Established in 2004, SMEC Power & Technology has grown to become one of Australia's premium providers of electrical products and services to the mining and industrial markets in Australia and overseas, and Goldfields Rewinds is part of the SMEC Group.
We have a number of positions currently available at Goldfields Rewinds and SMEC Power and Technology, including:
- Underground Mining Shift Electricians: Performing scheduled maintenance, statutory testing, inspections, and installation of underground electrical and communication reticulation systems.
- Projects Team Electricians: Looking after our valued clients' installation needs. Projects are diverse and can include initial power station setups, LV & HV mine setups, HV substation installs, camp & office setups, UG fan upgrades & pump station setups, communications, fibre, Cat6, Co-ax & radio telemetry.
- Switchboard Electricians: Design and construct switchboards. These range from small starter panels, VSDs, control centres to 5000A main switchboards.
- Electrical Engineering Technicians: Responsible for Electrical workshop functions for the installation, testing, repair and maintenance of workshop machines, assemblies and related equipment.
- Electrical Engineering Draftsperson: Responsible for providing electrical engineering drafting for the development of electrical equipment and reviewing of electrical systems, and assisting in estimating costs in support of Electrical Engineers and Engineering Technologists.
- Electric Motor Rewinder: Responsible for repair and overhauling of Electric Motors and Generators, disassemble, inspect, and reassemble Motors and Generators. Prepare inspection reports and qualify the nature of repairs to be carried out. Testing and winding of electric motors. Ability to use Electrical and Mechanical measuring equipment.
- Metal Machinist First Class: Responsible for setting up and operating machine tools to shape and form metal stock and castings to fine tolerances, using detailed drawings and specifications.
- Mechanical Engineering Draftsperson: Responsible for preparing detailed drawings and plans of mechanical engineering work in support of Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists.
- Sheet Metal Fabricator: Responsible for marking off and fabricating structural steel and other metal stock to make or repair metal products and structures such as boilers and pressure vessels.
We have positions available within our workshops operating in locations such as Perth and Kalgoorlie to provide installation and maintenance services for our valued clients.
To be considered for one of the above roles, you will need to demonstrate:
- A relevant trade certificate applicable to the role
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role
- Manual Driver's License
- Ability to pass a police clearance check and pre-employment medical checks (as well as regular drug and alcohol screening)
- Experience in reading and understanding electrical schematics
- Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate
- Demonstrated ability to accurately fault find and utilise your diagnostics skills in your work.
- The ability to organise your workload and plan accordingly to complete tasks
Remuneration packages between $90,000 - $150,000 will be offered to the successful candidates.
