The school is looking for an enthusiastic, creative and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant (TA) to join the team on a temp to perm basis and help provide high-quality education for all their pupils.The role is to support two different children, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. One child is in Year 1. The child has autism and has previously been non-verbal but has begun to speak a few words. The other child is in reception. This child also has autism and is completely non-verbal. This child is severely autistic. The child does not display aggressive behaviours but is very unresponsive, displays sensory-seeking behaviours and needs constant supervision and support.As a SEND TA, you will work under the guidance of teaching and SEND teaching staff, undertaking support programmes that enable access to learning for all pupils with SEND and ALN. You will also help the pupils understand instructions and schoolwork using techniques that work for them, encourage pupils' confidence and independence, and provide feedback and assistance to teachers. You will also support the social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) provision for pupils with SEND and ALN, ensuring their safety and well-being.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A minimum of NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in supporting teaching and learning
* Knowledge of the National Key Stage curriculum, levels 2 through 4
* Knowledge of the broad variety of SEND and ALN that are used
* Experience in working with children with SEND and ALN in a school setting or similar environment
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* A positive attitude, a sense of humour and a willingness to learn
* A commitment to the ethos and values of the school
