The company has been established for 50 years and is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. Current annual revenues exceed £20M and employee numbers exceed 200. ROD has an office in Otley near Leeds and two offices in Dublin. There are 12 shareholders of ROD, all of whom are full-time employees of the company.

The office in Otley was established in 2019 and a separate operating company, Roughan and O'Donovan UK Ltd, was incorporated in 2018. There are currently 19 people working in the Otley office with a plan to increase this over the coming years.
Current UK projects the team are involved in are:

• A5 Western Transport Corridor ECI,
• A6 Dungiven to Drumahoe D&B,
• Clyde Waterfront and Renfrew Riverside Bridge,
• A47 Harfrey's Roundabout and
• Herring Bridge and Approaches, Great Yarmouth and
• Cross Tay Link Road.

Whilst these are major highways and bridge projects, there is an extensive element of Active Travel, SUDS, Environment and Geotechnical elements to them with a keen focus on sustainability.
Past projects include:

• A6 Randaltown to Castledawson,
• A1231 Northern Spire and approaches and
• M8-M73-M74 Motorway Upgrade.

Revenues at ROD UK Ltd are currently of the order of £2M per annum. ROD has an extensive portfolio of past projects in the Highways & Transportation sector in Ireland, having provided services to public-sector, contractor and PPP clients on more than 500km of motorway projects, and Greenways, for instance.

ROD is also a market leader in Urban Realm and Active Travel project design in Ireland and has been requested to provide training in this sector in the UK based on our large portfolio of completed projects. Sustainability and liveability are cornerstones of our design philosophy, and we strive to incorporate circular economy principles in all of our project designs. ROD has targeted the UK market as its principal growth area and is now seeking to recruit an Associate/Technical Director to support the further growth of the ROD UKL business in that sector.
This role is ideal for an individual with a proven ability to provide technical leadership, to develop professional teams, and to provide high quality service to clients. The successful candidate will hold a senior transportation design leadership position in an engineering consultancy and will have the ambition to lead that discipline within the expanding ROD UKL team.

The position will be based in the Otley office.
Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the transportation team, overseeing, supporting, advising and coaching the engineering professionals.
• Supervise highways and transportation projects, lead design evolution and checking with full technical responsibility for deliverables, assign responsibilities and allocate resources efficiently.
• Lead and direct bidding efforts for new highways and transportation projects.
• Be part of the management team in the wider ROD Transportation Group, including organising ROD UKL inputs to projects in Ireland and coordinating resources in Ireland to support UK bidding and projects.
• Maintain excellent levels of customer service.
• Report to the Managing Director of the ROD UKL business.
• Undertake group-wide management functions allocated by the Board.

Required Skills and Experience

• A Chartered Engineer with a university degree, coupled with in excessive of 15 years experience in Civil Engineering design.
• Excellent technical skills in the design of highways, streets, and transportation projects.
• Commercial and financial acumen.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Capable of representing the company with clients and external parties.
• Experience of traffic network analysis is desirable but not essential.

The position is responsible for providing executive-level management and oversight of the Office of Marine Safety (OMS), which investigates, analyzes, develops, and prepares detailed reports and proposed probable cause determinations of all major marine casualties that occur in the US or that involve US flagged vessels anywhere in the world.

Major duties include, but are not limited to:

• Plans, manages, directs, and evaluates the work of the OMS. Provides direction to professional engineers, marine accident investigators, and other technical and support staff to assure high quality marine accident investigations. Implements and exercises NTSB policies and guidelines.
• Manages the accident investigation process and oversees accident report preparation to ensure timely and appropriate response to the Board. Under delegated authority, initiates accident investigations to implement the NTSB Congressional mandate and NTSB priorities. Ensures all factors of accidents/incidents have been identified, objectively examined, and documented. Determines probable cause(s) of each accident.
• Develops a strategic and annual operating plan for the implementation of short-term and long-term objectives for the OMS.
• Coordinates OMS programs with other Federal, state, and local government agencies, industry groups, and foreign governments, as appropriate. Initiates activities aimed at promoting the public image of the work of the NTSB. Meets with high-ranking officials to develop and negotiate the implementation of national and international goals and objectives, as appropriate.
• Establishes and maintains liaison with international and domestic industry, safety groups, labor organizations, associations, Congress, Federal regulators, etc. Provides authoritative advice and expertise in the development of industry standards and regulations, technology, and new applications of existing technology. Provides Congressional testimony, as needed. Represents the NTSB and serves as a member of the U.S. delegation at international meetings on accident investigation issues.

The Deputy Associate Director:

• Serves as a recognized Office and Departmental authority for National Security Council coordination and policy matters to ensure appropriate Departmental representation for National Security Council meetings, respond to National Security Council inquiries, and assist senior executive leadership with meeting preparation, attendance, and follow-up.
• Receives classified meeting materials from the National Security Council and across the Federal Government; reviews as appropriate for Division, Office, and Departmental equities; and ensures proper handling, distribution, and storage.

JOB PURPOSE:

As the Head of Asia Pacific Distribution Centre (APDC), this position is a key member of the Asia Operations leadership team who plays a critical role in important strategic and management decisions relating to APDC operations. This position has full responsibility and accountability of overall performance for APDC with regards to quality, productivity, service level as well as budgetary control. With clear directions, this position will establish performance goals and develop corresponding objectives and action plan to ensure achievement.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Strategic planning and execution to enhance profitability, productivity and efficiency throughout the Distribution Centre’s operations, continuous improvement to bring Distribution Centre to next level.

2. Develop long-range objectives and strategies for the distribution centre, monitor performance against these objectives and provide leadership, feedback, supports, motivates, directions and retains high-caliber staff.

3. Define information systems requirements to support process improvements initiates. Integrate the technology, quality, purchasing and logistics functions to support product and process excellence.

4. Allocate resources effectively to maximize productivity and cope with demand fluctuation while optimizing quality and delivery time. Focus on key performance areas such as OTD (on-time-delivery), LTR (lead-time-reduction), productivity and cost improvement. Implement improved processes and management methods to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Master/bachelor’s degree on logistics/operations management preferred.

EXPERIENCES

· 10+ years of broad logistics and supply chain management experience in progressively senior positions.

· solid working experience on DC operations management in MNC environment.

· Experience with New DC setup or relocation, Brown/Greenfield project is preferred.

· Experience supporting and developing emerging markets.

· Experience directing the operations in a multi-site supply chain system.

· Ability to manage Third Party Logistics (3PL), freight companies and other logistics suppliers.

· Supplier negotiation skills, proven cost reduction efforts and experience with contracts.

· Demonstrable analytical abilities to assess financial impacts of any changes to logistics service requirements.

· In depth knowledge and experience with key supply chain/logistics processes, best practices, and implementing process improvements.
