The Opportunity
We are looking for a Central Vetting Officer to join our EDF multi-client Personnel Security team within our Nuclear Services Business.

The Personnel Security team make recommendations on an individual’s suitability to hold levels of clearance and work within EDF Energy and the Civil Nuclear Industry.

What you’ll be doing

You will work with a respective approach and provide consistent and high-quality vetting support in accordance with the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), Cabinet Office, and EDF Energy standards.

Day to day, you will:

- Provide an efficient and effective Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and vetting service to the business meeting stipulated delivery targets.
- Provide advice to individuals seeking help with inputting personnel security data into company HR programmes.
- Record and monitor BPSS and vetting clearances that require management support by Site Heads of Security and line managers.
- Ensure that company policy is understood and being met across the business.
- Participate in assisting visits and auditing own and supplier sites to deliver this commitment.
- Maintain a contact list of accredited trainers in fraudulent document recognition and facilitate and maintain the online training package.
- Undertake vetting-related assurance tasks as part of the Nuclear Personnel Security Assurance Programme.
- Take ownership and help development of the vetting database, hosted in a Microsoft SharePoint environment.



Who you are

We are looking for a self-motivated individual, preferably with experience of Personnel Security within a regulated environment. You should be comfortable and familiar with computer-based process and able to follow procedures with an inquiring mind and strong decision-making skills.

Business acumen and excellent customer service skills are a must as you will be a frequent first point of contact for current and future EDF Energy employees and contractors. You will be adept at applying procedural knowledge and dealing with sensitive personal information securely and in a personable and professional manner.

It would be beneficial if you also have:


- Some specific experience of working in the Personnel Security domain and experience with delivering training.
- IT competence in Outlook and Microsoft Office Package, and in particular in report writing, preparing presentations, spreadsheet, and database management.
- Some grounding in the work delivered by a security team.
- Experience in the use of The Microsoft SharePoint platform.
- Experience in project delivery.

What you’ll be doing
You will focus on qualifying mechanical and/or electrical/I&C equipment for accident conditions. As a vital member of the team, your primary role as the EQ Lead Engineer will be to support the EQ Group Lead in coordinating NNB’s design initiatives. This includes leading the daily execution of a portion of the team’s scope, collaborating with other EQ lead engineers, mentoring junior EQ engineers, and overseeing tasks from supply chain partners.
You will manage the resolution of complex technical issues and conduct the technical review and acceptance of design documentation provided by the RD and suppliers. Additionally, work closely with Technical Engineering Leads to ensure thorough design substantiation, build relationships with stakeholders, facilitate communication with regulators, and provide technical input for risk management, all while assisting in the development of less experienced team members.
Who you are
You’ll get to use your expertise in mechanical, electrical, or I&C component design and operation while showcasing your excellent communication skills. A good understanding of Safety Case principles, especially the application of ALARP throughout the project lifecycle, is key to your success. You’ll play a vital role in leading multidisciplinary teams through complex engineering challenges.
Familiar with risk assessment methods and have knowledge of PWR nuclear power plant systems. Understanding UK Nuclear Site Licence Conditions and ONR guidance, as well as French EQ standards for equipment qualification, will also help you thrive. Plus, experience with ageing, obsolescence, or lifetime management of mechanical and electrical systems, along with proficiency in Teamcenter Engineering document management, would be a bonus. A relevant engineering degree and some hands-on design experience will round out your qualifications nicely!

Cyber Assurance: Here, you’ll be part of a team that focuses on auditing and delivering internal assurance for EDF’s cyber security controls across IT and OT, using frameworks like NIST, NCSC’s CAF, and ISO 27000-series. You’ll also audit EDF’s suppliers to ensure cyber risks in our supply chain are managed effectively.

Cyber Operations & Risk: This team integrates risk management across EDF’s nuclear businesses, handling issues and events, collaborating with IT teams, and supporting cyber security training, culture, and threat intelligence for our active defences.

Cyber Requirements: In this team, you’ll set compliance standards for cyber security and track improvements. You’ll also provide vital support to our information security officers, helping EDF stay ahead of risks in a fast-moving environment.


