Role: Nurse Team Leader Location: Cambridge & Peterborough Salary: Competitive + £4200 Car Allowance The overall purpose of the Lung Cancer Screening Programme is to enable the early detection of lung cancer to save lives. The targeted lung health check (TLHC) has been implemented throughout the UK in areas identified with high disease prevalence where significant impact can be made from the recognition of early-stage lung cancer & offering curative treatment. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced respiratory nurse to join our established nursing team as the Team Lead for our Targeted Lung Health Check Programme in Sussex and Surrey. This role will be fundamental to the delivery and running of a high quality and effective service which will identify asymptomatic people, providing early diagnosis of both lung cancer and other lung diseases. You will provide clinical expertise and assist the operations manager in leading the nursing team to organise and deliver services that are joined up and provide seamless care. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running, coordination and delivery of the lung health check service to include line management duties of the nursing team. You will work closely with the Clinical Lead, HON and our commissioners to provide and ensure the continual professional development and overall performance of the nursing team to ensure that the services we provide to our patients are of the highest possible standard, supporting the nursing team to deliver a TLHC programme both virtually and face to face which is delivered in accordance with the National Standard protocol and framework. You will play an active role to share your clinical expertise working collaboratively with the clinical team by attending weekly screening review meetings. Where applicable this may include overseeing the timely and accurate management of all nodules and 24 m recall incidental findings. You will have an opportunity to be part of a collaborative team of pioneers delivering and developing pilot programmes nationally with the aim to inform and contribute towards the ultimate creation and delivery of a successful national screening lung cancer programme. Most of our established current programmes cover a large regional and geographical area so candidates must be prepared and willing to travel to all agreed mobile clinics for their agreed area. Candidates must be adaptable around mobile working and willing to work 12-hour shift patterns as our standard working pattern. This role offers flexible office working hours as well as undertaking regular patient clinics to provide supervision, cover for sickness and annual leave as required. What you will do: Ensure that that the services we provide to our patients are of the highest possible standard through the demonstration of clinical expertise. Be a highly visible clinical role model leading by example. Assist the operations manager with the day to day running of the nursing service and assist with line management responsibilities as agreed per programme. Ensure a competent and confident nursing team by facilitating opportunities for shared learning in the workplace. Utilise and share clinical assessment skills and expert knowledge of the TLHC pathway from the patients perspective to the nursing team to ensure the service provides seamless care and a competent workforce. Work collaboratively with the clinical team and represent InHealth attending weekly screening review meetings to ensure the timely and accurate management of nodule surveillance and 24 m incidental findings pathways where applicable. Remain abreast of the developments in clinical practice and represent InHealth by attending stakeholder/commissioning and clinical meetings as required to inform and contribute to shared learning and findings to support the continual development and improvement of services. Troubleshoot clinical issues experienced in clinic, which have been escalated by the nursing team and escalate all operational issues directly to the operations manager. To inform the operations manager of the necessary equipment required and ensured this is maintained to ensure safe and efficiently run clinics. Assist the Clinical Lead and HON to put remedial actions in place to assist underperforming areas. Assist the HON with the advice needed to reduce and report risks. Support the Clinical Lead and HON in the development and delivery of policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines and undertake clinical audit in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues across our shared care organisations. You will have experience of: Evidence of ongoing and sustained continuing professional development. Supervising members of staff and offering support and guidance where needed. Working in line with national and local policies. Working within teams and or external stakeholders from a variety of different backgrounds. Qualifications/training required: Essential criteria: First level registered nurse with a minimum of 2 years working at a senior level of Band 7 equivalent or minimum of 4 years working at Band 6 equivalent to include respiratory nursing. As the Emergency Preparedness Manager, you will be expected to: Strategically develop, manage and provide an expert and high-quality specialist Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response and business continuity advice function for the Regional Centre. Lead in the development of guidance for UKHSA health Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response strategies for the Regional