Renfrewshire Council is providing another fantastic opportunity to individuals interested in becoming an Early Learning and Childcare Modern Apprentices and who are keen to begin their career in this rewarding and expanding sector.
Building on our successful Modern Apprentice Programme, the main duties of the post are: to contribute to the provision of a safe, caring, healthy, pleasant and stimulating nursery environment for all children; to support the implementation and delivery of relevant curriculum in line with national and local guidance; to assist in the planning, recording and evaluation of suitable programmes of activities; to contribute to the maintenance and recording of children’s assessment progress and to the promotion of parental participation.
This programme is open to applicants of all ages from 16 years and over. You must be a Renfrewshire resident and have gained 3 National 5 qualifications (or equivalent), one of which must be English. It is essential you can demonstrate a genuine interest in working with young children and promoting their development in an early year’s environment and a clear willingness to participate in your ongoing personal development.
It is also essential that you have effective interpersonal and communication skills and can work as part of a team. You should be able to use your own initiative, be adaptable to change and be flexible to meet the needs of the establishment.
It is desirable that you have experience of caring for young children or have volunteered or worked in a relevant care setting e.g. caring for your own children, working or volunteering in an early education and childcare setting, youth group or other voluntary work within the caring sector.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview week commencing 9th December which will include a practical assessment task within a nursery.
Anticipated start dates subject to satisfactory checks for the successful candidates will be February/March 2025.
This is a fixed term post for the duration of the Modern Apprenticeship (2 years) with excellent opportunities for permanent employment on completion.
Due to current under-representation within this Modern Apprenticeships framework applications are particularly welcomed from those Priority Groups identified by Skills Development Scotland – namely those with disabilities, males and individuals identified as being from a Black or Minority Ethnic Community.
Successful candidates if not already registered with SSSC will be required to do so.
If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post.
