Your new role
The reason for this vacancy is to provide additional senior administrative support to the HR team, working closely with the HR Officer and HR Manager and acting as the first point of contact for HR and recruitment. Hays are recruiting an experienced Payroll Senior, full-time or part-time, for an established Accountancy firm, with the option of being based in Ipswich or Saxmundham with hybrid working.

About the team
In this varied role you will be working within a small, busy team, running multiple payrolls for a wide range of clients who operate in sectors such as retail, the professions, charities, technology and agriculture. The firm runs circa 85 payrolls in total, ranging from single director companies up to a hundred employees.

About the role
This is a role with real scope to further develop your existing payroll skills. You will have primary responsibility for end-to-end payroll processing for a number of clients. If appointed at Senior grade you will also be well assisting and supervising junior staff within the team, on behalf of the department manager, as well as quoting for and onboarding new clients.

Responsibilities will include:

• End to end payroll processing for a range of clients
• BACs payment processing
• Direct client contact
• Payroll query resolution
• Deadline management
• Assisting and supervising junior staff (Senior grade only)

Essential skills required:

• Able to work in an accurate, diligent and methodical manner with excellent attention to detail
• Able to manage multiple priorities at the same time
• Competent in use of IT, especially MS Office (Word, Excel)
• High level understanding and practical application of all areas of end-to-end payroll including:
• o Auto-enrolment pensions
• o Statutory payments
• o Holiday pay legislation
• o Minimum wage legislation
• o HMRC and RTI legislation
• o Directors' payments

Desirable skills and experience:

• Previous experience in a UK practice/professional services environment
• CIPP certificates / Foundation degree in payroll management
