Join us as Senior Manager, Finance at AIA Investment Management!

Reporting to the Head of Finance, this position is accountable for the provision of financial & regulatory reporting of AIAIM in accordance to the applicable accounting policies, standards and guidelines. Additionally, this Senior Manager will assist the Head of Finance (HOF) to manage financial governance & control documents and support HOF as the business partner to the CEO, EXCO and Senior Leadership Team of AIAIM and Holdco.

Responsibilities:-

1) Finance Governance and Control

• Review AIAIM monthly and quarterly group and regulatory reporting deliverables
• Assist HOF to monitor and ensure regulatory compliance with MAS’s Risk Base Capital framework requirements, as well as S13U and FSI-FM Incentive Grant for solvency and capital purposes

• Lead Group Finance project deliverables to ensure enhancement efficiency and regulatory changes
• Develop and update Business Process Manuals (BPM) relating to the Finance Department according to ICFR and other internal control requirements (ISAE3402). To assist as coordinator of ICFR and ensuring BPMs and internal control matrices are in place
• Liaise with Compliance and Risk team to ensure completeness and validity of finance’s risk control matrices
• Interact with Group Internal and External Statutory Auditors on finance related audit matters and address any audit action points
• Develop/co-develop/advise finance related policies in collaboration with Group and AIAIM internal stakeholders including advising AIAIM fund vehicles to ensure policies are in compliance with AIAIM requirements

2) Group Financial, Statutory and Regulatory Reporting

• Lead and ensure group, statutory and regulatory reporting are prepared on a timely basis
• Lead the statutory year end and voluntary half year audits and manage the relationships with external auditors
• Prepare reports and presentations for board members, EXCO and regulatory bodies as required
• Recommend areas for enhancements and improvements for the current systems and processes to meet the challenges and needs of stakeholders and participate in projects for any development, design, and implementation of new processes, controls, and functionality changes to existing systems and processes

3) Capital Monitoring and Management

• Ensure treasury activities support by GFS is provided on a timely basis. Provide instructions to GFS for execution of treasury activities and perform final review on GFS outputs and be accountable for all the deliverables
• Assist HOF in daily cash forecasting, annual cash budgeting, determination of dividend amounts and the associated AAMP approvals including:-
• Manage time deposit placements or other short-term cash investments
• Manage FX conversions for operational requirements
• Execute cash transfers between bank accounts for funding arrangements
• Review annual cash flow budget
• Manage bank account opening, closing and signatory updates, including e-banking platforms

4) Business Continuity and Succession Planning

Requirements

• University Degree in Accountancy or Internationally Recognized Accounting Qualification (ACCA, etc)

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

The main objectives of this position are to oversee the investment strategy, management, and performance of private assets in IM which includes:

1. Private Equity & Venture Capital
2. Real Estate
3. Private Debt
5. Other Alternative Investments

Our private asset investments have matured and developed over the last 3 years. We now have a large successful program covering circa US$35bn in committed assets across 3 private sub strategies: - Private Equity-VC, Private Credit and Real Estate which have been run separately until now. The program is large, but also increasingly complex, with 88 different GPs and 253 underlying funds. This complexity will only increase as the program matures, particularly considering increasing levels of co-investments as well as the move towards more segregated accounts for new commitments.

This new position will oversee and coordinate the overall program. Reporting to AIAIM CIO, this role will deliver an overall clear strategy and focus on robust implementation across the entire private program to ensure ongoing strong delivery of performance. The role will ensure we have the right strategy in place, the most efficient operating model & implementation and finally, the right systems setup across Aladdin and E- Front to ensure we can provide all stakeholders with the reporting transparency on the program that they require.

The role is expected to drive people management and leadership development for these teams and also work seamlessly with Group Investment, Business Units and AIAIM to achieve its objectives and manage communications with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• The role will focus on coordinating across the 3 sub strategies with both the existing IM asset class heads (PE/VC/PC/RE) as well as the Regional Asset class heads and HK teams.
• Manage and construct outsourced private portfolios, from idea generation/fund selection to investment due diligence and portfolio construction, to meet the portfolio’s overall risk and return targets.

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Contribute actively and drive key enterprise strategic projects by leading certain strategic initiatives and ensuring that the overall project objectives are met.

· Support the review of special strategic projects or opportunities that arise, e.g. including but not limited to, strategic partnerships, or other inorganic growth strategy.

· Monitor the progress of the key strategic initiatives as part of the regular updates provided to EXCO.

