As a Clinical Applications Specialist you will be responsible for the best -in-class training for customers (surgeons and staff) on the approved utilization of Alcon products to ensure safe and appropriate use for optimal patient outcomes. Field Based position that includes home office administrative duties. The Clinical Applications Specialist (CAS) is a clinical expert in Alcon's entire current portfolio of devices to include LenSx, ORA, Argos, Verion and added products added to the portfolio in the future as technology and business needs evolve.

**Ideal candidates will live in Denver, Colorado Springs, or Boulder, CO or surrounding areas.**

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Provide technical and clinical training, education and ongoing clinical support to train surgeons and Operating Room (OR) staff on the approved use and application of Alcon’s Cataract and/or Refractive Surgical Device products.
• Provide on-site and/or remote clinical application support to customers by providing scientific and technical information in response to inquiries regarding approved use of Alcon medical devices.
• Ensure successful implementation of all equipment and software upgrades at clinical sites for all relevant devices.
• Provide clear and accurate documentation of each site visit via a standardized reporting mechanism (CRM Tool) within 48 hours of completion of the visit.
• Identify and report all adverse events and device deficiencies to Medical Safety per company protocol.
• Refer inquiries related to unapproved uses of technologies.
• Address reports of Adverse Events requiring root cause analysis and requests for feedback/input from physicians in cooperation with Medical Safety, as appropriate.
• Collaborate as appropriate with Field Service Engineers to support clinical sites on new installations, site support and trouble shooting.
• Collaborate as appropriate with the Field Service team and Sales Reps to ensure clinical training is scheduled for new installations and needs for ongoing surgical support.
• Provide constant feedback to R&D via approved communication plan on clinical performance of products.
• Respond to unsolicited requests for information related to Alcon medical devices, per SOPs and Ethics and Compliance Guidelines.
• Attend and support Medical Congresses, fellowships, conferences, exhibits, seminars, and wet labs as requested by Clinical Applications management.
• Assist with convention demonstrations as deemed appropriate by management per SOPs.
• Achieve clinical certifications to meet requirements and scope of responsibilities. 

What you’ll bring to Alcon:

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Provide technical and clinical training to maximize product utilization, upgrade opportunities, growth, and adoption of approved Alcon products.
• Pro-actively and strategically align their assigned territory's clinical training needs with commercial business goals through collaborative Strategic Account Management principles.
• Interact closely with physicians, nurses, Operating Room, and clinical staff to increase product and procedural knowledge, as well as satisfaction with the application and approved use of specified products.
• Deliver pre-sales and post-sales installation training, ensure successful installation, and support adoption of all equipment and software upgrades at clinical sites for all relevant devices.
• Provide clear, accurate, and timely documentation of each site visit via a standardized reporting mechanism (CRM Tool) within 48 hours of completion of the visit.
• Address reports of product problems and adverse events with Medical Safety. These reports may require root cause analysis and requests for feedback/input from physicians.
• Collaborate as One-Team with cross-functional associates including but not limited to FSEs, Commercial Team, Service Ops and Clinical Team to support customers on new installations, site support and troubleshooting pre and post install with Calibration Calls.
• Attend and assist / support with convention demonstrations, Medical Congresses, fellowships, conferences, exhibits, seminars, and wet-labs as requested and deemed appropriate by management per SOPs.
• Respond to unsolicited requests for information related to Alcon medical devices, per SOPs and Ethics and Compliance Guidelines.

**Please note this position requires heavy travel, both by car and airplane, as well as nights in hotels away from home. The CAS will often encounter last minute changes in schedules and can be required to work outside normal business hours, on weekends, and sometimes on holidays as needed.

• Achieve the sales objectives for capital equipment (excimer/femtosecond lasers/diagnostics) and procedural sales goals assigned to the territory.  Efficiently and responsibly manage all assigned accounts.
• Routinely work in conjunction with other Refractive Team members to quickly generate sales, provide installation, improve clinical outcomes, and improve business outcomes.
• Handle expenses within prescribed guidelines and implement marketing plans.

Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.)
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
• 2 Years of Relevant Experience
