2. Performs hazard and risk assessment techniques in completing initial incident analysis. Surveys the incident to identify materials involved, determines whether hazardous materials have been released, evaluates surrounding conditions; and predicting the likely behavior of a material and/or container.
3.Performs crash-rescue and firefighting duties involving air traffic or support operations where hazardous conditions are such that the expectancy for fire is high and potential for becoming destructive is great.
4.Performs structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, which may include large multistoried buildings, industrial areas, and/or base storage facilities. Performs rescue of personnel and a variety of first aid measures to alleviate further injury and prepare the victim(s) for transport to a medical facility.
5.Maintains firefighting equipment and fire station facilities. Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.

Leads a crew of three or more firefighters, including at least one firefighter (GS-07 or military equivalent) assigned to man a major piece of motorized firefighting equipment such as a pumper, aerial ladder truck, or Airport Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicle in firefighting and rescue operations.

• Provides support to management in planning, organizing, and overseeing the activities of the Force Support Squadron (FSS). Manages goals and objectives that integrate organizational and flight objectives. Establishes, revises, or reviews policies, procedures, mission objectives, and organization design for the staff, as necessary to eliminate work problems or barriers to mission accomplishment, promote team building, implement quality improvements, or in response to concerns with regulatory compliance and/or customer requirements.
• Represents the Force Support Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with other base organizations, senior leadership, representatives from other military services, Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, and other related civilian organizations regarding services provided.
• Participates in special projects and initiatives and performs special assignments to include long-term planning, functional/technical advice and guidance, and continuity of management. Identifies the need for special projects and initiates milestones and goals.

As an Assistant Chief of Operations on a 24-hour duty shift, participates in the administration and planning of a comprehensive fire prevention and firefighting and rescue program of a sufficient magnitude at the installation. 3. Serves as the on-scene commander of a fire/crash scene until relieved by the Fire Chief or Deputy Fire Chief. Determines the best course of action to minimize loss or damage from fires or explosions.

4. Supervises fire alarm communication center operations to ensure all firefighting equipment and personnel are dispatched as required. Ensures that the communications center is manned at all times during the shift.

5. Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.

• Plans, organizes, leads and controls the Group training program and assist Unit training programs as needed to ensure combat readiness.
• Assist with processing of all Career Development Course (CDC) waivers, reenrollment requests and two-time CDC failures for the Group and subordinate units. Administers Training and Distance Learning Programs.
• Responsible for overall management of OJT program for the Group and oversight of subordinate unit's OJT program. Manages the development of education and training instructional products.
• Plans, directs, organizes, and coordinates operations of the Advance Distributed Learning, and multimedia education and training programs.

Plans, organizes, leads and controls the Developmental Education Board and Reserve School Selection Board process for the Group's and subordinate unit's officers on an annual basis.

Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from tracks, dollies, etc, moves heavy boxes, cartons or luggage by hand, handtruck, or dolly; opens crates and boxes using crowbars, and cuts bands using shears; stacks boxes and cartons where directed. Uses shovel, digs ditches and trenches where a pick is not needed to loosen the dirt, and where the dirt, and where grading and sloping is not required; fills holes and dirt and levels bumps and low places, using shovel, hand tamper and rake. Runs hand lawnmowers or (domestic type) powered lawnmowers, when this does not require heavy physical effort (for example on steep grades); clears small trees and bushes, using handsaw, hatchet, or clipper. Moves and arranges furniture as directed; shovels snow from sidewalks; washes and waxes cars and trucks by hand or power buffer. Performs other related duties as assigned.
