Job Summary

In this exciting and fast-paced role you will be working across APAC (including China, North Asia, South Asia & ANZ) supporting the Head of L&H Reserving, APAC in the management of all L&H group reserving activities with a key focus on IFRS17, Solvency II and any other projects. You will have a high degree of responsibility and autonomy whilst undertaking and leading key projects within the team.

You will also liaise with the auditors on various requirements for the APAC markets.

About the Department: APAC Actuarial

The APAC L&H Reserving team is based in SCOR’s offices in Singapore, Sydney, Beijing and Seoul. This includes business written in c.30 countries and 13 legal entities in the region. We are a diverse and engaged team, providing expert actuarial analysis and insight for our stakeholders. The department is led by the Head of L&H Reserving, APAC.

KEY TASKS

• Provide value-adding insight on the drivers of financial performance, movements in IFRS and SII results, experience emergence, and recommendations for management actions.
• Provide oversight of the production of L&H reserves for Group results (IFRS 17, SII) each quarter, participating in the landing process and ensuring the results are robust.
• Provide support on the annual assumption setting process, reviewing the experience analysis produced by the business and leveraging the analysis to set the best estimate assumptions, working in conjunction with the other APAC L&H actuarial team leaders.
• Work closely with and provide guidance to APAC L&H actuarial teams on issues of methodology, appropriate techniques, and expert judgment.
• Be a key member in implementing various process improvement initiatives within APAC
• Support and coordinate with the auditors in relation to actuarial topics
• Support the Central teams with their review of APAC markets results
• Responsible for end-to-end reserving process for the Singapore statutory reporting for SRAP, producing quarterly and annual RBC2 results, Industry Wide Stress Testing, and supplying stress tests and analysis for the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment
• Work with the Capital Management team to provide accurate insurance risk forecasts to manage capital within the comfort range
• Support the local (Korea) statutory reporting for SRAP - Seoul Branch
• Support and coordinate for ad hoc projects and thematic reviews

Relationships

• Support the Head of L&H Reserving, APAC in being the primary point of contact for the Corporate Actuarial and Group Actuarial teams on all Life & Health matters in the region
• Communication of actuarial issues to other teams in the context of earnings, capital, liquidity, etc.
• Work closely with other teams within APAC, including the modelling team, L&H business unit, colleagues in the wider Finance team, Pricing, and Risk management, to share common knowledge and common purpose.

Experience:

• Qualified/ nearly qualified Actuary (FSA, FIA, or FIAA)

Key duties and responsibilities

To support risk management (underwriting and claim) functions for the assigned markets in terms of the following activities:

1. To implement SGL's underwriting policy and principles as well as to ensure risks assumed on a technically sound and profitable basis.
2. To provide Product Development (PD) services such as designing tailor-made underwriting/claim approach for the targeted segments.
3. Assist in client underwriting quality assurance reviews, due diligence exercises and underwriting process reviews.

The Actuarial Analyst will serve as a member of the APAC P&C Actuarial Reserving team and part of the Global P&C Reserving department within the Finance domain.

The Global P&C Reserving department manages and oversees activities in all its dimensions (Reserving and resilience strategy, modelling excellence and risk assessment cycles, quarterly performance analysis, governance and regulatory activities, feedback loop with P&C stakeholders, Reserving quarterly and annual process reengineering, Reserving community coordination, RECP and global initiatives). The department works closely with the broader Finance functions, Group Actuarial, Risk Management and the P&C Business functions (Pricing and Modelling, Claims, Underwriting).

The APAC P&C Reserving team is based in SCOR’s offices in Singapore, Sydney and Beijing and Seoul covers Property & Casualty Reinsurance and Specialty Business Solutions insurance business. This includes business written in c.30 countries and 7 legal entities in the region. We are a diverse and engaged team, providing expert actuarial analysis and insight for our stakeholders. The department is lead by the Head of P&C Actuarial for Asia Pacific.

The Actuarial Analyst will provide insightful projections of reserve balances in a collaborative environment. They will work closely with Finance, Claims, Pricing, and Underwriting business partners to deliver best-in-class reserve estimates and associated insights. They will ensure accuracy in the quarter close balances under all applicable accounting standards (Local GAAP, Solvency II, IFRS17) and will seek to assist in driving process improvements and efficiencies.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Support the quarterly reserving process, including the review of current internal processes and assessment of required improvements to gain efficiency.
• Assist the team with the annual reserve review and other reserving related tasks, such as CoVs and risk margins calculations.
• Assist with the preparation of regulatory reports.
• Data reviews and harmonisation and creation of ad hoc reports as required by the team/business.

