Clinical responsibilities Utilising Trust policies and protocols, under the proximal supervision of the clinical practitioner, the assistant practitioner will: Undertake asymptomatic screening and be able to order routine bloods/investigations and have a basic understanding of normal and altered values. Undertake a designated range of patient assessments such as reviewing a medical history and reporting any changes to the clinical team. Utilise clinical skills appropriately to enhance the delivery of patient care e.g. Venepuncture, immunisation and provision of medication under direction of Patient Specific Directions (PSDs). Manage and maintain own treatment lists for Chlamydia and a range of routine contraceptions, with use of PSDs. Manage and administer cryotherapy treatment to relevant and appropriate patients. Undertake partner notification (PN) and/or support patients to use online e-PN. Assess those patients with special need such as those under 16 and discuss with clinical team where appropriate and according to Trust guidelines. Manage recall of patients such as Hepatitis A/B & HPV vaccinations, repeat Chlamydia testing and Depo Provera injection. Function as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team Organise and prioritise time effectively. Undertake clinical audits for example infection control audits Undertake pregnancy testing according to clinical protocols liaising with clinical team where appropriate according to clinical guidelines. Outreach work in the community as appropriate. Recognises the need for referral and undertake appropriate referrals to clinical practitioners and/or services within the NHS, independent & voluntary sectors. Undertake, monitor & record basic observations temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration. Promote and value the rights, responsibilities and diversity of people Team working. Coordinate a team of support workers in care delivery and where appropriate other students. Work effectively as part of a multi disciplinary team recognising the contribution of all team members in meeting patients needs. Clinical: To undertake psychological assessments of clients applying psychological tests, including self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, and others involved in the clients care, under the supervision of a qualified psychologist. To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a clients problems, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist. To collate and report audit data in order to meet the audit requirements of the service. To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings where care takes place. To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings. Teaching, Training and Supervision: In common with all psychologists, to receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines. To gain wider experience of professional psychology within the NHS over and above that provided within the principal service area where the post holder is employed. To develop skills and competencies that assist in the delivery of current duties To contribute to the training and support of other staff in psychological care. IT Responsibilities: To assist in the design of computerised databases and to be responsible for their continual updating and on-going statistical analysis. Research and Service Evaluation: To assist in the design and implementation of audit and research projects. To undertake data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries, using IT and statistical programmes. To undertake searches of evidence-based literature and research to assist qualified clinical psychologists in evidence based practice in individual work and work with other team members. General: To contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, in consultation with the post-holders professional and team/operational manager(s). To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing in accordance with professional codes of practice of the British Psychological Society and Trust and HCPC policies and procedures. To prepare test materials and visual aids as required. To undertake specific administrative duties as required. Working Conditions: The post holder will be expected to work in a range of settings. They will be primarily based within Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion Team in South Sefton Magistrates Court. Some sessions may involve working in other geographical areas both within and external to the Trust. The post holder will also be expected to provide domiciliary visits where required. Post holders must have a capacity to provide services in constrained or adverse conditions and may be required to sit in constrained positions for clinical sessions Travel is an integral part of the post. To answer incoming calls to the practice and sign post patients appropriately. To open and sort all post except private and confidential items. All clinical letters to be date stamped, scanned onto the clinical record and actioned in accordance with the Practice Docman protocol. To audio type referral letters as requested by the clinical team, in line with the referral process, ie fast track and routine referrals, utilising the appropriate referral pathway. To be able to process patient registration and deductions in accordance with practice protocol. Completing administrative forms such as insurance reports and solicitor requests. To summarise patient records in accordance with practice protocol. To be involved in the patient recall system, with the use of software such as accurx and patches. Patient health checks to include phlebotomy, height, weight, blood pressure readings, ECGs & urine sampling and to record all information within the clinical record in line with practice procedure.
