We have a great opportunity for an Assembly Manufacturing Engineer to join our team! The Assembly Manufacturing Engineer is a hands-on position for executing and supporting development and manufacturing activities of focal plane array (FPA) assemblies. This position will provide guidance and leadership while working alongside the FPA production team in the cleanroom.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Leads and works with technical staff in design, manufacturing, and technical guidance of focal plane assemblies (FPAs).

• Analyzes designs for validity.

• Conducts and oversees in-process inspections and analyses obtained results versus specifications.

• Assembles and manufactures assemblies.

• Contributes to manufacturing troubleshooting, equipment repair and hardware rework.

• Documents and supports failure/root-cause analyses for non-conformities.

• Performs precision alignment, die attachment and CMM measurements.

• Follows work instructions and travelers for all assemblies.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Thorough understanding of basic mechanical, electrical, and optical measurements used in manufacturing.

• Strong, verbal, written and presentations skills to be used for TIS management and customers.

• Advanced computer proficiency using Microsoft Office products and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)

• Displays exemplary ethics, business practices. Works well with people.

• Works under the umbrella of company policies and procedures, especially all safety protocols.

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with three (3) plus years of experience, working as a manufacturing assembly engineer or with similar skills such as precision alignment, mounting, thermal cycling, CMM.

We are adding an experienced Quality Inspector with CMM and mechanical inspection experience to our Quality team! The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing product inspection and/or audits of quality control programs with respect to incoming components and raw materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Performs incoming, in-process and final inspections of materials, electrical components, sub-assemblies, circuit card assemblies and final products to assure conformance utilizing drawings, schematics, specifications and work instructions.

• Ensures raw materials provided by suppliers meet contractual flow down requirements i.e. C of C, chemical physical certifications, RoHS, and REACH

• Works with other departments efficiently and effectively.

• Generates and documents approval or rejection labels, nonconforming reports, photographs, and or diagrams as part of the inspection review process.      

• Minimize down time by focusing on process proactive improvement opportunities and presenting them to management

• Some light lifting of packages required to perform receiving quality inspections.

• May include team lead/supervisory responsibilities as required

Qualifications & Competencies                                                

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:

• Precision mechanical inspection experience

• Ability to interpret and apply GD&T

• First article inspection experience

• Receiving and In-process inspection experience.

• Requires the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specification using ASME Y 14.5. GD&T and skillful use of metrology tools and gages required.

• Programming and operating a CMM as well as other QC inspection functions for precision machined components and assemblies

• ESD protection and handling knowledge and awareness of electronic parts

• Must be proficient with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, drop indicators, microscopes, etc.

• Ability to use microscope for quality inspection of parts for extended periods

• Ability to work in cleanroom attire for extended periods

• Ability to travel to Supplier’s facility to conduct Quality Audits and Inspections

• Exceptional written and oral communication skills

• Ability to document and photograph non-conforming parts or material including reporting any inspection results to MRB

• Must be well organized and be able to prioritize workload in a fast paced environment

• Ability to read technical drawings, requirements, quality clauses, and SOWs

• Working knowledge of Document Control and Configuration Management

• Excel, Word, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat, and ERP/MRP working experience

• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision

• Displays exemplary ethics and business conduct and performs work cognizant of safe work practices

Education and/or Experience                                                 

• Completion of a high school degree or vocational training is required.

• A minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience

• Position requires a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience running a Coordinate Measurement Machines CMM, as well as good working knowledge and experience with mechanical inspection measuring tools and quality processes

• Aerospace work experience a plus

• J-STD/IPC assembly, solder and inspection experience a plus

• Supplier Source Inspection experience a plus

• Wafer processing and production experience a plus

• IPC certifications (e.g. IPC-600, IPC-610, J-STD-001, etc.) a plus

• DelTek, CostPoint, TIPQA, Solumina experience a plus

• Semiconductor fabrication and production experience a plus

• PWB/PCB production processing experience a plus

• Supervisory experience a plus

Teledyne Imaging Sensors is the leader in producing HgCdTe focal plane arrays and we are looking to add an MBE Growth Production Engineer to our Infrared Materials Group for the second shift (~11:00am-7:00pm).

