We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, and qualified registered Occupational Therapist to join our team at Epsom & Ewell. We are proactive in supporting all our staff to develop, with a focus on continual practice development. This diverse role requires professional experience of assessing for major adaptations, specialised equipment and completing moving and handling risk assessments, with the aim of supporting our residents to live meaningful lives within the community, the very essence of occupational therapy.

About the team
The Children with Disabilities Service works with children with severe and complex disabilities. We work across all areas of social work including Children in Need, Child Protection and Looked After Children. Our goal is to do all we can to support families to care for their children in their own families and we work closely with our multi-agency partners to achieve this. We are focussed on the long-term outcomes for children through being aspirational and supporting independence. This includes making timely applications for Continuing Care Funding.

Our work with the Adult Social Care Transition and Health teams is a key part of this work. We have four Social Work teams across the County with a countywide Family Review Team who support stable and settled families. About the role
We're seeking a qualified and registered Social Worker to take on the role of practice lead for Mental Capacity, Deprivation of Liberty and Continuing Care. As a proactive and motivated professional, you will use your expertise and analytical skills to drive positive change across the service.

In this role you will guide and support staff in achieving and maintaining best practices relevant to their roles. Your responsibilities will include leading Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interest work, collaborating with allocated social workers to conduct assessments and facilitate decision-making processes. There is an expectation that this role will also be working directly with children and young people as the allocated social worker focusing on our more complex situations.

Additionally, you'll lead practice learning sessions to empower social workers in applying the Mental Capacity Act confidently and the Children's Continuing Care framework . You'll provide guidance on completing Deprivation of Liberty applications and assist in developing paperwork, systems and processes to ensure compliance with the Mental Capacity Act and Best Interest Decision Making.

Your role will extend to creating resources and communication materials for young people, parents/carers and professionals to enhance their understanding of Mental Capacity and decision-making processes. You'll also focus on involving young people in their care planning and decision-making, ensuring evidence of direct engagement.

Importantly, you'll strengthen collaborative efforts with Transition Team colleagues and facilitate timely Continuing Health Care checklists as part of the transition referral process. Upholding the Family Safeguarding model of practice will be integral to your work in assessing young people.

About Us

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a brand-new Adolescent Service that is being created in Surrey. This new service will bring together a range services for young people including those who go missing, are involved in gang culture and are vulnerable to exploitation, including criminal and sexual exploitation. Our team includes Social Workers and Adolescent Practitioners who are focussed on achieving positive outcomes for young people. We are committed to doing things differently through implementing a brand-new model for working with adolescents, taking into account current research and best practice.

About the Role

We are looking for enthusiastic people who want to be part of the journey to help shape services in Surrey for adolescents. You will have support from a range of teams in a central hub to compliment the work that you do. This includes Youth Justice, Missing, Edge of Care and Rapid Response, Intervention Support, Risk and Intelligence and Youth Offer. As part of the latter phase of the safeguarding adolescents model, partnership colleagues from Education, Health, Police and other agencies will join the hubs as part of the commitment towards adolescents services in Surrey.

You will work with skilled, passionate, and supportive Team Managers and colleagues, looking at innovative ways to address adolescent risk outside of the home, building relationships with our families and partners so the voices of our young people are heard.

Shortlisting Criteria

We are looking for skilled and passionate adolescent workers who are experienced at working with young people and have the confidence and emotional intelligence to engage others.

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, you application will clearly evidence the following:

• Social workers that have completed their ASYE and are Social Work England registered
• Able to demonstrate skills in supporting adolescents at risk of exploitation, gang culture or other contextual safeguarding risks
• Experience in or willingness to learn about working with young people and an understanding of risk factors for adolescents especially in Surrey
• Capable of working with professionalism and empathy, able to write good quality assessments, implementing contextual plans, delivering interventions and undertaking court work if required

Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK, access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area. This role has a starting salary between £40,929 to £43,735 per annum, based on 36-hour working week.

About the role We have a vacancy in our East Surrey Team based in Leatherhead. We are looking for a competent Social Worker to join our Safeguarding Team working with individuals with a Learning Disability and/or Autism in order to meet their desired outcomes. This includes completing S42 Safeguarding Enquiries, Mental Capacity Assessments and joint working with other professionals including Health and collaborating with other stakeholders such as carers and advocates.
