ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are seeking skilled and reliable Seasonal Maintenance Staff to join the Outback Spirit team at our remote camps and lodges across Western Australia, the Northern Territory, and Far North Queensland. This is an exciting opportunity to work in some of Australia's most stunning and remote locations, providing a unique experience while ensuring that our properties are maintained to the highest standards.
In this essential role, you will be responsible for the upkeep of buildings, equipment, and fixtures, ensuring a safe and functional environment for our guests, visitors, and staff. You will perform general repairs, ongoing maintenance, and preventative upkeep, all while ensuring minimal disruption to the guest experience. For certain locations, the role may require mechanical expertise, making it a hybrid maintenance/mechanic position.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and repair buildings, equipment, and fixtures to ensure a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for guests, visitors, and staff.
Prioritize and complete repairs and maintenance tasks in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
Assist with the repair, servicing, and ongoing maintenance of the fleet, ensuring all vehicles and equipment remain operational.
Drive to pick up supplies as needed to support lodge operations.
Ensure all maintenance work complies with internal procedures, safety regulations, and business objectives.
Adhere to relevant building codes, safety standards, and company policies, including Journey Beyond guidelines.
Liaise with suppliers to source services and materials required for maintenance tasks.
Accurately maintain work schedules, data, and purchase orders in relevant systems, ensuring timely updates.
ABOUT YOU:
You will be a proactive, detail-oriented candidate with a strong technical background and a solid understanding of maintenance and mechanical systems. The ability to troubleshoot problems quickly, coupled with a commitment to delivering high-quality results, is essential. You will also need excellent communication skills to work closely with staff and suppliers, as well as a customer-focused approach to ensure smooth operations.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Trade qualifications in one of the following: electrical, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, carpentry, or building (essential).
Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, along with experience using hand and electrical tools. Ability to read technical manuals and drawings is essential.
Experience in repairing and troubleshooting mechanical equipment.
A valid driver’s license (essential).
HR driver’s license (essential).
Forklift operator’s license (essential).
Previous experience working in remote locations is highly advantageous.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a keen attention to detail.
High level of computer proficiency, with experience using reporting tools.
In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, building codes, and compliance requirements.
Liaise with Head Office to source services and materials required for maintenance tasks.
Accurately maintain work schedules, data, and ensuring timely updates.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is a live-in position at one of our remote lodge locations.

About The Role
The Head of Flight Operations (HOFO) is responsible for safely managing the flying operations for Outback Spirit (Spirit Aviation Pty Ltd) which operates one Cessna Grand Caravan 208, one Cessna 210 and leased assets from time to time. This position is responsible for the control of all flight crew training and operational matters affecting the flying operations, and the duties of the HOFO pursuant to aviation legislative requirements. This position is based in Darwin, NT and is primarily a management position within the operation.
The expectation is that approx. 80% of your time will be spent managing the regulatory and Company requirements of the operation with an approx. 20% flying commitment.
We are seeking a passionate and self-motivated individual to fulfil the duties of the HOFO role. Your collaborative working style will be coupled with your strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. You will have excellent attention to detail, great problem solving/decision making skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
Previous HOFO experience or operational experience in air transport operations similar to those conducted by Spirit Aviation would be highly regarded, as would prior experience leading and managing a team.
Key responsibilities will include:
Managing resources within the flight operations plan and overseeing the recruitment of pilots and other operational staff to ensure flight crew resource availability as per service requirements
Maintaining records of all flying operations and ensuring that flight personnel have the necessary skills, training, license and recency
Monitoring operational standards, training records and supervising the training and checking of flight crew
Leading, developing, managing and mentoring the aviation team, fostering a high-performance environment and retention of talent through proactive training and development
Carrying out the rostering and scheduling of crew, ensuring rostering and fatigue management in accordance with fatigue processes
Ensuring scheduled aircraft maintenance is conducted in accordance with approved maintenance procedures
Actioning the management of change process when changes are required
Managing the drug and alcohol management plan (DAMP)
Maintaining the aviation reference library and access to publications, information and data
Actively promoting the safety culture amongst the aviation team including incident reporting, participating in audits and/or investigations relating to incidents as required and in collaboration with the Aviation Safety Manager and Aviation CEO

