YOUR ROLE
As the Sea Freight Import Manager, you will oversee the smooth operation of the sea freight import department, ensuring adherence to company procedures and maintaining strong customer relationships. Based in Dartford, you will manage a team of customer care specialists, contributing to the overall effectiveness, development, management, and profitability of the sea freight department.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the import department, ensuring operational coverage and adherence to Credit Control guidelines.
- Encourage training and development of the team through the annual Performance and Progress Review (PPR) process.
- Actively manage all import accounts in conjunction with local sales.
- Visit clients as necessary, which may involve travel outside office hours/UK.
- Resolve operational problems in conjunction with sales staff.
- Produce financial, service, operational, and productivity reports as required.
- Ensure the highest standards of customer care by servicing existing customers professionally.
- Collaborate with local sales to produce competitive pricing and operational solutions.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
- Excellent knowledge of sea freight operational procedures.
- Strong leadership and influencing skills to achieve results.
- Effective communication and organisational skills.
- High proficiency in MS Word, Excel, or similar.
- Strong team player with the ability to monitor and motivate staff.
- Ability to work on own initiative and deliver agreed actions on time.