· Support the strategic planning process, lead collaboration with various divisions to ensure quality and timeliness of their submissions, including preparation of materials to facilitate reviews by senior management team and enable clear communication of the Strategic Plan.

· Work closely with various divisions, and support the senior management on the necessary business performance analysis to enable meaningful discussion and formulation of strategic initiatives by EXCO.

· Keep abreast of key market trends, risks and opportunities.

· Perform in-depth competitor analysis, industry benchmarking and research for timely periodic communication to EXCO and Group

· Support the preparation of communication materials on the business performance highlights for the company that will be used for various purposes, such as results announcement, staff and agency events.

Minimum Job Requirements:

· Degree in Finance or Actuarial or other related professional qualification

· Minimum 10 years of financial management / strategic planning experience and a proven successful track record, ideally in a high growth business environment

· Possess an in-depth understanding of the financial field, demonstrated experience in budget and profitability management

· Strong understanding of insurance business management, ideally in the management of non-financial functions such as product development, operations or distribution

· Able to work independently and in a team, as well as being proactive and constantly striving for excellence

· Able to communicate and influence effectively with individuals and teams at all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders

· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Join us as General Counsel at AIA Investment Management!

The General Counsel will be responsible for the legal and company secretarial support and associated risk management for AIA Investment Management and related fund platforms as well as leading the legal and company secretarial support for AIA’s Group Unit-linked and Pension business (“GULPB”). The incumbent will also be providing centralized, specialist support and legal risk management for legal documentation relating to investment vendors, intercompany contract architecture, counterparties, and transactions across AIA.

This is a regional position and part of the interconnected legal and company secretarial infrastructure across AIA’s markets and jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

Legal

Continuously improving the legal infrastructure required to support the legal and contractual needs of AIA Investment Management, related fund platforms, GULPB and aspects of AIA more widely, including:

• Mitigating legal risk by ensuring that contracts reflect standards and building and maintaining an appropriate mechanism for legal risk management processes under the Investment Governance Framework and corresponding AIA-wide risk frameworks
• Leading the provision and procurement of legal advice with respect to compliance with law and regulatory policy in jurisdictions relevant to the relevant entities
• Providing legal support to GULPB across markets and jurisdictions;
• Designing and handling the specialized, technical legal infrastructure and resource required
• Negotiating contracts and providing internal and external legal advice;
• Selecting and working with external counsel, ensuring quality of support and associated costs;
• Overseeing legal advice and support for investment transactions and managing client, intercompany, vendor and counterparty relationships;
• Providing leadership and business judgment and serving as trusted counsel and adviser to AIA Investment senior management;
• Leading the continuous improvement of the efficiency of legal support through the use of technology, including generative artificial intelligence and refinement of internal roles and responsibilities; and
• Continuously developing both self and legal team members

Company Secretary and Corporate Governance

• Designing and managing the corporate governance and associated company secretary infrastructure for the Boards of Directors of AIA Investment Management and related fund platforms so as to assist them to fulfil their fiduciary duties efficiently and demonstrably, in accordance with the Investment Governance Framework, corresponding AIA-wide risk frameworks, applicable law and regulatory policy
• Direct leadership and support to the Chair and the Boards of Directors through prior quality control review of Board submissions, training and guidance to presenters, so as to ensure materials are consistent, coherent and any issues arising from such materials are appropriately addressed in advance.
• Advising the Boards of Directors as to all applicable legal requirements.
• Overseeing all Board and Board committee as well as AIA IM Exco and Senior Leadership Team formation and maintenance, including associated secretariat responsibilities such as meeting logistics, recording minutes and managing the preparation of documentation and reporting on Board/management actions.
• Setting standards for all other formal management committees of AIA IM, such that they form a coherent whole, and provide guidance to the secretariats of such other formal management committees of AIA IM.
• Coordination with Group Legal Company Secretary with respect to AIA-wide company secretarial requirements.

Others

• Coordinate with the Regional Director of Governance and Legal in highlighting material developments, issues, and challenges so as to facilitate the Regional Director of Governance and Legal’s oversight of associated activities.
• Providing support to the legal and governance aspects of the AIA Investment Operating Model

Requirements

• Qualified solicitor in common law jurisdiction;
• 15 years post-qualification working experience as in-house legal;
• Regional asset management and funds business experience required;
• Compliance and company secretarial experience will be a plus;
• Strong leadership and supervision skills;
• Excellent organizational, presentation and interpersonal skills;
• Strong influencing skills;
• Ability to deal with and handle multiple and changing priorities;
• Good work attitude and ability to work as a larger team;
• Independent with strong self-initiative;