Who you are

You should have a relevant cyber qualification and hands-on experience in cyber risk analysis, reporting, controls assessment, or audit. You’re naturally inquisitive and driven to make an impact from day one. Alongside your cyber expertise, you're great with people and can easily work with various stakeholders who share our mission to keep EDF safe.

You know your way around external cyber standards and procedures, ideally with experience in UK Critical National Infrastructure.

In your role, you will be responsible for ensuring EDF’s compliance obligations across local and international trade restrictions including export controls and sanctions.

You will be tasked with designing, developing, and maintaining EDF’s export control licensing requirements and be responsible for the identification, application and securing of EDF’s export control licences in collaboration with Licensees’ requirements, supporting IT, HR, Supply Chain, Engineering, Project Managers, R&D, and other internal stakeholders as required.

What you’ll be doing

In your role, you will provide expert advice on export control processes and regulations across EDF’s companies. You will assist Senior Specialists in internal and external audits, implementing trade control measures and developing strategies for export license requests and applications.

Who you are

We are looking for an experienced professional in export control and sanctions, with a thorough understanding of UK (OGELs/SIELs/F680), EU (dual use), and US (ITAR/EAR) Part 810/110 Export Laws and Regulations.

You should be able to work in a dynamic and fast paced business environment and have a proven ability to explain complex trade compliance issues clearly to all levels of an organisation.

You should understand commercial trade terms and conditions that will enable you to provide commercially pragmatic guidance to EDF.

Your background should include proven experience in UK conduct regulations and regulatory change management requirements, including a solid grasp of reporting procedures and record-keeping.

What you’ll be doing

In your role you will support the IT Cyber Requirements Manager in implementing and ensuring Information Security standards, while actively contributing to the improvement of the organisation's security culture.

You will advise on compliance with relevant regulatory and company policy requirements, escalating non-conformances as needed.

It is important to build and maintain strong relationships with Cyber Security Leads, Site IT Services Team Leaders, Site Heads of Security, and other key personnel, and you will promote Information Security policies, procedures, and practices to staff, contractors, and third parties across nuclear businesses.

You will conduct and supervise formal Information Security risk assessments to identify risks to the Nuclear licensee business and ensure appropriate mitigations are selected.

Finally, you will provide additional support for Information Security activities across nuclear licensee businesses, as directed by the IT Cyber Requirements Manager and Nuclear Information Security Officer (NISO).


Who you are

You should have an HND or Degree in a relevant subject and a working knowledge of cyber security standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) is required, with some experience applying these in an operational role.

Experience working on complex projects is essential and you must have the ability to work on your own initiative, while also building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders as part of a wider information and cyber security team.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are needed, along with the ability to think critically and logically in a highly regulated environment.

An understanding of IT functionality within the context of Nuclear Site Licence Conditions, Safety Cases, and handling sensitive nuclear information would be beneficial.

Relevant cybersecurity qualifications such as Security+, CISSP, GICSP, CISM, Blue Team, Risk Fundamentals, or equivalents are desirable.

What you will be doing …


- You will deal with a wide variety of stakeholders in relation to Governance, Functional & Business Improvement and will develop knowledge and skills across the Supply Chain function.
- Manage the team responsible for supply chain systems, supply chain data (including governance, structures, taxonomies, reporting, Key Performance Indicators and Dashboards).

Who you are...


- Qualification in data management, data analytics, computer science or similar.

- Strong data governance principles and experience in managing complex datasets in large complex organisation.

Fleet Safety Case Assurance provides expert assurance to the Head of Design Authority that the Licence Conditions they are responsible for are being discharged in a fit for purpose manner. This is done through three primary focus areas:

What you'll be doing

As the Safety Case Assurance Lead, you will:


- Implement significant changes to the MDI Process by delivery of the Safety Case Development Improvement Programme,
- Work closely with the Fleet Safety Case Assurance Group Head and the MDI Fleet Manager to look for opportunities to both further improve the MDI Process and to improve how the safety case practitioners across the business implement the Process,
- Identify and drive safety case management (SCM) related training improvements through leadership of the SCM Curriculum Review Committee (CRC).
- Identify and perform safety case assurance activities to support fit for purpose safety case delivery across the nuclear fleet.


Who you are

This position requires an individual with significant experience in nuclear safety case management and production; and who has the skills to coach, influence and consult on a wide range of safety case practices: technically, process-wise and behaviourally; at all levels of the organisation; and will often require leadership on process and behavioural alignment with the Office of Nuclear Regulator (ONR).

