Essential Functions

• Facilitates efficient and effective patient flow including preparing the patient for the visit/admission, and providing specific services and education as determined by the providers in accordance with licensure and policy.

The Neurosciences Service Line at Spectrum Health is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our growing Neurosurgery APP team.  As West Michigan’s leading neuroscience referral center, and one of the largest providers of adult neuroscience services in the state, the Neurosurgery department functions within our multidisciplinary team to provide quality care, research, and education within the clinical neurosciences. 

This position, in partnership with our Neurosurgery NP's and Neurosurgery Residents, will work mainly in the inpatient setting with plans to expand to the outpatient setting as the team grows.  New APP's can expect a 4-6 month training process led by our experienced senior APP's.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently after appropriate training & demonstrate excellent clinical acumen.  This position plays an integral role in the Neurosurgery team and works collaboratively & cohesively with our Neurosurgery physicians.  We are excited to expand this team to 12 dedicated Neurosurgery APP's to provide optimal shift coverage. 

Responsibilities/Expectations

• 6 AM - 6 PM / 6 PM - 6 AM shifts - 12 Hour shift length.
• 14 shifts over a 28-day period, with the expectation that 3-4 will be night shifts every 6 weeks, to change with expansion of team
• Weekend coverage - current expectation is 1 in 6 weekends to change as team expands
• Holiday coverage – current expectation is 1 system holiday per year.
• Projected schedule is known 6 months in advance
• Management of primary Neurosurgery ICU & floor patients
• Performing bed-side procedure
• Completing neurosurgery consults
• OR case coverage providing first assist
• Neurotrauma Pager coverage
• Education for our MSU/Spectrum Health Neurosurgery Residents
• Collaboration with other providers & members of our health care team to deliver quality & safe patient care.

Works under the supervision within Laboratory. From the moment an emergency medical situation occurs, we are ready to help with the highest level of children’s medical care possible. Helen Devos Children’s Hospital is a Level I trauma center. While we treat minor illnesses and injuries, we are also prepared with a pediatric trauma care team that provides care for severe injuries. 4 Center OB Special Care is a specialty within the world of Obstetrics care. 4 Center providers expert individualized care for patients with high-risk pregnancies and pregnancy- related conditions, as well as postpartum care.   Our most common diagnosis includes premature rupture of membranes, preterm labor or contractions, preeclampsia/hypertension, cervical shortening, vaginal bleeding, hyperemesis, and diabetes care.  Our staff are trained in electronic fetal monitoring, monitoring, and assessing mother and fetal well-being and administering of high-risk medications.

From the moment an emergency medical situation occurs, we are ready to help with the highest level of children’s medical care possible. Helen Devos Children’s Hospital is a Level I trauma center. While we treat minor illnesses and injuries, we are also prepared with a pediatric trauma care team that provides care for severe injuries. We’re proud to have the only pediatric emergency department in West Michigan, which is designed specifically for children and staffed by experts in pediatric emergency medicine. Recognized as experts in pediatric trauma and burn care with specially trained physicians and nurses available 24 hours a day to care for unexpected or severe injuries.

Corewell Health West's Women's Health Department is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants or Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM) to join our growing team at Corewell Health Butterworth’s OB Triage unit/Core Faculty Team. We have added hours and are now recruiting for a .9 FTE, which is considered full time for benefits. Our 11-bed triage unit provides excellent basic and emergent obstetric care to patients >20 weeks within one of the busiest obstetric units in the country.  Our APP run unit allows independent assessment and treatment with a safety net of inpatient physicians nearby. 

• Shift work, no call

Qualified Candidate Must Have:

• Passion for obstetric care and women’s health

Responsible for managing patients and coordinating the services provided by multiple disciplines within and outside the health system. Maintains a collaborative practice agreement with specific physician(s). Exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of selected protocols/procedures. Provides educational support for patients/significant others, health team members and the community and coordinates QA/QI studies to measure outcomes of care.
