The duties of the position may include but, are not limited to:

• Responsible tor determining Veteran eligibility status for BT mileage reimbursement and requests for payment of special mode transportation (ambulance, air ambulance, wheelchair, etc.).
• Processes BT mileage reimbursement requests, assigning the correct Fund Control Point (FCP) to each transaction.
• Performs BT financial Co-pay tests to determine BT eligibility and notifies veteran of outcome.
• Incumbent serves as a liaison between medical center personnel, Veterans and their representatives requesting transportation, and is responsible for arranging and coordinating, ambulette, ambulance, and airline trips etc., using the most cost-efficient mode to the Government. Incumbent ensures completion of consults for special mode trips in Computer Patient Record System (CPRS) daily.

• Daily responsibilities include transportation appointment scheduling, collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information in support of VTS and SMT programs.
• Performs a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports.
• Aggregates incoming data from a variety of sources.
• Reviews documents, reports, and/or application for omissions and inconsistencies, and ensures data entry is complete and accurate.
• Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system.
• Maintains automated system of program-specific data to track items such as service project milestones, progress reports, program
  trends, performance measures, compliance strategies, etc.

Supervisor Medical Supply Technician duties include:

• Managing, interacting and dealing with individuals of varying backgrounds.
• Directing staff and managing tasks to be completed.
• Overseeing and supervising all aspects of decontamination, preparation, sterilization, monitoring, and distribution of RMD.
• Performing a full range of supervisory duties, including assigning, planning and evaluating work, recommending awards, approving leave, identifying training needs, and resolving staff issues.
• Functioning as a first-level supervisor responsible for the oversight of a group of MSTs, with administrative responsibility for planning and directing of the work for all aspects of SPS for RMD listed in item c. 70%
• Overseeing attendance and leave, including approval of sick and annual leave and vacation schedules. Informs higher level management of anticipated vacancies or increases in workload. 5%
• Recommending promotions, reassignments, recognition of superior performance, retention or release of probationary employees or other changes of assigned personnel. 5%
• Holding corrective interviews with employees, referring disciplinary problems to higher levels of management. 5%
• Resolving informal complaints of employees and deals with union representatives on personnel matters. 5%
• Providing technical supervisory necessary for accomplishing the work of the organizational unit.10%

The major duties of the Motor Vehicle Operator will include, but are not limited to:

• Operating the following vehicles on a regular basis: Sedans (4,000 lb), Mini-Vans (6,050 lb), full size vans with wheelchair lifts (8,500 lb), John Deer Tractor, Model 5525, 105 Hp. 95 PTO Hp., Toro zero turn mower, shuttle passenger bus MGVWR - 25,850 lbs. 25 passengers, dual use vehicle - handicapped passenger bus MGVWR-32,000 lbs. 34 passenger (CDL required), emergency multi-use vehicle MGVWR-39,420 lbs. (CDL required), Bobcat Tool Cat 5600 F-Series vehicles and attachments, 3/4 ton trucks with snow plow, and emergency management trailers MGVWR over 10,000 lbs. (CDL required).
• Transporting employees throughout the southeastern part of the state of Michigan, primarily the Metro Detroit area.
• Operating vehicles of all sizes, some of which will require a state-issued commercial driver's license (CDL).
• Maintaining an accurate log sheet of all motor vehicles.
• Completing a pre and post operator check of vehicles and equipment for proper fluid levels (water, windshield washer, oil, brake and transmission) whenever required for use.
• Completing a check of air pressures, conditions of tires, etc.
• Abiding by all state and local traffic rules, regulations and exercises appropriate precautions for the safe operation of all motor vehicles and equipment in the safe transportation of passengers.
• Completing all motor vehicle tickets.
• Performing preventive maintenance duties set up by the facility and the General Services Administration.

The duties of the position may include but are not limited to:

• Incumbent operates one or more types of patient transport vehicles, including emergency vehicles, patient transport vans/buses and other types transport vehicles, capable of carrying up to 8 or more passengers, to and from VA Medical Center facilities, private healthcare facilities, and other private sector areas like patient homes, railway, bus stations and airports.
• Incumbent drives predetermined and/or scheduled routes or special runs. Arrives at and departs from pick up and discharge points at scheduled times.
• Operates the doors to allow passengers to enter and leave the vehicle. Read installation maps and judges road/traffic conditions to determine the shortest and safest route.
• Provide friendly, polite, and courteous service. Enforce passenger safety and seatbelt use. Check I.D. cards to ensure authorization of passengers as required.
• Responsibilities are to safely transport patients in a manner that minimizes disruption to personnel and ensure maximum comfort during travel.
• Knows and abides by rules, laws and traffic regulations pertaining to state laws.
• When transporting patients, the incumbent must be able to load and unload patients safely.
• Makes trip to medical facilities, homes, railway, bus stations and airport.
• Use multiple variations of Mobile Data Computer (MDC) in and out of the vehicles for assigned trips and duties daily.
• Employee required to deal with patients, families of patients, charge nurses, doctors and other medical staff in a professional and courteous manner.
• Incumbent loads and unloads patients, medical supplies and may be required to perform other duties as assigned.
• Incumbent may operate a stretcher van, 1-ton wheelchair van, a passenger van, a large passenger bus, Dual Use Vehicles and other vehicles as assigned and needed to transport patients.