We are looking for you to demonstrate the following skills and experience:


- Post holder will be qualified to Degree level in a technical or engineering field (or acceptable International equivalent) and have attained, or be working towards, Chartered Engineer or equivalent status in an appropriate professional body.
- Intermediate project and programme management skills.
- MDI Process implementation knowledge.
- Good knowledge of the EC process and other MDI sub-processes (e.g. PSR, NSC, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Current experience with the Management of Safety Cases, e.g. Case Officer or holder of other senior SCM roles is highly desirable.
- Experience of participating in peer groups at stations or within central functions.
- Knowledge of the Systematic Approach to Training process as applied within the corporate functions
- Comfortable to support the MDI Fleet Manager in challenge up to the highest levels of the organisation to hold the company accountable for MDI related issues.

What you’ll be doing?

As a Criticality Safety Engineer, you will primarily focus on supporting the Criticality Safety Case in the Nuclear Fuel Routes of all EDF reactors. Specifically, following relevant training, you will work as part of a team to:


- Perform Monte Carlo based calculations of the neutron transport equation using geometric models of the nuclear fuel under varying conditions and fault scenarios;
- Assess proposed fuel route operations to identify potential hazards and faults which may pose a criticality risk;
- Analyse faults to determine risk and identify appropriate safety measures to reduce the risk in line with the ALARP principle;
- Implement criticality safety cases to the required quality and process to become part of the station safety case;
- Review other proposed safety cases to examine the impact on criticality safety and provide advice as necessary;
- Provide advice to station in response to events on-site and evolving situations;
- Liaise with station staff and other technical areas to discuss training, operational experience, work requirements;
- Support the maintenance of the required codes (verification & validation, version control etc.) and manage tasks in a UNIX environment;
- Be able to clearly specify work for others, collaborate with supply chain partners and act as an Intelligent Customer for externally-produced work.
- Support the Group Leader in the management of strategy, risk, work planning, resource and budgets where appropriate.

Who you are…

We are looking for someone with a degree (or equivalent qualification or experience) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Nuclear Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or in another appropriate scientific or numerate discipline. What you’ll be doing
Supply Chain Governance Specialist roles and responsibilities include:

- Support the development and implementation of the Generation Supply Chain Governance Strategy.
- Support the development, implementation and promotion of functional improvement activities.
- Collation, publication and distribution of functional key performance information.
- Support the business in applying the supplier pre-qualification standards, vendor database management standards and administering the vendor database.
- Maintain appropriate level of external supplier contact to undertake responsibilities effectively and liaison with Supply Chain Management to ensure business and operational support.
- Communicate with key stakeholders across the Generation business.
- Participate in fleet wide peer groups.
- Support delivery of Supply Chain related training and development.
- Provide guidance on the effective use of Supply Chain processes across the Generation business.
- Ensure governance is applied throughout all aspects of the Supply Chain processes to deliver safety, quality and commercial objectives.
- Interaction with, and contribution to EDF Energy wide Supply Chain related matters.

Who you are

- As a minimum, you will have a HNC or equivalent in a relevant subject and preferably hold or be working towards MCIPS.
- We’re looking for you to demonstrate previous experience of working within a supply chain environment within a relevant industry. Along with this, knowledge of relevant legislation governing supply chain activities is also required
- Holding awareness of best practice, and evidence of influencing change and being a real team player is imperative for this role.

What you’ll be doing

What you do and how you do it is really improtant. We are looking for Solution Architects that can bring leadership to our Technology delivery. You will be able to inspire and motivate our business to embrace change, show the “art of the possible” and make an impact in the digital services we develop. You will be experienced in the delivery of change in a large, complex business and have worked within an Enterprise, Solution or Technical Architecture team. You will have a good understanding of the modern IT and technology enablers and have experience in delivering them effectively. You will have a good understanding of how technology is evolving in the IT industry and experience in bringing that knowledge to solve real world problems.

As our next Solutions Architect, you’ll:


- Contribute to the development of an IS strategy for our Nuclear Operations Business

- Support innovation by proposing new solutions and engaging, as required, in approved Proof of Concept activities.
- Work with vendors and third-party analysts to develop a better understanding of relevant technologies, strategies for their use and their commercial benefits.


