The Opportunity
We are looking for an Export Control & Sanctions Specialist to join our Nuclear Services business. EDF Nuclear Services is a specialist technical area, and we bring together technical capabilities to support the Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC) nuclear new build projects as well as the existing operating power stations and decommissioning sites.
In your role, you will be responsible for ensuring EDF’s compliance obligations across local and international trade restrictions including export controls and sanctions.
You will be tasked with designing, developing, and maintaining EDF’s export control licensing requirements and be responsible for the identification, application and securing of EDF’s export control licences in collaboration with Licensees’ requirements, supporting IT, HR, Supply Chain, Engineering, Project Managers, R&D, and other internal stakeholders as required.

What you’ll be doing
In your role, you will provide expert advice on export control processes and regulations across EDF’s companies. You will assist Senior Specialists in internal and external audits, implementing trade control measures and developing strategies for export license requests and applications.
Your responsibilities will include applying for and managing export licenses, ensuring compliance with UK and international trade laws, and communicating license terms to ensure proper management. You will work closely with IT, supply chain, project managers, HR, and engineers to advise on trade compliance requirements.
You will also handle reporting on the use of reportable nuclear goods and technology, prepare reports for various governmental agencies (including the Office of Nuclear Regulations (ONR) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAE)), and support audits, board presentations, and digital transformation initiatives.
Your role includes supporting project bids, attending meetings, delivering training, and maintaining accurate trade compliance records.
Who you are
We are looking for an experienced professional in export control and sanctions, with a thorough understanding of UK (OGELs/SIELs/F680), EU (dual use), and US (ITAR/EAR) Part 810/110 Export Laws and Regulations.
You should be able to work in a dynamic and fast paced business environment and have a proven ability to explain complex trade compliance issues clearly to all levels of an organisation.
You should understand commercial trade terms and conditions that will enable you to provide commercially pragmatic guidance to EDF.
Your background should include proven experience in UK conduct regulations and regulatory change management requirements, including a solid grasp of reporting procedures and record-keeping.
We are looking for excellent analytical skills, allowing you to interpret and analyse information quickly and methodically. You should also have the ability to communicate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies.
Finally, you are hands-on and capable of managing and prioritising multiple tasks in a rapidly evolving environment.
