits of MHV, system enrollment, and navigation.

Administration: The incumbent promotes organizational efficiencies and productivity gains with respect to use of this program. Works with various services within the organization to ensure that My HealtheVet is promoted. Visits various health care points of care to discuss program objectives and promote participation. Explains operating details of the program and available benefits which may be expected. Responds to questions presented in person, via letters and phone calls. The incumbent monitors program participation and use, completes reports on enrollment, account status, and
messaging trends in response to escalation expectations. Collect, develop, and document data for facility operational decisions. The MHV Assistant monitors kiosk functionality, use, and related areas of concern. Issues that arise locally with the program, which may include equipment or system issues are immediately referred to the program coordinator for appropriate higher-level action if required.

The Medical Support Assistant (MSA) position serves as a Consult Coordinator for Community Care. The MSA works collaboratively with other members of expanded health care teams (i.e., Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT), specialty care) including Community Care providers, pharmacists, social workers, dieticians, behavioral health staff, etc. to provide a robust interdisciplinary approach to care. Important interfaces and collaborations also occur with larger health care system providers including VA and non-VA specialists, hospitals, diagnostic and treating facilities, and community-based programs. The primary duties of the Medical Support Assistant (Advanced) may include but are not limited to:

• Maintains appointment schedules for Community Care.
• Communicates with Community Care providers to ensure they accept VA patients and payments.

The Nursing Assistant assists providers and other nursing staff with minor procedures. The Nursing Assistant will monitor for expiring medication/supplies. Assist with repeat blood pressures, patient admissions and transfers, general transporting of patients, lab and pharmacy running for clinic. The Nursing Assistant will be entering information into the patients' electronic records or charts using standard medical terminology for the human body, physical and emotional reactions, nursing care, and contraindications to medications, etc. The Nursing Assistant will foster/support a learning environment by participation in the orientation of new employees, providing feedback as appropriate and seeking opportunities for self-improvement. Incumbent is responsible for assuring that various aspects of staffing, training, compliance, reporting, quality assurance, and budgetary initiatives are met. These activities directly affect the revenue cycle, patient access to care, hospital performance goals and objectives, as well as VHA public image. The incumbent plays an integral role in identifying and developing ways to resolve problems with the administrative and clinical staff on access, customer service, patient flow, revenue, and data validation issues. His/her work also impacts processes, action plans, monitoring, and reporting. Failure to perform these duties properly could result in the veteran not receiving the treatment to which he/she is entitled or priority access to care to which he/she is entitled. The lack of coordination provided by this employee could negatively impact upon clinical and/or administrative functions. A large part of the duties of a Clinical Support Section employee is acting as a receptionist at the clinic, either face-to-face or telephonically, requiring excellent customer service skills. The work requires a high degree of judgment in responding to both employee and patient concerns and providing solutions to process problems as they affect day- to-day operations. The work is mostly sedentary and is performed in various outpatient clinic or office settings responsible for treating patients with a wide variety of medical problems. The performance of daily rounds to the assigned clinic areas is required. This may include frequent visits to off-site clinics to fill-in for or interact with the Clinical Support Section employees and clinical/administrative staff in these areas. Duties of this position include but are not limited to:

• Receiving and interprets requests and instructions for physical therapy procedures;
• Independently planning and implementing specialized treatment programs and applies physical therapy procedures to patients under the general supervision of a physical therapist. May carry out or oversee the work of lower graded assistants or technicians to accommodate requests;
• Completing preliminary review/examination of patient data (including medical history), compiling and organizing pertinent information, and developing/presenting a patient profile to be used in assessing patient's status;
• Assisting with or rendering a course of treatment based on the assessed needs of the patient, developing progressive types of physical therapy treatment programs within the scope of the physical therapy assessment. This may necessitate consultation with a physical therapist or physician;
• Assisting therapist in development of a comprehensive specialized treatment plan that includes long- and short-term goals. Persuades and motivates veterans and family members to participate in treatment plans and comply with indicated regimens and post-discharge activities.
