The Inpatient Wards at our Community Hospitals are at the heart of what we do. The inpatient Wards offer a 24/7 service to provide a high standard of care and support for patients where care can no longer be delivered in the home due to the complexity of their condition. As a Health Care Assistant/ Support Worker you will be responsible for participating and assisting in the delivery of care / services to patients and service users as part of a Mental Health and Social Care Health Service. Health Care Assistant, Social Care Workers and other Healthcare Support Workers employed by the Trust are required to follow the guidance set out in Code of Conduct for Health Care Assistants/ Health Care Support Workers to provide safe and compassionate care of a high standard, and to challenge others who are not. You will receive direct supervision and partake in reflective practice / training on a regular basis and be required to meet the Care Certificate standards. All successful applicants will also have the opportunity to discuss the prospect of undertaking a Level 3 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship alongside their substantive post. This apprenticeship would include the Level 3 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare. Previous experience is desirable but not essential. If you are new to care and hold no experience in healthcare, then we offer a fantastic development opportunity with a structured development plan (including achieving the Care Certificate). You will progress from a pay band 2 to pay band 3 on achievement of the Care Certification. Use a range of assessment skills and knowledge of psychometric tools appropriate for the client group. With the overall supervision of a clinically qualified psychologist, plan and prioritise their own work load. Use computerised systems for record keeping and reference. Communicate complex information sensitively. Implement therapeutic programmes, group sessions or other aspects of care programmes on a clinically supervised basis. To engage in periods of concentrated effort, both mental and physical (report writing, assessment sessions). Be required to work with individuals who have experienced or may experience emotional distress. This may involve being exposed to aggression in face-to-face work with patients: a high degree of professionalism must be maintained at all times. Receive regular clinical supervision from a senior clinical psychologist in accordance with good practice guidelines and the overall framework of the services policies and procedures. Contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings and agencies serving the client group. Use a variety of methods to communicate complex information in an understandable manner. This includes using trust-approved interpreters, written and diagrammatic information, audiotapes and role-plays. Assist the patient in all activities of daily living, with both direct and indirect supervision as delegated by a registered nurse. Maintain patient comfort, dignity and privacy at all times. Prepare patients drinks, serve meals, and provide assistance as required. Assist in the emergency resuscitation of patients, following appropriate training. The post holder will be the point of contact for all administrative issues relating to patients pathway of care. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and will provide support in the proactive management of the patient pathway from referral to discharge, ensuring the entire pathway is managed smoothly. To assist, under supervision, with routine duties of a technical nature, including the supply and distribution of medicines to trust wards, departments and team bases. To visit designated wards and departments to provide a ward stock topping up service as part the ward rota working to pharmacy standard processes, ordering medication and maintaining stock supplies. To support the pharmacy team through the provision of clerical and administrative work. To be able to competently dispense an array of medication from a variety of order forms. To be responsible for a range of technical duties in the dispensary to aid in the smooth and efficient running of the department. To work together with other pharmacy colleagues, in the dispensaries and wards, to provide patients with an accurate and timely supply of medication from admission through to discharge.
