Field Sales Executive (Doorstep Canvasser)

Location: Community based out of Tewkesbury Head Office, initially supporting Cheltenham and Hereford Depots

Hours: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday, 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM (includes travel time)

Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 per annum + unlimited commission potential (target of 50 new customers per week; £10 additional commission per customer beyond target)

Laboratory Technician

The Technical Department at Cotteswold Dairy are looking for a reliable, methodical individual with excellent communication skills to train as a member of the Laboratory Team. Experience of working in a lab setting or food production would be ideal, and candidates who have proven ability to work accurately and with precision in a fast-paced environment will be considered

Laboratory Technician Role

As quality & the safety of our product is paramount, our laboratory operates seven days per week: from the first delivery of raw milk fresh from the farm - until the last bottle is filled. Therefore the successful applicant will need to be fully flexible to cover a variety of shifts. You will also need to consider your commute - as public transport to site will not arrive in time for the earlier shifts

This is a fast paced and dynamic role. You will work with the Lab Team, the Technical Department and the Lab Manager to ensure compliance to company & legislative standards and requirements. You will conduct sampling and testing of products, microbiological tests and analyse results to maintain product quality control throughout the intake, storage, production and bottling of milk and cream products.

Laboratory Technician Working Hours †

All staff in the Laboratory are expected to cover weekday and regular weekend shifts, with a range of start times on a rota basis. Shifts vary in length but are generally 8 to 10 hours in length, for a total of 37.5 hours per week.

Saturday: 0300, 0530, 0800

Sunday: 0600

Laboratory Technician Training

You will receive practical, hands-on training in the role as well as working towards your Basic Food Safety & COSHH. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager & Technical Team, key duties include:


To conduct a variety of sampling and testing in line with the company’s standards

Trainee HGV Driver

Cotteswold Dairy are once again working in partnership with PDT to offer an HGV training scheme that will assist candidates in preparing for and obtaining, an HGV Driving Licence.

After sucessfully supporting over 25 new drivers into the business across 2023, we are looking for new candidates to take part in our 2024 driver training scheme, based in Cheltenham.

No previous haulage experience is required – anyone can become an HGV driver. If you are over 18 years old and hold a valid UK driver’s licence, you are eligible.


HGV Driver Training

Cotteswold Dairy offer a full training scheme with on-the-job training, an expereinced buddy, dedicated in-house academic and practical support staff; and over eighty-five years of quality experience in distribution. We will arrange your pre-course medical and walk you through the required steps before you begin. Throughout the course you will be supported by the PDT training team, our Learning & Development Coordinator and our Haulage Department to ensure you develop the required skills to pass your theory, hazard perception and CPC exams; while gaining confidence and real-world experience driving HGV vehicles. You will complete your practical training with both PDT and Cotteswold Dairy through our buddy system before you take your practical exam.

Training will encompass:


Advice & Guidance – Get to know logistics training session
Medical Exam
Access to a revision portal for theory exam
Theory, Hazard perception and Module 2 test
Practical training through both PDT and Cotteswold Dairy
Module 3 practical driving test
Practical driving module 4 test
Post completion interview


Around the driving training you be required to do:


Production training/picking in the Chilled warehouse
Vehicle loading
Learning rounds through the ‘buddy’ system (as a passenger)


Training will take around 16 weeks to complete, but everyone is different & we offer a fully flexible approach to training. This will encompass a mixture of study, practical instruction and familiarisation with the products and processes.

IMPORTANT - This physically active role involves working nights, and requires manual handling

By the end of the training the Trainee will expected to fulfil the following:


Operation of applicable vehicles
The safe loading and unloading of stock at customer sites – pallets and roll cages
Picking of orders and learning the products
Complete a conscientious check of their assigned vehicle every morning and evening correcting any minor defects and highlighting serious defects to their Supervisor/Manager



HGV Driver Duties

Key duties of this role include:


Delivery of dairy and other products to Wholesale & Semi-Retail customers
Unloading and loading at customer sites – to include pallets and roll cages
Picking of orders and learning the products
Complete a conscientious check of the assigned vehicle at the start and end of shift



HGV Driver Working Hours

Training will encompass both daytime training, study, and night time operation. Throughout, we endeavour to make this as seamless as possible to give you a firm foundation for a successful career. You will complete the first week of your training at our Tewkesbury Head Office. The first 2-3 weeks of your training will be daytime hours. The driving role is Night Hours, with a start time between 2200 - 0200.

Full Time, 48 hours per week. Five shifts Monday - Sunday on a rota basis. In order to comply with the Working Time Directive, this will be averaged out over a period of 26 weeks.

Due to an increase in demand, Cotteswold Dairy are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join us as a Machine Operator in our central production site based in Tewkesbury. We process locally sourced milk, packaged at the main plant and delivered to depots in Cheltenham, Hereford, North Wales, Shrewsbury and London: who then service our customers across the UK.

Experience of working in food production as a machine operative would be ideal, however candidates who are proactive with the ability to work accurately and with precision in a fast-paced environment will also be considered in a trainee role which will prepare you for full time work as a Machine Operative (salaries are banded based on experience).


Machine Operator Training

As a Training Centre with a dedicated Learning & Development Co-ordinator we offer development opportunities within the role to broaden your skillset and the ability to gain recognised qualifications. Working Hours †

PRODUCTION OPERATIVE

Due to expansion, Cotteswold Dairy are looking for enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join the Production Team. We process locally sourced milk, which is packaged at the Tewkesbury plant and delivered to our local depots who service our doorstep and retail customers nationally

Experience of working in food production would be ideal, however candidates who are proactive with the ability to work accurately and with precision in a fast-paced environment will also be considered

This is an excellent entry-level role to kick start a career in the Production Department, with plenty of progression opportunities.


