To practice according to the NMC Code for standards of proficiency for registered nursing associates. Provide patient centered care, whilst maintaining privacy and dignity at all times. Work alongside the registered nurse to undertake, deliver and monitor patient care, whilst managing own workload. The post holder will: Contribute to the Trust medicines optimisation agenda to ensure delivery of a safe, clinically and cost effective pharmacy service Undertake or willing to work towards Medicines Optimisation training Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to deliver patient focused care and ensure a timely supply of medicines, utilisation of patients own medicines and medicines adherence training Participate in medicines optimisation, ward top-up and ward-based dispensing Provide dispensary-based patient services to inpatients and outpatients including clinical trials Complete or work towards working as an Accredited Pharmacy Checking Technician qualification To contribute to the education and training programme for all pharmacy and clinical staff To meet the department and Trusts audit agenda and quality improvement objectives Undertake a course in Education and Training to facilitate learning Through provision of an effective Pharmacy service, this post will; Challenge your problem solving skills Strengthen your organisational skills by co-ordination and prioritisation of work Improve communication skills Development and expand on management and leadership skill The post holder must hold Level 3 BTEC and NVQ in Pharmacy Services Certificate or equivalent and must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

To ensure high standards of care are given to all patients, monitoring this through spot checks and clinical quality indicators outcome measures. Contribute to patient and relative feedback by undertaking daily clinical rounds with the aim of providing excellent standards of care. To collaborate in the assessment of patient care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of plans of care, ensuring high standards of evidence based care. To ensure communication with patients and significant others is established, ensuring empathy and reassurance regarding, assessment, care and treatment. Be accountable at all times for ensuring that safeguards are in place for patients, in particular those adults or children at risk. To facilitate early discharge planning being carried out to enable appropriate arrangements to be in place for patients leaving hospital or transferring in order to achieve a safe and timely discharge from hospital. To ensure that all patients are cared for in a clean and well-maintained clinical area, ensuring that all staff are aware that they are directly responsible for cleanliness standards when in charge and escalating issues when necessary.

Use Trust IT systems to ensure relevant and appropriate patient information is entered and captured. Handle and distribute post within the department. Photocopy documents as required. Actively participate within allocated teams to ensure duties and responsibilities are equally shared, including covering staff absences. Monitor own workload and escalate to your manager if performance is below the required level. Report any problems relevant to the department to the Private Care Manager and log issues to Estates or Digital Services. This fellowship year will provide specialist training in the following:- MDT administration and delivery for tertiary referrals Pre and post-op ward rounds Surgical multidisciplinary procedures Clinics & theatre list Clinical research including data collection and audit. Preparation of abstracts and papers for presentation and publication The post is dedicated to the development of high level clinical and research experience in the field of spinal deformity correctionAdditionally the fellow will prepare a surgical plan for each patient. Participation and presentation of interesting/complex cases at the weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings for spinal deformity patients. In addition to routine clinical commitments and research session the fellow may also be called upon to occasionally teach MSc students, specialist registrars and more.

This role will primarily be focussed on supporting the Clinical Team within Rheumatology and Metabolic. Duties will include: registering new patients, ensuring patient details are correct, actioning Clinic Outcome Forms (COFs), booking patient follow-up appointments, managing the follow-up waiting list, attending patients on the booking system, NoteOn filing, scanning, printing letters, cashing up clinics, managing Rheumatology and Metabolic inbox, fully utilising clinics, recording and validating activity on PAS systems, and liaising with internal stakeholders. Good understanding of the 18 weeks referral to treatment (RTT) standard and waiting list management experience is desirable. To support the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse, acting as a deputy when the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse is absent. In areas within the organisation nurses may be banded at 6 by virtue clinical reasons, for example, critical care. The NCRF Infrastructure sits within Newcastle University and encompasses the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at our Royal Victoria Infirmary site, the Clinical Ageing Research Unit (CARU) at our CAV site, the Dental CRF in our Dental Hospital and the Pediatric CRF which is co-located within our RVI site. We operate mainly as an outpatient facility with patients usually attending between Monday and Friday although occasional evening and weekend working is required as studies dictate. The CRF specialises in early phase clinical trials as well as supporting complex later phase studies. We often support international trials and due to the nature of early phase research we are working with new and groundbreaking therapies, in specialty areas such as respiratory, rheumatology, mitochondrial research, and gene therapy. This role requires an individual with excellent organizational and communication skills, effective time management, basic IT skills, knowledge of data collection systems and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. The successful candidate will work as an integral member of the CRF research delivery team to provide clinical care to study participants and their families who are participating in research.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse who wishes to develop clinical research skills.