Seven Spirit Bay is an iconic wilderness lodge located on the western side of Port Essington on the Cobourg Peninsula. It is only accessible by Outback Spirit boats or aircraft.
We are seeking a strong leader and motivated individual to manage our flagship lodge on a minimum 12 month contract.
This role will see you leading our team through the end of the 2024 touring and fishing seasons, carrying out maintenance in the off-season, and expertly leading your team through the entirety of the 2025 season.
The role will involve, but is not limited to:
Managing team members, inspiring a passion for quality and professionalism
Setting clear goals and expectations, ensuring team members are meeting targets and providing the team with regular feedback
Lead and train the new and existing team members to ensure the standards and quality of work is consistent
Actively working towards meeting the Net Promoter Scores (NPS)
Supporting the continuous improvements of our lodge operations through proactive communications to the Operations Manager/General Manager
Ensuring budgets are met and cost controlled across the lodge
Deliver the business’ guest-facing experience, from strategy through to delivery
Oversite of the food and beverage delivery, experience, and menu in conjunction with the Head Chef and the Kitchen team (this includes cost management, ordering, stock control and waste minimisation)
Drive a culture of safety, ensuring all incidents and hazards are reported and investigated in a timely manner
Complete all administrative tasks as required by the operations team
Take an active role in recruitment, inductions, and team member training
The off season duties will involve project management and liaising with various trades personnel
This is a live-in position in an extremely remote location. We provide flights to and from Seven Spirit Bay via Darwin and will ensure you have time-off and are able to go home while no tours are operating.

About The Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Cruise Supervisor to join our team at Darwin Harbour Cruises. This is a casual position with an immediate start. The Cruise Supervisor plays a key role in providing our guests with exceptional service and quality products during the Cruise Directors days off.
The individual will spend large periods of time on their feet, be exposed to heating elements, work in tight confined spaces and wet or slippery environments. The shifts may involve irregular hours and extended working periods. They will also be required to lift, move and store stock, as well as conduct repetitive actions.
The ideal candidate will be passionate and proud of the food and service they deliver and be willing to go above and beyond for our guests, determined to create amazing experiences and shape lasting memories. You will be a team player with a demonstrated positive "can-do" attitude and have the flexibility to work varied hours including nights, weekends, and public holidays.

About The Role
We have multiple opportunities available for motivated Cruise Attendants / Waiters to join our team at Darwin Harbour Cruises. This position works on a rotating roster with most shifts from 4:00pm - 9:00pm, however this can vary depending on what we have booked for the week. In peak season, we operate 7 days a week, and in the shoulder months when ramping up and down, we operate between 3-6 days per week. The positions are on a casual basis.
As a Cruise Attendant / Waiter, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and creating memorable guest experiences. Cruise Attendants / Waiters are primarily responsible for greeting and assisting guests, delivery of food and beverage services, vessel and passenger safety, vessel presentation and safety briefings.
We'd love to hear from you if you are a team player with a passion for creating memorable guest experiences! Previous food and beverage or fine dining experience is preferred, however if you can demonstrate an exceptional customer service approach, strong communication skills, a positive "can-do" attitude and are comfortable working on water, that's what really matters.

This is a unique opportunity for a passionate, Marine & nature Guide to join the Outback Spirit team sharing our love of the Coburg Peninsula with our guests. You will also be called on for all sorts of things when not out on tour – we are a team and if there’s something that needs doing we pitch in and help out. The Role

Our Camp Attendants are responsible for representing Outback Spirit Tours in a professional and passionate manner. You will be responsible for providing a range of customer service experiences for Lodge guests. The multi-skilled role includes food & beverage service, housekeeping tasks and you will be the guest’s main point of contact throughout their stay.
The role provides an opportunity to live and work remotely for a season in some of the most spectacular settings in Australia.

