While this position is predominantly be based at Wythenshawe Hospital there maybe some opportunity for working across WTWA as the service requires.

The role of a theatre practitioner is to provide high standards of peri-operative care to patients whilst giving skilled support to surgeons, anaesthetist and the theatre team. Theatre practitioners need a broad knowledge and skill base, including excellent communication, management and teamwork skills as they are involved with the assessment, delivery and evaluation of care ensuring the safety and comfort of patients throughout their perioperative journey.

Surgery

You’ll play an important part of the surgical team by preparing all the necessary equipment for surgery.

You will ensure the correct safety checks are carried out prior to the start of the procedure and are responsible for all surgical instruments, equipment, and swabs during the operation.

You will become efficient and effective in anticipating the requirements of the surgical team and responding effectively ensuring high standards of clinical outcome and best patient experience.

Anaesthetic

To help and support patients before surgery, preparing a wide range of specialist equipment and drugs, including anaesthetic machines, intravenous equipment and devices that safely secure the patient's airway during anaesthesia.

Recovery

You’ll support and monitor patient on arrival to the recovery area and provide appropriate treatment until they have recovered from the effects of the anaesthesia and/or surgery; assessing and treating the patient until they are discharged to a ward.

Our Theatre Department consists of five operating theatres, and six post anaesthetic recovery bays. We are passionate about continually developing our services to provide gold standard care for older people.

This Crisis Response Team and Hospital at Home Senior Discharge Coordinator, Health and Social Care Practitioner role will work in the community based with Crisis Response Team (part of Manchester Community Response), assisting registered professionals (Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Pharmacists and Social Workers).

As part of the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will be responsible for supporting the Crisis Response Team to deliver urgent health and social care to people in crisis and at risk of hospitalisation. They will also support the Hospital at Home service to reduce length of stay in hospital and provide care for patients within their own home.


The successful candidate will be responsible for junior members of staff, undertaking informal and formal support and supervision. The post holder

• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as they will need to liaise with staff at all levels. Work well as part of a larger team as well as have the ability to work autonomously, be able to multi-task and be flexible in their approach..
• Engage and communicate with patients on a daily basis regarding their care with us and the next steps in their pathway.

Role Summary:

You will act as a key member of the back of house catering team to assist the organisation in providing patients, staff and visitors with high quality person centred and safe catering service.

You will assist with the preparation of food and contributing to the operation and cleanliness of kitchens and associated equipment whilst supporting the production, portioning, distribution and services of
meals and snacks.

You will provide a high standard of service in accordance with the contract

A vacancy has arisen for a Biomedical Scientist in the Greater Manchester Immunology Service at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. We were the first immunology service in the UK to hold UKAS/ISO 15189 accreditation and have continually expanded our scope and repertoire of tests to become one of the biggest regional immunology centres in the country.

The laboratory offers a comprehensive test repertoire for the immunological investigation of patients from GPs and hospitals in Greater Manchester and across the North West. The four main areas covered are allergy, autoimmunity, immunodeficiency and haematological malignancy. The service is a major contributor to the Greater Manchester Haematological Cancer Diagnostic Partnership (HCDP).

Working as part of a team of biomedical scientists you’ll provide a high-quality scientific service, assist with the running of a section of our laboratory and the development of the diagnostic service the department provides. THE POST

We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Histopathologist to join our experienced and highly motivated team at the Oxford Road Campus (ORC, although there may be a requirement to work across our other sites). This 10 PA post will join the histopathology reporting team with particular contribution to the skin pathology sub-specialist service. There may be an opportunity if desired to contribute to other sub-specialist areas in Histopathology according to the experience of the candidate and the needs of the department

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

You will join a team of 22 other full and part time Consultants in the Adult Histopathology Department at ORC who provide a reporting service for a variety of specialities including Gynaecological, Gastrointestinal, Dermatopathology, Head and Neck, Ophthalmic and Urology. The main responsibilities of this post would be:
• Together with other Consultant colleagues, be responsible for providing subspecialised histopathology for its clinical users (Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and local General Practices). This may include review of slides of patients who are referred in to MFT for further investigation or treatment from other hospitals. The appointee will have the opportunity to participate in cancer multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) in line with their areas of subspecialisation which may involve travel to other sites.
• Participate in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching and training. The Trust is committed to teaching Specialty Trainees in Histopathology under the aegis of HENW (Health Education North West). The appointee will also be expected to teach histopathology to other allied health professionals. In line with this, there will be provision to review the SPA allocation in the job plan if an appointee takes up such extra responsibilities leading to increased teaching duties.

The work-load throughout the department is very varied and interesting with no two days being the same. The successful candidate must be dynamic, possess excellent communication skills, and have a high sense of professionalism and a strong belief in the value of teamwork.

We will develop your skills to ensure that you work to the highest of standards to triage our patients safely and stream them to various agencies.

You will need to be competent in all areas of the Emergency Department such as triage, resus, majors, ambulance triage, rapid access majors, minor injuries (plastering, suturing, wound care)

You will be RN (Adult)/RGN qualified with at least 2 years post registration experience and have a commitment in progressing within the specialty as demonstrated in your professional portfolio.

As a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse you will be required to support the senior and junior team in ensuring the needs of our patients are met through the delivery of high quality care. The role involves working as part of a large multidisciplinary team including the ED medical team, clinical practice educators safeguarding, mental health liaison team and clinical specialties. The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse works clinically including unsocial hours and will be expected to work competently in all areas of the Emergency Department as well as being able to independently take charge of them.

The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse will assist their Team leader with managing their own team of nurses and ensuring they meet their potential.

As a band 6 Junior sister charge nurse in our busy Emergency Department, you will have the opportunity to work in all areas including children's ED to increase your skill set and competency

You will also be responsible for link roles giving you the opportunity to drive change and improve standards.
