• Provides official/personal mail service in accordance with DoD 4525.6-M, DoD Postal Manual and DoD 4525.8-M, DoD Official Mail Manual; DoDI 4525.8/AF Sup 1; Official Mail and Distribution Management; and Cost Control Program. Processes annually more than 4 million pieces of official and personnel mail at three official mail centers JBSA Ft Sam Houston, Lackland AFB and Randolph AFB Official Mail Centers (OMC), six postal service centers, Randolph Postal Service Center (PSC), Lackland Postal Service Centers (PSC #2, #3 and #7) and a Student Mail Center (SMC) and Benner Barracks at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston.
• Accountable Mail: To provide accountability and control of classified communications; to provide document security services; and to provide office automation and clerical support for the Operations Flight. Receives, records, sorts, transports, controls, and processes all incoming and outgoing special services mail, i.e. registered, express, certified, insured, and other various extra service articles personally through the window to the addressee/authorized agent and to various organizations and mailrooms designated mail orderlies and mail clerks.
• Provides expedient and complete mail like matter services sent via commercial carriers. Responsible for securely receiving, controlling and processing commercial carrier parcels (i.e. UPS and FedEx parcels).
• To provide first-line defense of Mail Security for JBSA customers and serviced activities. Responsible for knowing the characteristics of suspicious mail items and the proper procedures for handling and reporting suspicious mail items to the proper authorities.
• Maintains and Operates as a Unit Mail Clerk. Responsible for assigning and withdrawal of receptacles for TDY, student and permanent party postal lock boxes, changing combinations/keys, redirecting undeliverable mail. Receives, unloads, sorts, and processes incoming shipments of mail trays, parcels, sacks, and correspondence into postal receptacles. Work involves heavy lifting and moving of objects from high and low levels of shelving units.

• Assist in the planning, implementation, development, coordination, and administration of a broad range of community activities, special events, classes, conferences, meetings, and other facility use requirements which are diversified and serve a participant community of employees, and their dependents.
• Perform the duties of facility manager and directs facility maintenance and daily upkeep for The Sheppard Event Center.
• Assist in the marketing and publicizing community/family recreation programs.
• Assist the Director with the execution of and administration of operating budget.

Performs a full range of simple cooking tasks by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers and fresh or canned vegetables.

Prepares hot cereals, broiled meats; prepares and cooks concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces, and gravies; makes cold sandwich fillings.

Prepares convenience items such as frozen hash browns, fish fillets and chicken nuggets. Some cooks at this level prepare and bake pizza.

Prepares food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring and breading; weighs, measures and assembles ingredients for regular menu items; sets up and replenishes salad bar; portions foods for distribution and meal service, and covers, dates and stores leftovers according to established procedures. Washes and cleans kitchen equipment.

Mix ingredients according to written recipes that produce quality products, minimize preparation time, and avoid food material waste.

Performs and/or assists other recreation assistants in the operation and maintenance of indoor/outdoor recreational facilities. Issues horses/mules and assist in the saddling and unsaddling. Serves as the weekend trail guide. Feeds government and privately own horses. Serves as the Marketing and Publicity branch focal point for collection and dissemination of Force Support Squadron program information. Assists Marketing Operations Supervisor in the dissemination of surveys and tallying results Conducts visits or phone calls to FSS activities to obtain information, then edits the information and prepares it in the correct format for submission to the Daily Bulletin (if available), for the magazine and the public affairs insert. Composes briefs and articles for public affairs, using Associated Press guidelines. Attends FSS events to obtain information through interviews and to take pictures. Tracks printer supply usage and prepares reports essential to ordering to meet all ordering deadlines. Collects and compiles information from FSS activities for Master Events Calendar and Master of Hours of Operation and organizes for submission to JBSA Marketing Director. Works special events; publicity, setup and customer service. Arranges and tracks pickup of completed work orders, DVDs and other media created by Marketing. Manages promotional distribution ensuring all materials are distributed to the appropriate location in a timely and accurate manner. Performs both internal and external customer service. Assists with a variety of special events such as Monte Carlo Night, Oktoberfest and Air Show. Acts as government vehicle manager; responsible for maintaining driving logs, ensuring maintenance and upkeep. Performs all other duties as assigned.
