The Scottish Government is seeking a highly skilled lawyer to join their Transport Adviser Unit in the Scottish Government Legal Directorate. As a Transport Adviser Unit - SGLD Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing legal advice on a range of Transport Scotland operations and activities. Working on a Hybrid basis of 1 day a week in the Glasgow based office.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice
• Advise on major road infrastructure projects.
• Road maintenance and management queries, compulsory purchase and land assembly projects, and road traffic regulation

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer in Scotland.

Working Arrangements

This is a 6-month contract position possible extension for 6 month further, with a hybrid working arrangement of 1 day per week working from George House, George Square, Glasgow. The successful candidate will be working in a branch of 4 other C1 lawyers and your C2 Manager who will all be there to support one another and work collaboratively together and also working with the second Branch in this unit.

A client within the Public Sector based in Lancashire is currently recruiting for a Passenger Transport Manager to join their team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a transportation environment.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to work with all transport operators and stakeholders, develop public transport schemes and bids for funding and develop our Enhanced Partnership approach.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• contracted bus service provision, mainstream school transport, public transport developments, bus stations and interchanges, managing the English concessionary travel scheme, ticketing initiatives and rail developments.
• lead a diverse team and will work closely with colleagues, councillors and key stakeholders to help shape the council's public transport offer against the Highway and Transport Strategy, Bus Service Improvement Plan and emerging Local Transport Plan.
• work with neighbouring authorities to align activity and manage the joint Concessionary Travel Scheme.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require experience in Passenger Transport ideally operational experience in transporting with bus and rail.

Role Purpose
The Investigator utilises a range of appropriate investigative approaches to gather material, placing the victim at the centre of all actions and decisions, to safely and effectively investigate serious and complex crimes. The primary focus will be on Robberies and Sexual Offences within BTP jurisdiction. This role, based at London Bridge, will be led by a Detective Sergeant (DS) and may require working overtime, which will be compensated at an agreed rate.

Key Accountability's

• 
  Collaborate: Liaise and work with other investigators, specialists, and managers to establish and use appropriate methods for gathering material. Develop procedures to turn material into intelligence or evidence for investigations into Robberies and Sexual Offences.
• 
  Collect and Gather: Gather material, intelligence, and evidence from various sources appropriate to the investigation's serious and complex nature. Record and retain evidence in a format that is evidentially admissible to support the investigative process.
• 
  Interviewing: Interview witnesses and suspects to gather all required information, intelligence, and evidence in line with PIP2 investigative standards. Generate further lines of enquiry to bring offenders to justice.
• 
  Victim Support: Provide appropriate support for victims during an investigation. Complete risk assessments, formulate victim strategies as needed, and work with the Public Protection and Vulnerability Unit to ensure victim safety and wellbeing.
• 
  Analysis and Evaluation: Carry out analysis, assess evidence, and evaluate material generated by the investigation of Robbery and Sexual Offences crimes to identify offenders.
• 
  Evidence Handling: Ensure all material, including exhibits from serious and complex crimes, is seized, examined, and retained per legislation and policy.
• 
  Safeguarding: Respond to safeguarding concerns and manage risk effectively.

Specific Accountability's

• Hold a valid UK driving license.
• Liaise with partner agencies.
• Obtain statements and provide personal statements when needed.
• View and request CCTV footage.
• Submit forensic material.
• Conduct CCTV trawls.
• Submit intelligence and safeguarding reports.
• Contact and update victims regularly.
• Conduct house-to-house enquiries.
• Update actions on shared systems.
• Perform other investigative actions as directed by the DS.

Key purpose of the role is to be the lead officer for development of a range of sustainable transport related projects (including active travel, bus and rail) and their subsequent monitoring.

The Candidate

To assist the nursing staff cleaning spillages within the vehicle.

To ensure toilets on the vehicles are empty after use.

To work an ‘On call’ service as necessary to ensure a continuous 24 hour transport service for the Trust.
