An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated pharmacy technician to join the cardiac team at Barts Heart Centre.

You will have the opportunity to develop your medicines management skills, working closely with medical and nursing staff on a wide range of medicines management matters tooptimisemedicines use across the site.

With the implementation of ward based dispensaries for all wards and a pre-admission drug history service, you will assist the team in further developing the continued expansion of the service and implementing initiatives in line with the Carter review.

This is a 6 month fixed term role based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, working 37.5hours per week including 1 in 5 weekends.

There is a need for close coordination with the wider specialist MDT to pre plan medicines required for our patients at ward level through the implementation of an efficient medicines management system. This will include the assessment of patient’s own drugs, conducting medicines reconciliation, counselling patients about their medicines and coordinating the supply of discharge medication.

The role will also involve the training and supervision of junior team members and dispensary based responsibilities.

We are looking to recruit Senior Clinical Fellow Posts in:

Advance Training Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a specialist interest in high-risk obstetrics and obstetric governance

The post-holder must be a senior clinical fellow with interests, clinical skills and knowledge in high-risk obstetrics. The primary clinical work area will be ambulatory obstetrics – high-risk maternity triage and the antenatal ward setting. There will be an opportunity for the post holder to maintain and develop their acute gynaecology skills to facilitate the completion of training / serve as evidence for portfolio development.

The post holder will have dedicated time to develop their obstetric scanning skills in the Fetal medicine unit and use these skills to manage obstetric patients in the ambulatory obstetric setting/ maternity triage.

The post holder should be within 12 months of CCT or CESR. There will be the opportunity for the successful applicant to undertake ATSMs /SITMS if they still need to start this and support the CESR application.

On call duties

The post-holder will participate in the on-call rota as a senior registrar (ST5-7 level) for both obstetrics and gynaecology – there will be additional support if required for complex surgical cases.

Senior Pharmacy Assistant, Chemotherapy Services Unit - Band 3

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious candidate who is looking to build a career in aseptic manufacturing, to join our busy chemotherapy manufacturing team at Barts Health NHS Trust. The post holder must be keen to learn and develop with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will undertake a wide variety of roles within the unit including, but not limited to aseptic preparation, stock management, training and in-process checking. The post holder will be based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital supporting our well established, dedicated chemotherapy manufacturing unit.

At Barts Health we take pride in developing our staff to progress. Within the Pharmacy department we offer several opportunities to do this. You will participate in training initiatives to meet both individual and departmental goals. Once fully trained and we will look to enrol you on the Science Manufacturing Technician Level 3 course. Applicants should hold an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent). Previous experience of working in aseptic production is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. We are looking for a person with experience to act as the Radiation Safety Site lead at Newham University Hospital, and to also take in the lead in the patient dosimetry programme. You need experience as an MPE in Diagnostic Radiology and in radiation protection in healthcare to help lead the Radiation Safety services.

The aim of this post is to provide closer MPE / RPA working with the clinical departments and being more integrated into the clinical teams. You will also work with the site leadership teams on the site radiation protection programme.

You must be registered with the HCPC as a Clinical Scientist and have MPE certification. An RPA certificate of competence or the ability to submit an application within 6 months is also required.

The Radiation Safety Section is based at the Royal London Hospital. You will be expected to spend time at your lead site and to work on all Trust and client sites

To act as an appointed Radiation Protection Adviser and Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology for the Trust and for outside contracts, as required under The Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 and The Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposures) Regulations 2017 respectively. To assist with the management and provision of radiation safety advice and services for all uses of ionising radiation in the Trust and diagnostic radiology physics support to the Trust and to other organisations who have contracts with Clinical Physics and in particular to act as the Radiation Safety Site lead RPA/MPE for Newham University Hospital, one of the Barts Health hospitals, and work closely with the site leadership team and the Head of Radiation Safety on the radiation protection programme. To manage the patient dosimetry service provided by Radiation Safety across all sites.

Newham University Hospital has X-Ray equipment in the Radiology Department in the main hospital building, at the Gateway Surgical Centre and at Shrewsbury Road Health Clinic. The Radiology Department has 2 CT scanners, fluoroscopy, general X-ray rooms and mammography. Mammography is a networked service managed by the St Bartholomew’s Hospital site.

The Barts Health Orthopaedic Centre (BHOC) at Gateway Surgical Centre and Shrewsbury Road Health Clinic have general X-ray rooms. Mobile X-ray equipment is used in A&E, wards and in the Gateway Surgical Centre, including a mini c-arm.

The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of general medical staffing across the division. They will be responsible for entering locum shifts for medical staff and act as the first point of contact for issues relating to junior doctors including sickness reporting.

The post holder will be supported by Emergency and Acute Medicine Service Manager and General Manager. They will work closely with medical rota co-coordinators, clinical leads, divisional clinical directors and bank partners to ensure there is safe medical staffing provision for Division.

The aim of this post is to provide patients with outstanding services from the Pharmacy Technical Services MS licenced units ASU (Aseptic Services Unit), Chemoteraphy Services Unit (CSU), Packagin Services Unit (PSU) and Quality support to Radiopharmacy and Nuclear medicine unit (RPU). The post holder will provide professional and technical supervision to the GMP manufacturing units, working with other department in these units to ensure all activities comply with current clinical, GMP, GCP and Quality guidelines


The post holder will work within the Quality Assurance team, focusing (but not limited to) on elements of the QMS (including the documentation system), as well as Micro and QC support such as environmental monitoring, laboratory practices and testing, and releasing of products manufactured under the MS licence, whenever required.

The post holder will be given training to become competent and will undertake developmental activities to enable them to gain skills, knowledge, and experience in a wide variety of Quality, Aseptic and Clinical Pharmacy activities.

There will be close working with our plastic surgery and orthopaedic colleagues within MDT clinics and on service development projects within the team. In particular the role involves making hand therapy provision to patients on the day of their surgery to support the Day Zero Hand Therapy Pathway

You will be joining a large and diverse MSK team that spans across the whole MSK pathway. You will be working within the Royal London Hospital Hand Therapy department. You will lead service development and review, ensuring the service is able to provide safe, high quality, evidence based, and holistic management of hand therapy patients.

You will be required to work shifts over Monday - Friday, 08:00-16:00 or 10:00-18:00 to support the provision of the Day Zero Hand Therapy Pathway

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop hand therapy clinical, leadership, research and educational skills. This is supported with a mix of development pathways such as internal and external training, development and networking opportunities, Quality Improvement training and the opportunity to participate in post-graduate HEI courses

To provide client centered occupational therapy or physiotherapy for clients referred to the Hand Therapy Service. This highly specialised service is provided to clients mainly in a hospital setting but may have a community focus. The service adopts a holistic approach offering assessment and treatment to reduce disability and the impact of the disability arising from physical illness and injury. The service also provides advice and education, precautionary measures and highly specialist treatments e.g. splinting. This is done in accordance with the priorities of the client and, where applicable, his/her carer.

The post holder also has the opportunity to provide a service to other clients referred direct from the community.
