What Supply Chain Inventory and Purchasing contributes to Cardinal Health

The analyses include maintaining optimal inventory levels and minimizing loss risk for products. This job also communicates with suppliers to address inventory issues including products substitutions. This job supports sales by placing purchase orders as requested and communicates any potential supply and demand variations based on complex forecast analysis conducted.

Responsibilities

• Supports millions of dollars of sales by placing purchase orders as requested.
• Communicates with suppliers to address any issues with products and/or delivery.
• Performs analysis of inventory and over the counter products.
• Maintains optimal inventory levels and minimizing loss risk for products.
• Communicates internally with warehouse and sales to address inventory, client and products issues in a timely manner.
• Tracks and monitors inventory, supply and demand and other metrics needed to conduct analysis required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
• 2-4 years of experience preferred
• Experience with SCORE, Distrack, and SAP preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel & Access) and Business Objects/BI&A
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical skills preferred
• Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Strong understanding of supply chain concepts, financial acumen, and product knowledge preferred
• Experience with LSS concepts and tools preferred

Responsibilities

• Comprehensive ownership and efficient management of the purchase order life cycle (PO creation to receipt). Resolves failures throughout the lifecycle of the purchase order. 
• Manages supplier portfolio to key metrics (DIOH, service level, lead time, etc.). 
• Efficient demand forecasting and incorporates customer/market.
• Maintain purchasing systems parameters for assigned supplier portfolio such as order minimums, order days, lead time, order cycle, etc. 
• Serve as primary Inventory/Purchasing contact for the Supplier and develop long term relationships to continually improve supply chain processes and meet our customer needs. 
• Collaborate effectively with suppliers and stakeholders to manage issues, gather relevant data, review performance and drive improvements (ex. Advance Ship Notice and Purchase Orders via EDI). 
• Proactively analyze service failures to mitigate future issues which may include the placement of emergency purchase orders. 
• Managing the release of backordered products into the supply channel. 
• Assist in the execution of new product launches, item replacements (NDC changes), new manufactures.
• Participate and/or leads projects and independently manage project milestones to completion to improve department workflow. 
• Create and maintain product availability messaging via manufacturer backorder reports.
• Identifies opportunities for efficiencies and drives change.

The Senior Purchasing Specialist role supports global procurement and supply chain functional areas of responsibility. This role will support the battery electric vehicle commodities and is responsible for purchase order management activity in support of the business operations. The position has direct interface and acts as a liaison between suppliers and the organization. It may include working level leadership of purchasing team members.

YOUR IMPACT

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

• Lead purchasing and order management activities to drive operational effectiveness.
• Ensure supplier and purchase order accuracy of master data in ERP and supplier portal and update/change data/information as required; resolve supply disruption issues.
• Conduct standard material cost reviews, cost variance/change analytics and execute action plans for cost management; update material cost standards and variances in ERP.
• Understand material/commodity index models and cost their impact on total cost of ownership.
• Execute approved value proposition/cost out projects.
• Lead supplier part warranty recovery campaign efforts.
• Participate in projects that drive performance and value capture through long term supply agreements.
• Lead supplier performance recovery and supplier risk mitigation activities; attend and lead supplier delivery performance discussions internally and in supplier business reviews.
• Lead mitigation of price increase threats and lead/support supplier negotiations.
• Execute supplier readiness for product launches (in coordination with NPD if applicable); review new parts and execute launch readiness initiatives for mid/high impact programs.
• Support new program launch readiness initiatives.
• Participate in supply chain optimization initiatives to improve material flow and capture value or reduce waste in the supply chain.
• Engage in category counsel initiatives.
• Train and mentor purchasing coordinator and associate positions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

• Bachelor’s degree with five (5) or more years of relevant experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to travel 10%.
• Relevant industry related certifications.
• Purchasing experience within the manufacturing industry.
• Ability to effectively communicate.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
