In this vital role you will be responsible for ensuring execution of a safe, compliant, effective, efficient, and cost appropriate engineering & design programs. The Engineering Technical Authority (ETA) within Amgen Corporate Engineering leads the design effort for critical projects and provides technical expertise across Amgen’s global operations network. This position is part of the ETA organization that includes Process Systems, Facilities and Utilities, Site Project Engineering, Maintenance and Metrology functions. The Senior Engineer will be part of the implementation of capital projects design and delivery teams, among other responsibilities, and will work with the Global Engineering Services Team.
This position is primarily responsible for the engineering & design of both new and existing biotech manufacturing, laboratory facility, general offices, and cold storage projects. It is a technical role that leads and facilitates the engineering and design of HVAC and related systems for biotech manufacturing, laboratory, and general building projects. The engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory, quality, and cost standards, as well as providing technical guidance and specifications to optimize the performance and sustainability of Amgen's assets. The engineer will also coordinate with other engineering fields, consultants, contractors, and key collaborators to deliver safe, effective, and efficient solutions for capital projects and network support. The engineer will have strong leadership, communication, analytical, and technical skills, as well as knowledge of industry trends and best practices.

Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree OR
- Master’s degree and 2 years of Maintenance or Engineering experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Maintenance or Engineering experience OR
- Associate’s degree and 8 years of Maintenance or Engineering experience OR
- High school diploma / GED and 10 years of Maintenance or Engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- Engineering Professional License.
- 6+ years’ experience in engineering or maintenance or related function within the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical and/or Medical Device industry.
- 5+ years’ experience and track record of ensuring compliance in a highly regulated environment.
- Familiar with and understand current Good Manufacturing Practices, HVAC and Building Mechanical Systems with demonstrated experience with load calculations, air handling systems, hydronic systems, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, airflow diagrams, A&IDs, and Building Mechanical System P&IDs.
- Proven success applying these to cGMP manufacturing and laboratory facilities.
- Ability to apply knowledge of ductwork and piping sizing, design, installation, and commissioning, cold storage refrigeration systems.
- Experience in system and equipment sizing, selection, specification, operation, commissioning, and troubleshooting, including air handlers, fans, coils, humidifiers, filters and filtration, terminal devices, refrigeration equipment, compressors, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, boilers, fume hoods and biosafety cabinets, HVAC control system design and function, code requirements.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
