What you will do

The Fire Sprinkler Installer is responsible for the installation, service and repair of fire protection systems including wet, dry, pre-action, deluge and foam suppression systems as well as fire pumps and backflow devices.  Installers are also responsible for the execution of the installation project plan including equipment delivery, accurately forecasting installation hours, anticipating potential challenges and properly securing all Johnson Controls tools and equipment at the end of each work period to prevent damage or loss.

How you will do it

• Apply judgment based on practice and precedence.

• May allocate work as a team leader bringing all changes, discrepancies and coordination problems that impair installation activities to the immediate attention of the construction manager.

• Frequently resolve problems through the research of multiple alternatives.

• Maintain proper documentation for all work performed.

• May review project drawings to obtain all facts necessary to perform installation activities according to specifications.

• Must be able to work alternative shifts or weekends to meet customer and/or job requirements.

• May be required to participate in a scheduled after hours on-call rotation.

• Must adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.

What we look for

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the installation and service of fire sprinklers.

• Sprinkler Foreman experience.

• Read and understand construction blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities.

• Ability to obtain and retain any licenses required by National, State and Local codes.

• Valid driver's license with an excellent driving record. 

• Ability to pass a pre-employment background and drug test. 

• Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs.

• Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 60 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.

• Ability to work flexible hours.

• Ability to adhere to, implement and always follow safety guidelines and procedures.

• Excellent communication skills using tact and diplomacy when dealing with customers and team members.

• Strong organizational skills, positive attitude and an ability to learn quickly.

Preferred:

• OSHA or NICET certification.

What you will do:

Inspectors are responsible for conducting routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on Electrical, Fire or Suppression life safety product lines as well as similar competitive manufacturers’ product lines.

How you will do it:

• Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices for the operation of low voltage equipment.
• Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as laptop computers and/or hard copy.
• Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule.
• Input, retrieve and archive inspection documents via mobile device.
• Make minor repairs and programming changes to systems being inspected.
• Complete assigned inspections on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Complete Inspection reports and repair documents with proper coding through communication devices such as smartphone, laptop computers and/or hard copy

What you will do

• Install, program, configure, commission and service Fire Alarm Systems including but not limited to; Simplex, Silent Knight, Firelite, Siemens, EST, as well as other related building system products at customer sites.
• How you will do it
• Execute projects on time and within allocated installation hours.
• Work with the project manager to resolve all discrepancies, and coordination problems that impair installation activities.
• ·Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• ·Read and interpret complicated blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications software/systems, programs, schematics and operational product manuals.
• Coordinate the installation activities with all trades to optimize installation time.
• ·Instruct and train customers on functional operation of the equipment/system. Conduct simulations and answer questions.
• Exhibit excellent customer service skills by consistently communicating with the district staff and customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
• ·Complete project documentation in a timely manner.
• Adhere to all OSHA and SimplexGrinnell safety policies and procedures.
• ·Participate in a scheduled On-call rotation.

What we look for

· NICET Level II certification.

· Local State FA license.

· Three (3) years documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.

What you will do

Our Early Career Sales Engineering (BEST) Program is a 4-month technical sales development program for Recent College Graduates that focuses on creating market share by strategic selling Johnson Controls’ HVAC products and services to commercial customers. In this program you will have a chance to apply your technical engineering knowledge and business acumen to work with customers to better understand their product and project needs by being the subject matter expert. As part of the program, you will participate in a 4-month training and development program combining classroom, field orientation, and on the job training. What you will do 

Fire Alarm Installers are responsible for assisting the Lead Fire Installer with conducting installations.

How you will do it 

• Assisting Lead Fire Installer with installing fire alarm systems
• Assist with close out documents and fire inspections.
• Follow and maintain a highly structured Contruction schedule.
• Perform duties with the safety of yourself and your colleagues and customers in mind 100% of the time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to work overtime, including weekends and out of time from time to time
• Demonstrate a high level of customer service 
• Able to work well with others 
• Self-starter who can eventually work with little to no supervision 
• Ability to learn and develop skills
• Able to follow verbal and written instructions 
• Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 70 lbs. 
• Must be able to climb ladders and willing to work with scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet. Understanding this may include working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings etc.  
• Able to work flexible hours including alternate shifts or weekends to meet customer requirements 
• Able to adhere to, implement, and always follow safety guidelines and procedures 
• Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements 
• Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test

What you will do:

The candidate will maintain and grow a route servicing existing fire extinguisher, kitchen hood, e-light and pre-engineered and possibly engineered gas system customers. Inspect, service, repair and install 2 or more suppression product lines, emergency lights, fire extinguishers, pre-engineered and industrial systems according to safety requirements and manufacturer's specifications.

How you will do it:

• Make recommendations based on manufacturer's specification and state/local codes.  
• Identify deficiencies. Quote, sell, and repair on-site.  
• Up-sell existing customers to new product offerings and services to meet compliance with current fire code regulations.  
• Sell new accounts on the route based on the same compliance criteria.  
• Meet or exceed quotas set forth by the direct supervisor.  
• Call on potential customers to offer suppression products and services.

What we look for:

• Completion of High School diploma or equivalency. 
• A valid motor vehicle license is required. 
• Proven mechanical proficiency and basic computer knowledge. 
• Ability to transport equipment and tools weighing up to 40 lbs. 
• Ability to work in restricted areas and adept at maneuvering ladders. 
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of customer service. 
• Effective communication skills with both internal and external customers 

Preferred

• Previous experience in the Fire Protection industry preferred. 
• Knowledge of NFPA standards and dangerous goods is an asset.

What you will do

Our Early Career Sales Engineering (BEST) Program is a 4-month technical sales development program for Recent College Graduates that focuses on creating market share by strategic selling Johnson Controls’ Fire products and services to commercial customers. In this program you will have a chance to apply your technical engineering knowledge and business acumen to work with customers to better understand their product and project needs by being the subject matter expert. As part of the program, you will participate in a 4-month training and development program combining classroom, field orientation, and on the job training. You will learn our mechanical equipment and service offerings, customer relationship techniques and leadership skills in preparation for supporting customers in your territory alongside the sales team. You will be prepared to consult with architects, engineers, and building owners on product selections; partner with and learn from internal experts and deliver on business goals. You will be a critical part of a local sales team and a national network of sales professionals.  #BEST 

How you will do it

• Estimate job bids and prepare proposals with contractors, architects and building owners  
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors  
• Complete sales calls to generate new business and build on existing relationships  
• Present solutions to customers for consideration  
• Collect and analyze market intelligence  
• Turn projects over to operations team for execution and installations

What we look for

Required:

• Currently pursuing an Engineering Bachelor’s degree and graduating in December 2023 and May 2024 Program starts June 2024, must be able to work full-time before program begins 
• Strong analytical ability to solve programs and ability to learn quickly  
• Ability to manage multiple projects and cross-functional teams with minimum guidance  
• Strong communication and teamwork skills 

Preferred:

• Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Degree, strongly preferred 
• Previous sales or engineering experiences through co-ops, internships, part-time or full-time jobs (preferred)
