We are recruiting Clinical Fellows (ST5+ or equivalent) in Anaesthesia to apply for our CESR fellowship training programme.

• x 1 to commence 5 February 2025
• x 2 to commence 6 August 2025


This is a new initiative within Barts Health Trust and is designed as a 'run through' 3-year training scheme, set across 4 of our hospital sites; St Bartholomew's Hospital, Newham University Hospital, Whipps Cross Hospital and The Royal London Hospital. This is offered as a 24-month contract to rotate through the hospitals, with an additional 12 months to support Specialist Interest Areas (S.I.A’s) as required. We will follow the current training programme requirements, as set out in the 2021 CCT in Anaesthetics Curriculum guidance for stages 2 and 3 to include both the clinical domains and the General Medical Council’s (GMC) generic professional capabilities. The programme has been set up to give fellows the opportunity to develop all the necessary competencies and collect all the required portfolio evidence to support an application for GMC Specialist Registration via the CESR route. The final decision to grant the CESR equivalence rests with the GMC and the Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCOA).

On successful completion of our 3-year programme, the fellows will have an opportunity to apply for one of our Trust-wide Fellow posts, whilst awaiting the CESR application process by the GMC.

These fellows will be appointed to the anaesthetic department and will be accountable to the Clinical Director within each site. Clinical Supervisors will be allocated on commencement of the job and Educational Supervisors will be allocated for each hospital within the rotation.

Applicants should be fully registered with the GMC; allowing them to work in the UK, and have an FRCA or equivalent qualification, along with at least 2 years anaesthetic experience in the National Health Service (NHS), at the time of interview.

The Estates Hard FM Team is responsible for the day to day repairs, PPM
and operational testing for a wide range of building services and equipment
located in the Trust.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and flexible Maintenance
Mechanical Craftsperson (Plumber) to join our multi-Skilled Estates team at Mile End Hospital site providing operational maintenance services throughout the Trust and its associated properties and sites.

You will be a keen team member with a recognised building services
mechanical/ plumbing apprenticeship or equivalent and have post qualification experience with in a complex building services environment. Duties will include statutory maintenance works as instructed to ensure compliance with current HTM’s, Water Regulations, ACOP’s and Trust policies.

To undertake duties of a Competent Person (CP) in accordance with the
relevant NHS HTM Guidance. Also to maintain and repair cold & hot water systems & plant including calorifiers, water tanks, plate heat exchangers , air handling plant etc..

Applicants should have a good all round ability and be capable of working on their own initiative to undertake planned preventative and reactive
maintenance and specialist engineering duties.

This position will require you to participate in the Estates emergency on-call rota which includes out of hours working at all Barts Health Trust sites.

The post holder will perform the role of mechanical craftsperson within the in-house mechanical maintenance team including undertaking a wide range of fault-finding and maintenance duties. He/she will be maintaining Mechanical building services, and equipment within the Trust properties. To liaise and or coordinate directly with mechanical contractors in the day to day running of the Estates service delivery within the Mile End Hospital and or Royal London Hospital Retained Estates within Barts Health Estates & Facilities Services.

Under direction of the Senior Mechanical Craftsperson and or Estates Supervisor ensure all
buildings, plant and equipment are mechanically serviced and maintained throughout Mile
End Hospital and or Royal London Hospital Retained Estate in accordance with Statutory &
Mandatory requirements in a timely manner. Including Planned Preventative Maintenance
(PPM) and Reactive Maintenance (RM), minor works, major overhauls, and replacement. In
addition, the Mechanical Craftsperson will be required to be a self-starter who is able to work
on his/her own initiative.

To work as Band 6 Physiotherapist on the Royal London site working primarily across Major Trauma, Orthopaedics and Plastics.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Mortuary team. This post will be based at Whitechapel but on occasion the successful candidate may be required to visit any of the other sites. The post holder will be required to assist in all aspects of Mortuary Services including post mortem provision for adults, perinatal/paediatric cases and care of the deceased.

The mortuary services at ESEL comprise of one mortuary facility based at The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel , Barts Health have 4 other deceased holding units at St Bartholomew’s, Newham, Whipps Cross and Mile End.

The Cellular Pathology and Cancer Diagnostics Division provides diagnostic and screening services for the whole of North East London. Our facilities are close to underground and DLR services. The Mortuary service performs approximately 200 post mortems Per annum and is regional referral centre for perinatal cases. The Mortuary is HTA accredited. Our commitment to supporting continuing professional development is evidenced by an excellent training record.



The NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership is an arms-length organisation providing pathology services to Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. The Pathology Partnership is hosted by Barts Health.

The Pathology Partnership is based on well-established models for pathology networks, with the Royal London Hospital becoming the main hub laboratory for the network and Essential Service Laboratories (ESL) as a minimum at all other Hospital sites.

We are looking to recruit Senior Clinical Fellow Posts in:

Advance Training Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a specialist interest in high-risk obstetrics and obstetric governance

The post-holder must be a senior clinical fellow with interests, clinical skills and knowledge in high-risk obstetrics. The primary clinical work area will be ambulatory obstetrics – high-risk maternity triage and the antenatal ward setting. There will be an opportunity for the post holder to maintain and develop their acute gynaecology skills to facilitate the completion of training / serve as evidence for portfolio development.

The post holder will have dedicated time to develop their obstetric scanning skills in the Fetal medicine unit and use these skills to manage obstetric patients in the ambulatory obstetric setting/ maternity triage.

The post holder should be within 12 months of CCT or CESR. There will be the opportunity for the successful applicant to undertake ATSMs /SITMS if they still need to start this and support the CESR application.

It is anticipated that this will be a fixed term appointment for 12mths.


On call duties

The post-holder will participate in the on-call rota as a senior registrar (ST5-7 level) for both obstetrics and gynaecology – there will be additional support if required for complex surgical cases.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Bart’s Cardiovascular Disease Prevention team. The post holder will support the CVD risk and lipids service to deliver nurse led clinics for assessment of patients with dyslipidaemias, genetic testing for FH and cascade screening, and where necessary administration of injectable lipid lowering therapies. They will work with multiple health professionals across all interfaces, both within the Trust and the ICB, to improve awareness, detection, and diagnosis of Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH) and to ensure appropriate systems that underpin good practice are in place.

In addition, the postholder will have opportunities to support the wider CVD prevention work of the team, which includes promoting healthy living, education programs for children and adults, staff CVD prevention and other work outlined within the ELoPE (East London CVD Prevention) program

· To work closely with Cardiology and Metabolic Teams to deliver a tertiary centre CVD risk and Lipids Service

· To work with health professionals across all interfaces to improve awareness, detection and diagnosis of Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH) and to ensure appropriate systems that underpin good practice are inplace.

· To achieve and maintain standards of care set by clinical guidelines (NICE) and protocols developed nationally andlocally.

· To continue to improve standards of patient care through evidence based research/practice and participation inaudit.

· To support and participate in lipid and CVD risk clinics as part of the wider CVD prevention programme

· To undertake nurse led genetic testing and cascade screeningfor FH

· To safeguard and act in the best interest of patients by maintaining the inherent dignity and value of each individual, enabling them to make informed choices in order to reach their ownpotential.