The Lead of the SRAP APAC legal entity analytics will support the Head of APAC Business Servicing & Analytics in delivering all SRAP APAC entity planning and analysis, including quarterly financial analysis, closing/reporting, financial planning and forecasting, expense analysis, as well as ad hoc business analysis for senior management. The role is required to focus on SRAP entity level analysis (i.e. the analysis of full P&L and B/S under local reporting framework) to allow a wholistic assessment on dividend and capital repatriations to Group.

In addition, the role has a key component to further develop and enhance the Apac entity planning and analysis tool as the business in Asia Pacific grows. Key deliverable to enhance the efficiency of the tools and database supporting the overall consolidation of entity actuals and plan financials.

We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Business Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in actuarial and/or finance within the insurance industry, as well as a deep understanding of data analytics and reporting.

The Business Analyst, P&C APAC will mainly support the Market Heads and Underwriting teams across China and Rest of Asia Markets in renewals monitoring and reporting, underwriting plan, business review and undertaking market studies to identify opportunities.

As a member of working groups within the global Analytics and Business Insights function, the Business Analyst will also directly contribute to maintaining and developing tools, data, and analytics, as well as reviewing and improving processes in P&C.

In addition, the Business Analyst, P&C APAC follows the guidance of the Head of Analytics and Business Insights, APAC to harmonize / improve across the regions the Plans and Renewals processes and Analytical tools and methodologies used to assess and control the P&C Business Performance activity by way of dashboards and aggregation tools.

Key duties and responsibilities

1) Take care of the renewals, underwriting plan and business review processes for P&C China and Rest of Asia Markets, including the collection of data, inputs in the tools, and production of reports, analysis and presentations. This includes:

Renewals monitoring and reporting

• Monitor renewals relative to underwriting plan
• Coordinate renewals monitoring and reporting, working with underwriting, pricing and modelling teams.
• Deliver weekly presentations on the status of the renewal

Underwriting Plan

• Support Underwriting Plan process
• Deliver business performance review of portfolios and cedent clustering exercise as a preparation for the Underwriting Plan meetings.
• Identify trends and movements in the portfolio and collaborate with other functions such as underwriting, pricing and modelling, reserving etc. in order to ensure appropriate messaging to top management.

Support to the Business Review needs

• Monitor business performance relative to initial pricing estimates. Regular communication between Underwriting, Pricing and Modelling, Financial Closing and Reserving who regularly reach out for underwriting data.
• Portfolio review deep dives to gain business insights on profitability. Requires coordination with the Finance and Planning teams to discuss any performance / data issues.
• Create and maintain actual vs. expected results from models to support the company's decision-making process.

As the manager’s and employees’ advisor, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) responds and supports the organisation’s strategy and the business needs by defining, proposing and implementing HR action plans. As their single point of contact, the HRBP works with management to understand their business activities and to drive business performance through their teams. The HRBP identifies where their future needs will be, resulting in devising HR strategies and methods to meet those needs and agreed upon implementation plans for the business. The HRBP makes the link between their employees’ portfolio and the HR Community, and therefore leads and promotes locally the main HR processes in coordination with the HR specialists. The HRBP works in close collaboration with specialists (such as payroll, training manager…) and have regular exchange with HR Leaders.

Key duties and responsibilities

Within the SCOR Asia-Pacific HR Team, you are the HR Business Partner for SCOR Global P&C and CFO business units throughout the region (9 locations):

1. Works with management to understand and support business activities and strategies, how they develop their teams and where their future needs will be.

• Is aware of the future business challenges to truly be part of the business by helping managers to deal with these futures changes.
• Identifies and analyses business requirements utilizing to the Leadership & Organisational Reviews.
• Creates their own internal network of contacts (managers, employees, representative staff, etc.) to stay informed about the business needs and issues.
• Through a global approach, actively participates with the business committees and internal events to understand the strategies deployed in the divisions.
• Identifies how the team is managed, understands which functions key and which employees are high potentials and how they can be developed and retained.
• Works through individual and collective HR issues and needs.
• Conducts employee interviews (Exit interviews, Long term leave interviews etc.) and uses information gained to better understand employee opinion to shape future HR activity

2. Devises HR strategies and methods to meet manager’s needs and assists with implementing these plans with the business.

