Senior Support Worker
Preston, Burnley and Lancashire
40 hours per week, Shift pattern - Monday - Friday 8am-4pm / 2pm - 10pm 1 Saturday a month
Primary Purpose of the Role:
The Senior Support Worker acts as a senior operational practitioner, providing guidance and support to teams on matters of practice, quality, performance, compliance, and resource management. They carry a caseload of complex need service users and may line manage support workers temporarily, deputising for Service Leads when necessary. The role focuses on improving the lives of service users by coordinating the provision of direct housing-related support and management services, working with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide operational support across services, offering guidance on practice, performance, and quality matters.
- Coordinate and implement service improvement plans in collaboration with the Quality team and Service Leads.
- Work with the Quality and Safeguarding Team to develop and implement procedures for service users requiring higher levels of support.
- Serve as a safeguarding lead, advising teams on incident management, practice, and reporting.
- Act as an operational subject matter expert, contributing to policy and procedure reviews.
- Manage a caseload of complex need service users and represent services at external operational meetings.
- Deputise for Service Leads, line manage teams of support workers temporarily, and ensure compliance with voids and arrears protocols.
Professional & Technical Expertise:
- Contribute to meeting team performance targets and take accountability for specific performance targets.
- Serve as an operational subject matter expert on safeguarding, policy compliance, health and safety, and support practice.
- Participate in on-call rotations, work flexibly across services, and deputise for managers when required.
Organisational Performance and Compliance:
- Undertake health & safety checks, maintain up-to-date records, and engage in learning and development activities.
- Report any health and safety issues and adhere to financial regulations and procedures.
Housing Support worker requirements
- Enhanced DBS Adults
- Full UK Driving Licence required.
- Minimum 2 years of Housing experience required.
The Package
This is a temporary, Senior Housing Support worker role,40 hours per week for an initial 3 months, covering the recruitment process for a permanent team member, meaning the role could be extended, or become permanent.
