The principal Solution Architect– Surgical Digital Products is responsible for leading the technical vision and design decisions for products in our ecosystem of surgical eye care. We are looking for a technical expert who is willing to challenge technical constraints and procedures to achieve agile design. As the visionary force behind and executor of the technical solution, this role guides on technical design and requirements to solve product technical stack challenges.

Core Job Responsibilities:
- Design the overall technological architecture of the product (i.e., front to back tech stack) with the help of product teams, business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and technical leaders.
- Work with the Product Manager(s) to align the roadmap with the tradeoffs of the product technical stack and share responsibility for building reusable and scalable components.
- Develop proof-of-concept solutions, architectural diagrams, and specifications in response to business needs.
- Translate complex business requirements into technical design decisions, solve problems with tech leads/developers and guide teams to implement.
- Prioritize solving business problems ahead of technological purity, but clearly articulates the tradeoffs to stakeholders.
- Design, deploy, and manage scalable solutions that offer flexible deployment options – on-premises and on-cloud. Ensure seamless integration with medical devices and other healthcare systems and data formats.
- Be proficient in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Python), application frameworks (Spring, Django), and software development methodologies. Leverage experience with modern web applications, including developing responsive single page applications.
- Make architecture design decisions at a team, product, and ecosystem level.
- Manage technical priorities within the backlog effectively to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Mentor and coach technical leaders on best practices for the product technology stack, maintain coding standards and practices.
- Look to continuously improve the product technology stack and solve its engineering limitations. Participate in design and sprint reviews to identify and remove technical impediments.

Core Qualifications Include:
- Proven experience as a Principal Architect. Experience in digital health or healthcare technology sector, with a focus on medical devices a plus.
- 5+ years software development experience building enterprise SaaS cloud-based solutions.
- Experience building software products on hyperscale infrastructure, including multi-cloud and hybrid cloud options.
- Experience with architectural design recommendation, guidance and leadership in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading the design, development, delivery and maintenance of large-scale and high-performance products.
- Knowledge of release management and CICD deployment workflow processes, from development release through production deployment.
- Experience with object-oriented code, Angular JS, Node JS, Java Spring boot, C++/C#, .NET, HTML, CSS, SQL Server, Front End Web, Web Services.
- Proficiency in modern cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with clinical teams and technical experts.
- Technical expertise that enables meaningful conversations with product architects & engineers. Positive, can-do attitude and value collaboration a must.
Preferred Qualification Include:
- Familiarity with medical and healthcare interoperability standards such as DICOM, HL7, FHIR
- Experience building software as a medical device (SaMD) and software in a medical device (SiMD) solutions, along with hands-on experience in medical device clinical workflows.
Recommended Education:
- BS, MS or Ph. D in Computer Science or related technical discipline