• Accordingly with SCOR’s global HR policies and based on the global knowledge, the HRBP supports the business by proposing action plans to hire, develop, retain and dismiss employees, especially in case of key positions and/or high potentials.
• Supports the development of key employees in line with managers by building Individual Career Management Plans, proposing relevant solutions.
• Takes the opportunity of the annual HR processes (ADI, salary review, free shares attribution, global Partnership promotion and local promotions…) to implement these solutions.
• Supports management and Group HR in building and following up the implementation of succession plans for key positions.
• Actively participates to the evolution of the organization by providing a concrete HR support.

3. Helps the training leader in identifying the training needs for employees.

• Is the single point of contact for the managers and works in close coordination with the training leader.
• Reviews all the training needs expressed during the ADI process.
• Follows-up about the related training actions implemented to respond to these needs.
• Invites employees and managers for feedback and shares this with the HRBP community.

4. Is the key interface of control and communication

• Promotes HR policies toward employees and managers by building a strong relationship with mutual trust.
• Actively participates with the HR community and more precisely the HRBP sub-community to define and adapt global HR policies and processes and proposes solutions to ensure the possibility for local implementation.
• HR advisor for the employees and for all stakeholders within the group (e.g. senior management workforce representatives, associations, head-hunters etc.)

5. Is the key link between their employees’ portfolio and the HR Community

• Represents the HR community and is the single point of contact for the employees and managers for all HR processes (ADI, salary review, free shares attribution, global Partnership promotion and local promotions…), supported by the HR specialists
• Works together with all the members of the HR Community and in particular with the Global HRBP in charge of the respective Comex Domains.
• Is a key interface for the Group HR department, for other HR Business Partners and for the HR specialists.
• Asks and shares information with the different experts (compensation & benefits, training, etc…)
• Provides feedback to local/group HR Management on relevant topics.

6. Is connected with external environment

• Has up to information regarding the local market in terms of employment, local practices and compensation.
• Could participate in relationships with Universities and other relevant organisations – purpose to promote SCOR and attract Talent.

7. Participate in the hiring of new employees

• Supports the Talent Acquisition Specialist at every steps of the process including discussion with hiring managers
• Ensures successful on boarding and integration with line manager

Experience:

• At least 8 years of professional experience in the Human Resources in a generalist and or/ BP role, ideally gained, in the financial sector and in an international environment
• Project management and change management experience.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Coordinates and drives the underwriting treaty activities related to his/her assigned area; manages client relationship and LOB portfolio for assigned markets in coordination with Specialty Line Engineering and Marine & Energy Regional Managers plus regional P&C market units and support functions.

We are looking for a Valuation Actuary to join the APAC L&H Actuarial team.

In this exciting and fast-paced role you will be working across APAC (including China, North Asia, South Asia & ANZ) supporting the Head of L&H Actuarial, APAC in the management of all L&H group reserving activities with a key focus on IFRS17, Solvency II and any other projects. You will have a high degree of responsibility and autonomy whilst undertaking and leading key projects within the team.

You will also liaise with the auditors on various requirements for the APAC markets.

The APAC Actuarial reserving team is based in SCOR’s offices in Singapore, Sydney, Beijing and Seoul, and covers the Life & Health business. This includes business written in c.30 countries and 13 legal entities in the region. We are a diverse and engaged team, providing expert actuarial analysis and insight for our stakeholders. The department is led by the Chief Reserving Actuary for Asia Pacific.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide value adding insight on the drivers of financial performance, movements in IFRS and SII results, experience emergence, and recommendations for management actions.
• Provide oversight of the production of L&H reserves for Group results (IFRS 17, SII) each quarter, participating in the landing process and ensuring the results are robust.
• Be the key member for a project where the project involves accurate reporting and settlement for SCOR-Covea deal.
• Work closely with and provide guidance to APAC L&H actuarial teams on issues of methodology, appropriate techniques, and expert judgement.
• Be a key member in implementing various process improvements initiatives within APAC
• Support and coordinate for the external audits with local auditors in relation to actuarial topics

As the APAC Travel Manager, you will be responsible for planning and managing the travel policy for our company which include duties such as setting up travel budgets, negotiating rates with travel agencies, monitoring of travel activities.

We are looking for a Valuation Actuary to join the South Asia L&H Actuarial team.

This exciting role places you in SCOR’s South Asia L&H valuation team. The team performs valuation activities for the South Asia macro-market, covering 3 offices writing business in c.20 countries. As a member of the team, you will support key valuation tasks and work alongside other teammates attached to the same project(s).