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical engineer who excels in MBE growth production and enjoys working as a team. The MBE Growth Production Engineer is responsible for the MBE growth and characterization of HgCdTe wafers for the production of high performance infrared focal plane arrays and detectors.

This involves MBE tool ownership from tool use planning, tool maintenance and repair, growth structure design, recipe writing, wafer growth, post growth wafer characterization and correlation of MBE growth results with final device performance.

As a member of the technical staff, the MBE Growth Production Engineer is encouraged to innovate new growth and characterization techniques for continual process improvements for yield enhancement and increased wafer throughput.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Hands-on expertise with MBE growth of semiconductors is required.

• Hands-on experience in MBE tool maintenance and repair, with a desire to be hands-on in the laboratory working with the technical team maintaining and operating an MBE tool.

• Direct experience and expertise in semiconductor material characterization (structural, electrical and optical).

• Background in opto-electronic semiconductor devices, optics, electronics, software, cryogenics, radiometric, and modelling, test, and analysis methods.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Education and Experience:

• PhD or MS degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.

• Five plus (5+) years of related hands-on work experience in III-V or II-VI semiconductor MBE growth and characterization of semiconductor materials (direct HgCdTe experience is preferred).

• Experience modeling infrared detector performance and correlating detector performance to MBE growth and device processing parameters.

• Prior experience in MBE growth in a production setting, with a track record of successful production execution is desirable.

We are looking for a Senior Test Engineer to join the team! The Senior Test Engineer provides technical and hands-on leadership and development in system design for testing Teledyne Imaging Sensor’s highly complex FPA Testing program and by assuming the responsibilities of characterizing, testing and evaluating infrared focal plane arrays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Develops novel approaches and new analysis methods for FPA testing.

• Leads development of the test stations from concept through release into production, based on the flow down requirements from System Engineering or customer.

• Hand-on work with building test equipment (electronics and dewars)

• Tests infrared and visible FPAs to verify and validate test systems and support debugging/tuning of new ROICs, ASICs and detectors.

• Creates detailed test procedures and related work instructions.

• Provides test data analysis in the forms of reports and presentations to program managers, internal engineering teams and customers.

• Provides customer support for pre and post-sale, supports customer requirements definition and concept of operations development

• Performs post-delivery debugging of device operation and optimization of device performance in customer environment.

• Frequently works with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for tracking and reporting of data

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies  

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:

• Advanced computer proficiency level using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)

• Understanding of infrared detector performance and test system development.

• Knowledge of read out integrated circuit (ROIC) operation.

• Understanding of test system operation

• Skills in IR FPA performance testing

• Ability to provide hardware/software specifications.

• Knowledge in hardware integration and validations.

• Familiarity with cryogenic test systems.

• Clearly communicates very complex ideas, in writing and verbally.

• Performs work without appreciable management direction and exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.

• Able to handle multiple challenging unstructured areas of responsibility.

Education and/or Experience

• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with ten (10) years of experience in sensor systems integration and testing

• Experience in the supervision of department staff

Job Summary:

Teledyne Scientific & Imaging is looking to hire a full-time intern to contribute to advanced research projects across the fields of applied neuroscience, engineering and computer science. 

The position is for onsite work at our Durham, NC office and will provide opportunities to learn about cutting edge research on brain machine interfaces, computer vision and machine learning. The responsibilities will include assisting with brain computer interface research, algorithm and software system testing and data analysis and/or modeling.

Detailed Description:

The successful applicant should be working towards a bachelors degree in engineering or the sciences and have at least 2 years of coursework in mathematics, biology, engineering, computer science or other related fields. 

Experience with digital signal processing and computer programming is a plus.