Centre and to contribute nationally as appropriate, in compliance with UKHSAs status as a Category 1 responder under the Civil Contingencies Act. Where appropriate lead and manage the Emergency Preparedness Administrator(s) in the team. Ensure the Region's resilience by providing strategic direction in the development and coordination of the organisations emergency preparedness and planning arrangements. Ensure the Regional Centre business continuity plans are in place and tested regularly. Actively contribute to and sustain the formulation of regional policies and strategies, contingency guidance and plans, through liaison with the emergency services, the military, Other Government Departments (OGDs), Local Authorities (LA's), other responsible agencies e.g. public utilities, voluntary agencies, industry and commercial organisations. Liaise with Local Resilience Fora to ensure that UKHSA involvement in regional and local multi-agency exercises can be met within existing capacity. Ensure all emergency preparedness activities in their area of responsibility are audited in a way consistent with UKHSAs status as a Category 1 responder with respect to the CCA. Co-ordinate and lead when appropriate, internal response support arrangements during major incidents and business continuity disruptions particularly at a local level. Support the Region in its contribution to the Local Resilience Fora and Local Health Resilience Partnerships and to represent UKHSA at these fora which may require taking forward of specific areas of work and participation in sub-groups as necessary, taking part in local risk assessment discussions. Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for full details of responsibilities To triage/screen new referrals alongside the Clinical Lead To undertake ADHD Diagnostic assessment for people referred to the Adult ADHD Service. To practice as a supplementary/independent non-medical prescriber initiating and reviewing medication. To review with service users their response to prescribed medication in accordance with the local Adult ADHD Shared Care Agreement To be able to communicate with and meet the needs of service users, their families, and carers as appropriate. Provide a high level of clinical expertise in the assessment, management, and care of people with ADHD To actively participate in clinical supervision Ensure good communication with other members of the team To work in partnership with other Trust Services and agencies to gain the best person-centred outcomes for the service user Utilise recent research findings in the advancement of best practice and in the delivery of an evidenced based service. Identify and be responsive to the diverse cultural, social, and spiritual needs of all patients. Promote general health education and specifically mental health education to the client group. Identify and intervene proactively in situations that contribute to an unsafe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Ensure the effective and efficient use of all resources. Be aware of the responsibility to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors Perform any other duties that may be required from time to time To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard and within current quality initiatives within the area of work. Ensuring the identification, recording and use of relevant performance data The post holder will work collaboratively with all disciplines as part of a multidisciplinary team to assure a high standard of care, working collaboratively to resolve issues. Uses knowledge of business and management principles and strategies for the promotion of quality developments and efficient use of resources. Promotes accountability for practice and strives to attain the highest standards. Promotes and uses evidence-based approaches to practice management To ensure that services are delivered within an appropriate clinical governance framework, monitoring, and evaluating standards of care, and to raise concerns with Service Manager as necessary including through active use of the Risk Register. To undertake investigations of complaints, clinical reviews, and Serious Incidents To chair meetings and provide cover for the Service Manager Adopt an appropriate style with staff for achieving group objectives monitoring and evaluating workloads. Providing vision and inspiration through effective clinical leadership to ensure that the skills and competencies of staff are actively developed as appropriate Be conversant and proactive with Government legislation such as the Mental Health Act, Clinical Governance and NHS Long Term Plan, NICE Guidelines and Quality Standards, Mental Capacity Act and the Care Act. Encourage, promote and maintain effective communication with other CPFT teams and services and external or statutory agencies to promote continuity of clinical care for service users. To liaise with other disciplines involved in the provision of therapeutic interventions on a regular basis to ensure seamless care for service users. Ensure patient care is delivered within the least restrictive environment. Ensure effective and appropriate deployment of staff, monitoring retention, sickness, absenteeism, working performance and taking appropriate action at the earliest opportunity. Manage human and budget resources to an optimum effect, reporting to the Service Manager as appropriate. Motivate, train and develop staff (appropriate to banding and roles) through Personal Development Plans and Individual Performance Reviews to enable staff to work to their full potential.