You will support the team in a broad range of valuation activities, which includes reporting for IFRS17, Solvency II, and the various Local Statutory Bases. You may also support non-reporting valuation activities such as model development, stress tests and experience analysis. You will have a high degree of responsibility and autonomy whilst carrying out these tasks.

You will have the opportunity to liaise with colleagues across the SCOR group in the process of carrying out your work tasks. You will also participate in various projects including process enhancements, modelling improvements and data management.

The APAC Senior Legal Counsel is responsible for delivering effective and efficient technical support on legal and compliance matters in respect of the (re)insurance operations of the P&C and Life business units in APAC, and more broadly on a global basis. They also will be expected to support on corporate and transactional projects in APAC, as needed.

The APAC Senior Legal Counsel will work closely with the APAC General Counsel and respective P&C and Life Chief Legal Counsels to understand and respond to the commercial and business-related constraints and pressures on the business functions.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Legal Matters

• Provide legal guidance and support on any assigned transactional, underwriting, (re)insurance contract wording and (as required) claims related matters including policy wording queries, sanctions and embargoes queries, licencing queries and applications, drafting and negotiating agreements (including services agreements, framework agreements and other commercial agreements).
• Support the operations of the P&C and Life business units, including identifying and addressing/mitigating legal risks in the business and support the business by appropriately addressing any legal and compliance risk and developing processes to respond to them for the commercial and legal progression of the relevant business.
• Provide support on an APAC (and as needed on a global) basis in relation to the drafting and negotiation of a wide spectrum of legal, commercial and technical (re)insurance contracts, including keeping apprised of wording developments in other jurisdictions.
• Providing day to day legal advice, guidance, and support to the business in relation to any other legal, commercial, claims and financial matters.
• Participating in Group, APAC, and P&C and Life business unit projects including developing strategy, drafting applicable documents, liaising with both the internal clients and external advisors and project managing process.
• Independently research and investigate legal issues, draft, prepare, file organise and distribute legal documents.

2. Compliance

• Advise on legal and (re)insurance business conduct compliance-related matters and support the Group Compliance Officer, the APAC General Counsel and APAC Compliance Officer with the implementation of Group, business unit and local approved governance and legal compliance policies, guidelines and procedures and provide training on such matters, as required.
• Provide advice, assessment, guidance, and support on legal and business conduct compliance-related matters of the (re)insurance business activities, including (re)insurance regulatory issues (as may be requested), sanctions and embargoes, anti-money laundering & terrorism financing, anti-bribery, anti-fraud, conflicts of interest, data protection and privacy, anti-trust and competition, reputational risks and ethics.
• Provide business compliance training, referrals and tools with respect to the (re)insurance business activities of the business units.

3. Corporate and general legal matters

• Support with ad hoc corporate legal advice as may be requested from time to time
• Provide support and advice on general legal matters (including real estate, general service agreements and other non-(re)insurance activities) to the APAC operations.

4. Reporting

• The APAC Senior Legal Counsel reports directly to the APAC General Counsel.
• The APAC Senior Legal Counsel will work closely in support of the respective P&C and Life Chief Legal Counsels.

Experience & Competencies

• At least 5 years PQE either in a legal practice and/or commercial environment, with a material exposure to the (re)insurance business.

Main Scope

- Support experience studies on lapse and claims experience; deliver good quality experience studies to internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner

- Tracking and monitoring on the treaty level business performance; identify key drivers to emerging experience, in particular, on areas of under-performance, where possible, initiate and drive in-force management actions with the local markets

- Support the inforce monitoring process and reports covering key profitability metrics of various lines of business and to identify emerging trends which can be used by pricing and valuation teams

- Support the annual valuation BE assumption update review project, and other pricing renewal projects

- Work closely with market managers to identify key drivers to emerging experience and the corresponding remedial actions

- Create and manage efficient processes to compile data, study historical experience, store the results, and produce outputs that are easy to use

- Prepare external presentations of experience study results to facilitate the discussions or rate increase negotiations with the clients

- Support technical accountants on the setup of data infrastructure for the treaty management and administration platform

Qualifications and experience:

- Degree in Actuarial or relevant fields

- Good progress in Actuarial examinations from a recognized International Actuarial body

- At least 5 years of relevant working experience in insurance/reinsurance fields

- Strong data management and programming skills in SQL, R, Python, Excel VBA Macro and Microsoft Access. Skills in other softwares such as Tableau will be an added advantage.

- Experience in actuarial concepts and assumptions used for modelling, pricing and financial reporting in financial reporting/valuation department of life insurer or reinsurer

- Excellent oral and written skills in English. Additional Asian language skills will be an added advantage
