Regional Operations Manager

At Gregory Distribution, we have a vacancy for an Regional Operations Manager based at Bristol.
The position of Regional Operations Manager involves:
- Lead, manage and motivate the team of circa 60 (including drivers and office staff) to ensure that its people and assets are used effectively to attain maximum performance in terms of commercial contract efficiency, profit and client service levels.
- Own the safety and legal compliance of the transport operations within their leadership.
- Ensure customer service exceeds expectations through effective communication and achievement of KPIs.
- Commercial experience to include: P&L accountability and to take all necessary actions to achieve the targeted profit and commercial aims/Tenders of the operation.
- Anticipate and manage changes generated by business growth and changing customer requirements.
- Direct resources to ensure services are delivered in line with contractual customer requirements.
- Coordinate operations with other depots to ensure consistency and quality of service is maintained throughout.
- Ensure processes are in place to exceed the customer's requirements.
- Demonstrate a positive approach to the operation, identify potential risks and opportunities and act accordingly to protect profit targets.
- Maximise the use of resources by using assets efficiently by planning ahead.
- Ensure that drivers develop and maintain excellent customer relations.
- Drive the culture and continued development of direct and indirect staff within the area.
- Recommend continuous improvements in operational requirements as they affect transport operations.
- Ensure operation within the limits of LGV legislation in relation to 'O' licence conditions, drivers' hours and vehicle maintenance.
- Safe Systems of Work must be observed and followed at all times. This includes maintaining standards of personal hygiene, as detailed in SSOW and Company Rules Book, especially wearing of uniform and PPE at all times.
- All Company Health & Safety policies and rules must be observed. You are responsible for ensuring that you do not put yourself or others at risk by your actions; you must report any hazards to your manager immediately.
Essential Skills required for Regional Operations Manager:
- Previous experience of working within the logistics industry. Exposure to transport and customer management.
- Previous experience of developing strategic and continuous improvement plans.
- CPC National & / or International qualified.
- Evidence of developing/leading teams and individuals and a track record of leading successful change.
- Proven experience in customer relationship management.
- Strong evidence of management skills and making key business decisions.
- Strong influencing skills both internally and externally.
- Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Have a good understanding of legal compliance, driver's hours and WTD's.
- IT literate including MS Office. Strong analytic ability in review data and reports.
- Previous knowledge of Mandata and other transport management systems is desirable.
