Laing O'Rourke is seeking to recruit a high calibre Accountant, directly reporting to Dartford based Senior Finance Manager and providing support to our delivery portfolio and wider business unit management team. There will be exposure to the business unit leaders, central finance and commercial & operational staff across the business.

Key Objectives

This role includes the preparation of monthly financial statements, budgets & forecasts; overseeing preparation and accurate reporting of Joint Venture accounts, adhering to regulatory requirements and ensuring LOR's accounting policies and procedures are complied with. Proactive cash management is also a key to performing well in this role.

Key Role Responsibilities

• Preparation of monthly business unit P&Ls, Cash flows and Balance Sheets - including accounting for contract performance and performing variance analysis against budget and forecast. Investigating key variances with the individual project teams and challenging assumptions where necessary.
• Preparation of monthly rolling forecasts, along with quarterly Group submissions and preparation of annual budgets.
• Constant monitoring of project cash flow forecasts, understanding the rationale for significant movements and communicating changes proactively.
• Ensure all monthly controls are performed in a timely manner such as balance sheet reconciliations and review.
• Work closely with Joint Venture finance and commercial teams to accurately report the JV financial statements on a monthly basis. Undertake deep dive reviews of JV financial balances to check that controls are being adhered to and figures are being reported accurately.
• Perform financial reviews / credit checks on prospective employers, JV partners and suppliers, liaising with procurement and commercial to communicate any financial risk and make recommendations.
• Support Infrastructure Portfolio Finance Team in delivering ad-hoc project work (e.g. cash maximisation, efficiency reviews, new accounting standard implementation, IT projects etc).
• Responsible for ensuring that accounting records are prepared and maintained in accordance with statutory obligations and in line with LOR wide policies and principles. Provide maintenance and oversight of financial records for example to ensure costs are recorded in the correct place and new jobs are set up correctly.

Precast Technical Solutions - Senior Structural Engineer

CEMC Worksop (Full time and Part time considered)

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join our growing Precast Technical Solutions team. Precast Technical Solutions (PTS) is an integral part of the Explore Manufacturing Design Centre, established to provide end-to-end leadership and best practice in precast design and engineering throughout the full design process. This role is an opportunity to be at the forefront of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) in the UK, with teams developing and delivering innovative solutions, utilising products that we produce through our own manufacturing facility, the Centre for Excellence for Modern Construction (CEMC).

The Senior Engineer role is required to lead structural engineering input on Tenders and Pre-Construction Service Agreement (PCSA) engagements for all DfMA projects across Building Structures, Facades and Infrastructure. The individual will work closely with bid teams to assess existing designs and develop alternative, DfMA product-based designs during the tender process to enable robust pricing and identification of technical risk. Additionally, we are seeking an engineer to take our product sets to the next level, by utilising experience in the implementation of parametric design to optimise the design process of DfMA components and deliver zero carbon products. This will be a critical role in delivering on Laing O'Rourke's target to be a net zero carbon company before 2050.

What will the role look like?

• Conceptualising how insitu schemes can be converted and broken down into precast components, and developing associated connection strategies and designs.
• Provide tender RIBA Stage 2/3 structural design assessments for cost allowances, utilising the CEMC product set.
• Take an innovative approach in determining the best solution for engineering problems, that deliver efficiencies and savings in carbon and material.
• Fully understand Design for Manufacture and Assembly principles (DFMA), ensuring good knowledge of materials, processes, & manufacturing constraints, and undertaking conversion designs to ensure feasibility
• Maintain awareness of ongoing product development and provide input where required to ensure effective development of existing products and introduction of new products
• Consider the full lifecycle of each product, ensuring all precast elements can be safely and efficiently manufactured, stored, transported and installed

Laing O'Rourke is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to manage one of the key areas, on our flagship project - the Ellison Institute of Technology.

Ellison Institute of Technology will continue the Institute's work in cancer research, disease prevention, and global health policy, along with providing educational programming for students from around the globe.

Role & responsibilities:

• Contribute to the achievement of safety targets and zero tolerance of unsafe working practices and occurrences
• To deliver the sub project to the client within budget, Quality Assurance standards, on programme and to stringent safety parameters
• To work with the planning team to develop detailed and accurate short term programmes of work
• To assess the staff capability and performance
• To manage the budget and delivery of the section of the project
• To provide accurate and timely reporting of progress against the plan
• To ensure adoption of innovative ideas from within the business and from the workforce
• To plan the programming of day to day resource requirement and communicate these to the construction team

Qualifications:

• Degree qualified in Construction Management or Civil Engineering - essential
• Extensive experience in Project Management capacity on projects over the value of £200mil

What will the role look like?

The Senior Environmental Advisor will be responsible for implementing strategy, driving innovation and providing environmental assurance across two innovative projects in the Oxford area. The Senior Environmental Advisor will have the drive to provide environmental assurance and technical capabilities to support project leaders and the delivery teams from pre-construction through to completion and handover.

We're looking for a BMS project manager with experience in BEMS, control systems and Tridium Niagara systems to join the team, you'll have the opportunity to manage the pre-construction, construction and commissioning phases of specialist building management systems across some of our projects in the defence sector.

What will the role look like?

• Ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget while taking overall responsibility for health and safety.

• Responsibility for the pre-construction, construction & commissioning phases of specialist Building Management Systems and Controls on major flagship projects.
• Taking the project from handover through design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and soft-landing period of the BEMS package.
• Creating point schedules, and functional descriptions based off building services drawings and specifications.
• Managing and procuring equipment and sub-contractor packages, as well as planning and overseeing all commissioning activities and issuing documentation.
• Ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget to a satisfied customer, updating and reporting progress weekly with any dependencies documented and mitigation procedure put in place to avoid any potential delays.
• Responsibility for the commercial performance of the project including the preparation and submission of variations, and agreement of the same.
• Overall responsibility for health and safety management on all managed projects.
• Managing and agreeing the appropriate purchase and sub-contract orders as required on the projects, manage and review applications for payments and applied for variations of any placed subcontract orders. Ensuring that all outgoing procurement orders are being placed in a timely manner to ensure there are no risks or delays to the project.
• All procurement to be documented and reported.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

• Proven track record of project management in the construction industry with experience in BEMS and controls systems, M&E etc.
• Experience in producing and managing a programme of works.
• Significant experience working to budgets of £0.5m - £5m
• Experience of Tridium Niagara and Honeywell Trend systems
• Experience of managing health and safety in a construction environment
• Valid CSCS or ECS site card
