About the opportunity
We are seeking a motivated Workshop Trainee to join our team and assist with maintaining and repairing equipment in both a workshop and a farm environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is eager to learn and develop hands-on skills, while working towards a formal qualification.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the fabrication process, including measuring, assembling materials and ensuring all work complies with project specifications
- Maintaining accurate records of work orders, maintenance tasks and other relevant forms
- Assisting with maintenance activities including:
- Delivering prompt, cost-effective breakdown repairs and maintenance services for farm machinery and equipment
- Ensuring proper upkeep of company assets and coordinating timely replacements as needed
- Conducting routine maintenance on plant and machinery to ensure optimal performance
- Learning and applying basic workshop skills, including the use of tools, machinery and equipment
To be successful for this position, you will have:
- A valid C class drivers’ licence
- Enthusiasm and a willingness to obtain a Certificate III or higher in an Engineering trade (mechanical and/or metal fabrication)
- A safety-first mindset and the ability to follow instructions
- A strong work ethic
The successful candidate will be classified as a level one or two employee under the Miscellaneous Award (based on the relevant Award criteria). Depending on previous experience and skills, a base hourly rate that exceeds the award rate may be offered to the successful candidate.
