Are you an experienced, inclusive, sensitive, and forward-thinking senior midwife seeking a challenging role? This is a unique opportunity and we are looking for a very special leader to join us as Associate Director of Midwifery at The Royal London Hospital at a critical time as we embark on a programme of cultural change.
We are proud to offer the opportunity to work in a progressive environment where we are committed to an ambitious transformation of our maternity services. We are working with the NHS England, Maternity Safety Support Programme to ensure that improvements to our services are meeting the needs of our women and birthing people, as well as our diverse workforce. The Royal London Hospital provides specialist fetal medicine, maternal medicine and abnormally adherent placenta services as the lead network provider. In order to make sustainable improvements to the services users we are looking for a credible midwifery leader, with a proven track record of compassionate leadership in a diverse environment, who can lead our services for the women and birthing people in Tower Hamlets who rely on us for their maternity care, as well as service users from across London and beyond.
We need an exceptional and visible leader with in-depth knowledge of governance and assurance mechanisms (including CQC, MIS and SBLCBv3), operational management experience of maternity services both in the community, continuity, and the hospital.
The Associate Director of Midwifery will work as a member of the Women's Divisional Leadership team chaired by the Divisional Director. The role forms part of the "Quad" leadership team with the Divisional Director of Operations, the Clinical Director for Obstetrics, and the Consultant Service Lead for Neonatology.
If successful in securing the role, you will support the Divisional Director of Operations (DDO) to manage the operational performance of the Division and will provide leadership cover for annual leave and other absences.
You will act as the delegated lead for safety, quality and patient experience, with responsibility for the development and application of systems, control processes and risk management arrangements that ensure full compliance with internal and external governance procedures, benchmarked against best practice requirements.
A critical part of the role is to work with divisional colleagues to develop a strategic direction which has patient experience at the centre of everything we do, embraces the skills of our workforce, and encourages effectiveness, flexibility, and positive staff morale.
Key to our vision is the development of a culture within the Division which is open to and empowers innovation, creativity and learning at ward and department level.