The Ghan is one of Australia’s iconic train journeys, travelling through the heart of the Australian outback from Adelaide to Darwin. The Ghan stops twice per week in Darwin during our peak period, as such we have a team of people at the Darwin terminal ready to service the train when it arrives in our spirited outback town.
About the Role
Based at Darwin Terminal, the Service Operator Team Leader is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of guest cabins, lounge and restaurant carriages on-train and public areas off-train. The role will provide support to the Service Operations team through coaching and training initiatives and work in partnership with the Terminal Manager. This is a guest facing role.
The key responsibilities include:
Conduct daily briefings with the staff to keep them abreast of day-to-day requirements such as train turn-arounds, deep cleaning and areas requiring special attention
Supervise the work environment as the teamwork in line with the desired instruction and systems that are in place
Prepare cleaning schedules for the return of all carriage cabins, lounge and restaurant carriages from rolling stock operations, ensuring the team operating rhythm is planned and organised
Monitor the quality of linen and record and report any identified issues for supplier resolution
Report maintenance faults, damage to furniture and fittings in all areas of the train carriages and the terminal
Experience with computers and reporting is also required.

As an Administration Assistant with Outback Spirit Tours you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and diverse environment. You will provide daily administrative support to ensure efficient day-to-day operations. Your attention to detail and excellent organisational skills will be paramount in your success in this role.
Responsibilities
Provide general administrative support such as answering phone calls, and responding to emails
Assist with freight when required
Coordination of flights and arranging travel as required
Coordinate the supply of parts to our lodges
Assist with maintenance requests and coordinate logistics of contractors/supplies
Maintain and update company databases, registers and files, ensuring accuracy
Assist with the implementation of the preventative maintenance programs for lodge assets
Implement contractual sub-contractor agreements
Ordering of various items for the lodges such as fuel and equipment
Prepare and distribute documents, monthly reports, and presentations as required
Review and document standard operating procedures
Contribute to the improvement of administrative processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity
Minimum of 2 years of experience in an administrative role
Demonstrated experience using computer based Maintenance Management Systems such as MEX
Working knowledge of maintenance and asset management practices
Knowledge and ability to implement WHS risk procedures into online applications such as PROTECHT
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and individuals

About the role
We are seeking an MED 2 or MED 3-qualified Engineer with aspirations to become a Vessel Master, to join us in a permanent position. Initially joining in a part-time capacity, we will support this individual to complete their Master <24m qualification throughout the 2024 year, to set you up for a full-time, permanent Vessel Master position with Darwin Harbour Cruises.
During our season which runs from February to December, this role will be based at Stokes Hill Wharf on a rotating roster. During the off-season, this role can enjoy time off or be considered to gain further experience at one of our other Journey Beyond businesses across Australia.
Reporting to the Vessel Master, this position assists in the maintenance and upkeep of the Charles Darwin vessel, including:
Performing routine vessel maintenance and repairs to ensure continuous and reliable operation
Conducting inspections, troubleshooting issues, and diagnosing any problems that may arise in vessel mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
Assisting in major repairs and overhauls, collaborating with contractors and suppliers as necessary
Playing an active role in implementing preventative maintenance programs to maximise vessel performance and minimise downtime
Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities through a digital asset management system, including logs, reports and documentation of all work performed
Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards and procedures governing marine maintenance and safety, in addition to adherence with Company SOPs and operational procedures
Working as part of a team, the Engineer also supports with hospitality duties to support the front of house team where required.
About you
The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail and take pride in your work. You are a team player, while also able to work autonomously using your initiative and demonstrated problem solving skills. You will have a proactive and solutions focused approach with a ‘can-do’ attitude to achieve the best outcome for business operations.
To be successful in this role you will have:
An AMSA-issued MED 3 minimum (MED 2 advantageous)
Experience as a Marine Engineer preferably in the marine tourism industry
A valid First Aid & CPR certificate, or willingness to obtain
A valid RSA certificate, or willingness to obtain
