About the roleWe are looking for a new full time Safeguarding Officer to join the team at York College.
You will play an active role in the Safeguarding Team, and across college, working collaboratively and professionally with students, staff, external agencies and students’ family members. You will swiftly, respond to and manage safeguarding cases as they arise. You will attend and actively participate in meetings such as, multi-agency meetings, Child in Need meetings, strategy discussions and liaise with families, external agencies, and key safeguarding partners.
The role requires you to maintain and develop links with external agencies, while providing the safest possible environment for all our students. It is important you can work as part of a team, while also managing your own workload and prioritising actions. You will work with staff across the college to provide effective training and awareness sessions.
Previous experience of safeguarding is needed for this role. You must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with students, colleagues, professionals and others supporting our students.
The safeguarding of young people and adults at risk is fully embraced by all York College staff and underpins the college values, care, ambition, respect and excellence. Our safeguarding officers take swift and appropriate actions to mitigate safeguarding risks
About the CollegeWe are a large, regional college serving a population across York and North Yorkshire of more one million people. Each year, we have nearly 4,000 school leavers, nearly 1,000 apprentices, nearly 2,000 adult students, and nearly 400 higher-level students studying with us.