Production Operative Training

As a Training Centre with a dedicated Learning & Development Coordinator, and clear progression pathways, we offer development opportunities within the role to broaden your skillset and the ability to gain recognised qualifications. We strongly encourage progression within the business, and there are many additional skills you can gain in Production to further your development

IMPORTANT - This physically active role requires manual handling


The Production Operative Role

This role is hands-on in rotating roles across the factory. Key duties will include:


Operating a variety of machinery to package products, and subsequently moving these units into cold storage ready for distribution
Working across the production lines within the factory in line with your current level of training, operating machinery for the processing and filling of milk products
Adherence to all site policies regarding food hygiene and health and safety, while maintaining a clean and hygienic work station*


* Due to food hygiene regulations only one solid wedding band is permitted. No earrings, studs, bracelets, necklaces, makeup, strong smelling deodorants or perfumes are permitted in the production area


Production Operative : Working Hours †

Early shift: 0600 - finish; Late shift: 1400 – finish (Monday - Saturday); 5 shifts over 7 days

Early shift only on a Saturday

As a guide, production finishes 1400-1500 and by 2200 most days - though this cannot be guarenteed due to production variables

† This is an example only – a degree of flexibility is required; days off are on a rota basis

** In order to meet the shift times you will need to have your own transportation or live within walking/cycling distance of the depot. Please note that Public Transport from Cheltenham, Gloucester or Worcester does not arrive at the depot early enough **

You will be forward thinking, have a positive attitude, and have a keen eye for detail; coupled with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be reliably able to commute to work at the shift times indicated, and be flexible to work the full shift pattern

Forklift Driver Counterbalance

Working at the main Tewkesbury Depot in our Chilled Warehouse, our Counterbalance Forklift Drivers operate across the site from the factory floor to the glass fridge, chilled warehouse and externally on the loading bays. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager and our Chilled Warehouse Supervisors, you will liaise with various departments across the business and our clients, to ensure distribution runs smoothly & any issues are dealt with quickly, efficiently and professionally

You will work accurately under pressure, operate your forklift safely and securely in line with our Three Moral Promises and posess a desire to learn & develop. The role is physical and hands-on


Forklift Driver Training

Our departments are supported by our dedicated Learning & Development Team, who can organise practical refresher courses for Forklift Licences, PPT Training as well as support with Academic Qualifications such as NVQs and Leadership courses. We are proud to have internal trainers to support both PPT and FLT courses, allowing our team to train and refresh their qualifications on-site. We also run the Cotteswold Academy on a yearly basis which is open to all Employees, giving an overview of the entire business


Forklift Driver Key Duties

Other key duties include:


Checking goods in and ensuring all goods are transported and/or unloaded in a safe and timely manner
Keeping the Chilled Warehouse clean at all times providing a safe working environment *
Flexibility to perform any other reasonable task as requested by more senior staff

Technical Manager

40 hours per week, usually Monday - Friday

Reporting to the Factory Manager, you will be based at the main production plant and head office in Tewkesbury. Technical Manager Responsibilities

Responsible for legal compliance - and acting as the technical lead for food safety - our Technical Manager oversees a team of quality technicians, laboratory staff and our farm liaison officer

A key responsibility for the successful applicant will be overseeing the training and development of Cotteswold Dairy Staff in food safety, while maintaining and developing our excellent HACCP Food Safety Plan. You will host the site accreditation with particular focus on the annual BRC Certification and Customer Audits


Technical Manager Development

All departments throughout the business encourage the educational development of our employees, and we are supported by dedicated Learning & Development staff to assist you in delivering academic and practical training to our teams. In addition we run management development courses throughout the year, and our Cotteswold Academy is open to all employees to better understand key areas of the business. Department heads are expected to actively engage in this process, providing support and mentorship to their team and individuals across the business


Technical Manager Key Duties

Key duties include:


Develop and control quality programs; audit, direct and manage quality assurance operations to ensure legal compliance and to provide due diligence. Understand, establish and audit quality safety systems associated with the production of a safe product
Maintain and develop the HACCP food safety plan, including the process control systems and documentation in line with company, customer and audit requirements
Working as a senior member of the Management Team to implement improvements in the business’ practices and operations. Resolve customer complaints by liaising with relevant departments, ensuring that target levels are achieved and improved upon
Technical support during the NPD process including the approval of new suppliers, product, process in order to meet business strategy of developing added value products

It is desirable that candidates hold a Degree or HND in a Food Related Subject, and experience of working within FMCG with the BRC. You will have previous people management experience; strong Excel skills and hold both Food Safety & HACCP Level 3 as a minimum

YARD SHUNTER (Class 1 HGV)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Yard Shunter with a Class 1, Category C+E licence to join our haulage team at our Tewkesbury Depot. You will be undertaking shunting work during the day around the yard ensuring that the trailers are in the right place at the right time and that goods within the vehicles are properly secured and prepared for safe transportation


The Yard Shunter Role

You must demonstrate a positive, flexible attitude to work, be reliable, confident, and able to communicate effectively while being a team player. You will possess excellent problem-solving skills, deliver excellent customer service and be committed to conducting your work to the highest standards, recognising this role is pivotal to ensuring a first class service to our customers


Key duties of the Yard Shunter role will include:


Ensuring the safe operation of yard-shunter vehicles
Monitoring and reporting of damage to Company vehicles
Checking fridges are running and electric cables are in good condition
Ensuring vehicle wash and re-fuelling areas are kept clean, reporting any infringements



Yard Shunter Working Hours †

Full time, 48 hours per week (rostered average). Day-time hours including early starts as required.

In order to comply with the Working Time Directive, this will be averaged out over a period of 26 weeks
