Post-holders may be working with a wide range of patients who meet the service acceptance criteria for Special Care and Paediatric Dentistry - including people with learning difficulties, mental health problems, complex medical conditions, those experiencing complex social problems, severe anxiety and phobia. Under the guidance of the consultants, the post holder will be responsible for the clinical care of Obstetric and Gynaecological patients. The post holder will work with all of the consultants in the Directorate. We have 2 teams on call one for Obstetrics and separate team for Gynaecology (consultant, registrar and junior tier) To assist at Out-patient clinics (Antenatal and general Gynaecology). To participate on call as part of the middle grade rota 1:8 Perform surgery in obstetrics and gynaecological within his/her capability without supervision and if difficulties arise beyond his/her competence to consult the relevant or on call Consultant. To be responsible for the maintenance of proper case records and investigations on patients, and correspondence with General Practitioners and others as required In our department opportunities exist for Clinical Fellows to develop and train in Ambulatory Gynaecology (comprehensive service providing outpatient hysteroscopy, Myosure and endometrial ablation), Colposcopy, endometriosis management, infertility, Maternal Medicine and Urogynaecology. We have well established multidisciplinary endometriosis and pelvic pain clinics, Fetal medicine scan clinics and diabetes clinics. The embedding and orientation of tissue samples selected for diagnostic evaluation requiring significant knowledge and experience of histological and anatomical structure. The production of microscopical preparations requiring extensive hand and eye coordination to produce high quality diagnostic sections using complex, skilled microtomy and handling techniques, for both paraffin wax and urgent diagnostic frozen sections. The preparation of complex stains, working solutions and reagents in order to perform routine and specialised histological, histochemical and immunocytochemical investigations. 14. To undertake routine and specialised histological, histochemical,and Immunoperoxidase and immunofluorescent investigations on diagnostic tissue specimens in accordance with Standard Operational Procedures. To have precise pipetting skills where accuracy and precision are required. To undertake investigations arising from UKNEQAS Quality Assessment participation, including Cellular Pathology Technique and Immunocytochemistry. Key Tasks and Responsibilities: Clinical and Service Provision: To work as a trainee mammographer / mammographer to a high professional standard producing quality mammograms while adhering to time constraints and ensuring a positive experience for the client to encourage re attendance. During and/or following training: To undertake complex and highly specialised techniques including the use of stereotactic equipment for wire localisations, core biopsy and VABs. Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Assessment Meeting to determine patient pathways through clinic. To communicate effectively with clients and patients to ensure they understand the screening or symptomatic pathway. Utilise medical and radiographic knowledge to assess the ability of the client/patient to comply with the examination and adapt technique if required. Supplies relevant health promotion information and answers general health queries, referring to General Practitioner on other health issues if necessary. Ensures that all mammography and ultrasound images are properly labelled with patients name, side examined, and date of examination and coded if appropriate. To enter information of the examination into the Radiology Computer System/National Breast Screening Service(NBSS). Ensures that radiation safety measures are being observed within the limits of the procedure being carried out and that own standard of Radiation Protection is in accordance with the "Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017". IR (ME)R 2017 and any other relevant legislation. Ensuring that, on completion of examination, the patient/client is informed how they will get their results and when they may leave; arrangements are to be made for transport if necessary. To care for the patients in the department especially in their own area of work. To communicate to patients any delays likely to affect them, and within the standards set by the HCPC to describe examination findings, if appropriate. Occasionally communicating unwelcome news to patients within the clinic environment. When required to advise on patient preparation and/or seek advice as appropriate. To be responsible for own workflow (including out of hours and lone working) within the designated area ensuring that clinical requests are acted upon as appropriate and that a good throughput of patient examinations is achieved. Monitors quality of Radiographic technique to ensure less than 2.7% of clients are recalled for repeat examination. Participates in peer review of images and works with colleagues to identify problems and trends. Undertakes daily, weekly and monthly performance monitoring tests on equipment to ensure optimal technical quality of images. Has underpinning knowledge to interpret Quality Assurance test results and know when and how to take remedial action. To participate in Medical/Clinical Audit of examinations. To attend Trust mandatory courses i.e. fire, manual handling, Health and Safety courses To maintain Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Responsibilities To be responsible for the maintenance, quality assurance and infection control of any equipment used in order to maintain quality standards To produce technically satisfactory results in accordance with national and departmental protocols and standards To report all untoward events or uncertainties to a senior grade Cardiac Physiologist or Head of Department To adhere to all Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and departmental policies and procedures To visually and verbally risk-assess every patient prior to carrying out any clinical investigation on the patient Clerical Duties To carry out general clerical and administrative work, to include filing of all patient clinical investigation reports carried out within the department, to maintain efficiency within the department when a copy of patient clinical reports are requested To liaise closely at all times with nursing, medical and paramedical staff that make use of the Cardiology service to ensure duties can be carried out effectively and efficiently To compile daily statistical records of patient activity To assist with the input of clinical activity onto Oasis and the departmental database