- Define and maintain Nuclear Operations information system architecture

- Assist with the definition of IS and IT road maps for architecture evolution.
- Work closely with the Solution and Enterprise Architecture Team to create and maintain design standards and ensure that all design solutions comply with those standards.


- Ability to work with business stakeholders to convert business requirements to technical Solutions through effective Solution Design.

- Manage the solution architecture and design for large and complex projects.
- Manages the architecture, preparation and delivery for large projects and engagements


- Act as the Intelligent Customer for solution architecture and design

- Support the Enterprise and Solution Architecture Manager in the role of the Intelligent Customer for solution architecture and design by ensuring that Site Licence compliance and the required quality standard is maintained for all solutions delivered to Nuclear Operations (including those delivered by third parties and within other Business Units or Steering Functions) and ensuring that nuclear safety is the overriding priority.

Who you are

For this position, you will be educated to degree level or equivalent or able to demonstrate significant experience in a large complex organisation with architectural design experience preferably with appropriate training and/or qualification in solution design.

Our ideal candidate will have a broad, strategic outlook and demonstrates very good communication skills with relevant experience of dealing with Business Stakeholders, IT experts, developers and third parties. You’ll be capable of leading discussion on design issues, and delivering sound decisions, based upon consensus and the application of standards and best practise. You’ll possess good attention to detail, strategic thinking, and experience of exercising leadership within a complex organisation and establishing technical credibility from the outset.

Creativity in the development of new approaches and sensitivity to business constraints, ambitions and operational objectives in area of assignment is key and is team working and co-operation and the capability of delivering relevant project documentation, in line with standards.

Ideally, you will have gained a good level of experience in a relevant technical role, with experience of designing, evaluating and selecting solutions and working with third parties such as solutions vendors and research partners. You’ll have a methodological approach, with a focus on standards and developing architecture as a key professional skill-set and excellent IT industry knowledge. An appreciation of key utilities industry concepts and an understanding of IT development processes and systems engineering constraints is ideal.

Ideally you will have a wider understanding and experience of managing projects and be capable of advising on solutions implementation issues e.g. migration and business readiness and have financial awareness.

As our IT Enterprise landscape embraces cloud-based platforms and services you will have a good technical knowledge of the leading platforms used in Enterprise IT Landscapes and would ideally include knowledge of Microsoft Azure. We are evolving our IT services to embrace cloud-based architectures so any experience, knowledge or expertise in cloud solution design would be extremely beneficial.

The Opportunity…

At EDF we are building two new nuclear reactors at Hinkley Point C, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes. We have a fleet of operational Advanced Gas-cooled Reactors, and a Pressuriser Water Reactor at Sizewell B, and we are making preparations for the construction of two further reactors at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

We are looking for a Hazards Safety Case Engineer, who will be responsible for ensuring that internal hazards are fully considered in the design of our nuclear plant.

As a Hazards Engineer, you will be looking ahead for the lifetime of our plants and evaluating the hazards that may affect them. This includes internal hazards such as fire, flooding, dropped loads etc that could be cause by faults inside our buildings. You will consider the impact that hazards could have on the safe operation of our plant and work to ensure that we have a secure safety case.

This is an excellent opportunity for engineers who have a background in Nuclear Safety Cases or Hazards Analysis, and who are keen to apply their experience to a nuclear energy context.

- Working with the EDF Nuclear Licensees to evaluate and determine the hazard frequencies magnitudes and effects, conducting and commissioning research where this is needed.
- Working with internal and external safety regulators to agree the strategy and requirements for safe operation.

- Developing and authoring relevant sections of the nuclear safety case.
- Monitoring design changes arising from suppliers and construction activities.

Your background may include some of the following:


- Degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or scientific field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in design principles in a modern high hazard industry.


- An appetite for developing practical solutions to problems and following through to completion.
- Ability to work independently, to plan and manage design reviews, and able to work with different stakeholders for the development of the safety case.


- Experience in structuring and authoring UK nuclear safety cases, including application of ALARP principles.
- Experience of systematic hazard analysis on plant important to safety.
- Knowledge of Pressurised Water Reactor and EPR design.
