Job Description:

Ready to advance your education and have the opportunity to work on large-scale engineering and Intelligent Transportation projects? Parsons is now accepting applications for an Engineering intern student who has great attention to detail and is ready to join a rapidly growing team. We are looking for the May through August 2024 availability. This internship would be based out of the Parsons Schaumburg or Chicago office.

We need our interns to be versatile, and enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team-oriented environments that have exceptional communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

In this role, under the direction of a degreed engineer, you will perform a variety of engineering support assignments requiring a fundamental knowledge of technology, design standards, practices, and techniques. Assignments are designed to develop a practical knowledge of equipment, facilities, and systems, and their interrelationships within a particular engineering discipline.

Responsibilities:

• Assists with a variety of engineering and technology tasks related to Intelligent Transportation Systems, Smart Cities, and Systems Integration.
• Review and document project requirements
• Assist in tracking requirements and tasks using software tools such as Jira
• Assist in keeping tasks on schedule
• Develop plans, test procedures, and user manuals
• Expected to conduct unit testing and acceptance testing
• Required to be onsite periodically to collect client requirements and feedback.
• Work effectively and collaboratively with the project team.

Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled in an engineering curriculum at an accredited college or university and have completed typically 1+ year of studies in a major Engineering discipline (e.g., Civil, Electrical, Computer Science, etc.). Relevant coursework required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills to support tasks in multiple projects

This Fall internship would be based out of the Parsons Boston office.

We need our interns to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team-oriented environments that have exceptional communication, analytical, and organizational skills

In this role, under the direction of a degreed engineer, you will perform a variety of basic to moderately difficult engineering support assignments requiring a fundamental knowledge of design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques. The co-op student at this level typically takes engineering notes, specifications, rough sketches, etc., and formalizes them into working drawings. Assignments are designed to develop a practical knowledge of equipment, facilities, and systems, and their interrelationships within a particular engineering discipline.
 

Responsibilities:

• Assists with a variety of civil engineering tasks to complete remedial designs for hazardous and solid waste projects including barrier walls (slurry techniques, sheet piles), sediment remediation, landfill, excavation, and solidification projects. 
• Assist in developing design drawings and writing technical specifications.
• Take part in providing construction oversight, construction quality assurance, and field engineering field assignments.
• Assist with the development of grading plans and perform engineering calculations (such as stormwater analysis).
• Work effectively and collaboratively with the project team.
• Candidate must also implement behavior-based safety tools to achieve incident-free operations (no personal injuries, property damage, or environmental releases) for both the client and Parsons.

Qualifications:

Must be enrolled in an engineering curriculum at an accredited college or university and have completed typically 1+ year of studies in a major Engineering discipline (e.g., Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.).
Relevant coursework required
Literate in PC software, with a working knowledge of CAD, and other computer software used to complete design assignments.

LOGISTICS. Driven by customer demands, the Land O Lakes Logistics team creates value by effectively managing the transformation of raw materials into safe, quality, finished products, and by coordinating complex planning and distribution to ensure that products are delivered when and where the customer desires. Logistics does this by leveraging state of the art capabilities in our integrated Planning, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Warehousing and Shipping functions. Logistics also operates a large fleet of trucks and over 100 warehouses and distribution centers. 

QUALITY. Quality is foundational to Land O Lakes and is a core value to all aspects of our company. ENGINEERING. Engineering provides essential capabilities for ongoing sustainability and growth of our key Land O Lakes businesses. The Engineering team manages over two hundred million per year in capital projects that support new business commercialization and manufacturing improvements in areas of plant infrastructure, quality, safety, efficiency and sustainability. The team strives to provide industry-leading technical services that support business objectives, while driving reliable operational effectiveness and cost competitiveness in addition to highest quality, safety and environmental compliance. 

SOURCING & INGREDIENT MERCHANDISING. Overseeing eleven billion in annual transactions, the Ingredient Merchandising and Sourcing team works with thousands of suppliers worldwide. Ingredient Merchandising and Sourcing purchases every product, service or ingredient needed to bring the companys diverse portfolio of agriculture, feed and dairy foods products to market ranging from stainless steel to soybean meal. The team also buys and sells ingredients and raw milk to balance the companys needs and generate revenue. Land O Lakes businesses rely on the Sourcing and Ingredient Merchandising teams to be the experts in the global markets for raw materials. Using this information, Land O Lakes Sourcing provides risk management solution with futures and options strategies to mitigate margin volatility for our businesses. 

RESEARCH and DEVELOPMENT. R and D develops new products and programs to serve our customers, both internal and external. Potential Internship project focus areas, Process Engineering, Product Development, Sensory, Packaging Engineering. 

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH and SAFETY. Environment, Health and Safety, also known as EHS, works with each Business unit to ensure compliance with all applicable EPA, OSHA and DOT regulations. In addition, we work with each business unit on risk management. Risks in the form of employee injuries, environmental spills or releases, bad press regarding environmental sustainability, etc.

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate entering Sophomore, Junior, or Senior year
• Pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Operations, Agriculture, Ag Econ, Engineering such as Chemical, Food Process, Industrial, Feed, Milling, Food, Dairy Science or Science related program, Business or related discipline.
• Must be willing to relocate for the summer
• Demonstrated leadership in school, academic, and industry related clubs

Preferences:

• Prior internship or coop experience, preferably in a related industry.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, problem solving, demonstrated leadership skills, decision making and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail, ability to work independently and produce results. 
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Computer skills such as Microsoft Office and Outlook
